Chapter 1 - 1: Kal-El didn’t make it?

"Goodbye my son, shine bright with the yellow sun."

Eh, this whole situation is very familiar, don't tell me…

"Kal-El, my baby boy, you will grow into a great man, I just wish we could be there to see it."

Holy shit that confirms it, I have been reincarnated as THE Kal-El, aka SUPERMAN!

This new life is gonna be awesome.

I get to meet some of my favorite heroes and villains, and I will get to be raised on a farm which sounds fun too.

And last but not least, I get to act like an awesome hero!

"Gaga bu"

I try to express my thanks to the parents for bringing me into this world, but only baby babble comes out, oh well.

So long ma and pa, hello new life, send me on my way!

My parents look at each other and nod before my father reaches for the button that will launch the rocket I assume.

He presses it and embraces his wife.

Nothing happens…

"Honey, something's wrong!"

"What? Jor, quick fix it we don't have much time!"

I started panicking a bit internally, this isn't in any storyline, what's happening?

My father rips a small metal part off the side of the ship and frowns in sadness and anger.

"The circuit's fried entirely, I don't know how it happened but it would take too long to replace."

"N-No, Nooooo."

My mother breaks down crying, my father pats her on the shoulder and grabs me out of the rocket.

They both embrace me and apologize profusely.

What the fuck is happening, I'm going to blow up with krypton, that can't be right can it?

Fuck!

My new life just started it can't end here!

The ground begins breaking and rumbling and then suddenly…

*Boom*

Darkness once again.

...

It's been a day.

I transmigrated again, this time into a young orphan man named Samuel James Jolt who just graduated college and is pretty smart if I must say.

After doing some internet and news browsing, it turns out im in a marvel universe this time.

Tony stark just announced he was iron man yesterday.

There are various events pointing to the fact that I could be in a MCU variant, however who knows for sure? Deadpool maybe?

Oh well, as long as I'm not in one of the worst universes like the zombie one, then I'm fine I think.

I will just live this life anyway I see fit.

I am still super pissed that I'm not Superman though.

...

(Third person POV Now)

*Ding!

A notification like sound suddenly startles Sam, in the otherwise quiet apartment.

'What the heck was that?'

"Greetings two time reincarnation, your soul is extremely unique and due to the unfortunate circumstances during your previous life that disallowed you to live how was intended, you have been granted a boon in this one."

"Huh, okay."

"I am the temporary Superman assistant, not a full system like in the 'webnovels', it is simply a compensation for your accidental death in the Kal-El life. I will disappear after doing two things. One is change your body to that of a kryptonian's, with tons of 'potential'. The second is to feed you information on how to use your powers when they manifest. I will do number one first then follow up with two, hopefully you are mentally prepared as the process is painful as I will be changing your organs and other bodily things."

"Fuck yeah! I still get to be Superman? This is great, make me a kryptonian, the pain can't be as bad as dying two times in a row, especially as bad as getting crushed by a meteor in my first life in my bedroom."

(Author note: yes that's how he died in his first life, a random freaking space rock smashed through his apartment, killing him.)

"Acknowledged, initiating bodily evolution."

For half a second nothing happened.

Sam almost laughed.

Then his heart stuttered.

Not a normal beat.

Not even close.

It jerked in his chest like something had grabbed it and squeezed.

"—ghk?!"

His body folded in on itself as he dropped to his knees, fingers clawing at his shirt.

A second beat followed.

Then a third.

Each one heavier. Slower. Denser.

Like his heart wasn't just pumping blood anymore but something thicker and Hotter.

"W-what the hell—?!"

A sharp crack echoed through the apartment.

His arm twisted unnaturally as the bone shifted under his skin.

Then came the pain.

Not sharp.

Not sudden.

But constant.

Like every cell in his body had been set on fire, slowly, deliberately rewritten.

"AAAAAAGH—!"

His scream tore out of his throat as he collapsed fully onto the floor.

His spine arched violently.

CRACK.

Vertebrae realigned.

Lengthened.

Strengthened.

His vision blurred as heat flooded his skull.

It felt like his brain was being compressed and expanded at the same time, neurons firing faster, denser, more.

"MAKE IT—STOP—!"

"It cannot be stopped," the voice replied calmly.

"Your biology is being replaced."

Replaced.

Erased and rewritten.

His skin flushed red as heat built beneath it, like magma trapped under a thin shell.

Then it split.

Not open, but deeper, on a level he couldn't see.

Cells breaking apart.

Reforming.

Denser. Stronger. More efficient.

His lungs seized.

Air stopped.

For a horrifying moment he couldn't breathe.

Then they expanded violently.

"—HAAAH!!"

He sucked in air like a drowning man breaking the surface, his chest rising higher than it should, pulling in more oxygen than a human body could ever process.

His fingers dug into the floor, nails cracking as his grip tightened hard enough to leave dents.

Minutes passed.

Or seconds.

He couldn't tell anymore.

The pain didn't spike.

It didn't fade.

It just continued, relentless and absolute.

Until finally it stopped.

Just like that.

Silence filled the room.

Sam lay there, twitching slightly, sweat soaking through his clothes, breath ragged and uneven.

"…ha… ha…"

Slowly, he pushed himself up.

His body felt different.

Not stronger but… heavier.

Like something inside him had more weight than before.

More potential.

He looked at his hands.

They were still normal, no muscle to his arms really.

Still lean.

Still normal.

"…that's it?"

"Initial evolution complete," the voice replied.

"Your body is now Kryptonian in structure. However, without solar absorption, your capabilities will remain at baseline."

Sam let out a weak laugh, still shaking.

"So… I went through hell…"

"…and I'm still basically human?"

"Correct"

"Lame, but I guess with sunlight I will change fast."

"Indeed, as you are an adult instead of a baby like you would have been in your Kal-El life, you will absorb sunlight more efficiently and quickly, gaining your powers rather fast. It may take a few weeks at MOST to gain all powers."

"Sweet, alright now give me the information on how to use my powers and then we say goodbye I guess."

"Acknowledge, initiating information transfer."

"Ow"

A slight headache pains Sam, but nowhere near the pain he felt for becoming kryptonian.

He now understands how to use the powers of a kryptonian, once he gets them of course.

"Alright assistant, I guess this is goodbye."

"Indeed, goodbye."

The voice fades out of existence itself.

"Damn, could have been a little more heartfelt but oh well."

'What now?'

'I know I said or rather thought before I wanted to just be or act like an awesome hero, but I don't even have a super suit yet. I don't have to worry about powers, I will get them fast, but every superhero has some sort of costume usually. I want mine to be like the original Superman costumes but also have a unique twist on it…'

"Well, I have the intellect of this body so I can design a cool suit, and using my knowledge and intellect I can grow my reputation as a person as well and get rich fast if I want to."

Samuel James Jolt wasn't just "pretty smart."

He was the kind of smart that actually mattered.

Graduating at the top of his class in mechanical engineering, with a strong focus on materials science, he didn't just memorize formulas he understood how things behaved under stress, heat, pressure, and time. Metals, polymers, composites.

He knew what worked, what failed, and most importantly, why.

He wasn't some ridiculous, once in a century super genius, like Reed Richard but he was easily in the top tier.

The kind of person people quietly expected big things from.

The kind that got opportunities handed to him because people recognized the way his mind worked.

His real strength wasn't just knowledge.

It was application.

Samuel had a natural instinct for building and improving things.

Give him a flawed design, and he could pick it apart almost immediately, spotting weaknesses others would miss.

Better yet, he didn't need unlimited money or resources to fix those flaws, he knew how to work within limits and still produce something efficient, durable, and practical.

On top of that, he had solid technical skills, basic programming, system modeling, and modern tech integration.

Nothing groundbreaking on its own, but more than enough to support his engineering work when needed.

Most importantly, he could think under pressure.

Not perfectly, not like some master planner, but fast. Flexible. Creative.

The kind of mind that adapted instead of freezing.

Combine that with his first life's calmness in most situations, then he is almost perfect.

Yeah… with a brain like this, building a suit?

Easy.

Acquiring capital could be easy too, but he had no real desire for riches yet.

Of course he knew he might need money for a base of operations later but for now he will just use his apartment, not like anyone visits him anyway so he can hide his stuff in there without any worry.

Heck maybe he'll even end up joining the avengers later on and get funded by shield or tony stark or something.

He had no clear idea what the future held but either way he was looking forward to it.

(Authors note/request: please let me know if you prefer third person or first person pov, I hate to keep swapping between them but for now I am kind of trying to feel out which one is better for this, let me know!)

...

Amount of AI used in this chapter:

Used AI for the body evolution scene because I couldn't quite describe it myself well enough.

Used a small amount of AI for the intelligence description scene.

(Author note: I am not a very experienced writer and I welcome all suggestions, criticisms, etc. I love marvel though I have not read much comics and whatnot, so I am making this universe MOSTLY based on the MCU with some minor adjustments, for example maybe thanks will be more like his comic versions in that he is literally courting death, not saying he will but that's just an example of what could be a minor adjustment. I will have a cover for this FF soon, just be patient.)

(Last author note: I will be posting chapters at a slow rate at first, likely one a week, but I will increase as time goes on. As I said I am a not very experienced writer and this stuff takes time, please be patient with me, stuff will get steady later on.)
