Chapter 2 - ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY

CHAPTER 2: ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY

[Mr Tyrant meet Miss Clumsy]

Patricia stood at the entrance of the restaurant for a long moment, her eyes filled with tears as everything that had just happened kept replaying in her mind again and again, making it hard for her to even breathe properly as the dream she had carefully built for years seemed to fall apart in less than an hour.

She slowly turned away and walked toward the roadside, her steps heavy and unsteady as different thoughts flooded her mind, mixing anger, frustration, and helplessness all at once.

"I will definitely pay him back…" she muttered under her breath, though she didn't know how she planned to do that.

Raising her hand, she flagged down a taxi and got in without hesitation. "Shasha Residence," she said quietly. The driver nodded and drove off.

Leaning back against the seat, Patricia let out a long breath as she pulled out her phone and checked the time. It was just a few minutes past eight. "So early… and everything is already over…" she thought bitterly.

Not long after, the taxi stopped in front of the apartment, and she stepped out before slowly making her way inside, noticing immediately that the door was not locked, which meant Daisy was still at home.

She pushed the door open and walked in, dropping her bag before sinking into the sofa, her body feeling tired even though the day had barely started.

At that moment, Daisy walked out from the kitchen in her nightwear, holding a cup of tea in one hand while casually eating her breakfast, but the moment she saw Patricia sitting there, she froze in surprise.

"What happened? Why are you back so early?" she asked, lowering her cup slightly as she stared at her.

"I was fired," Patricia replied flatly, her voice calm but filled with pain that was hard to hide. Daisy blinked in disbelief before quickly walking over and sitting beside her.

"What do you mean you were fired?" she asked, her voice rising slightly. "Tricia, how can you be fired from a job you just started today?"

Patricia didn't answer immediately as she stared ahead for a few seconds, then slowly began to narrate everything that had happened at the restaurant, from arriving early, to seeing the strange amount of food, and finally… to spilling the soup.

Daisy listened carefully at first, but the moment Patricia mentioned the name, her entire expression changed.

"Tricia! You mean you actually met my handsome tyrant?" Daisy suddenly squealed, her eyes lighting up with excitement as if she had just heard the best news in the world.

Patricia turned to her with disbelief.

"Are you even listening to me?" she snapped, snapping her fingers in front of Daisy's face.

Daisy quickly came back to reality but still had a dreamy look in her eyes. Daisy had always been a die-hard fan of Wonder Blackson, with his pictures covering almost every wall in her room, and she never stopped talking about him as if he was some kind of unreachable star she was destined to meet one day.

"Daisy, stop dreaming," Patricia said with a sigh. "You know who he is, and you know how many rich women and celebrities want him, yet he never gives any of them a chance."

"I know, Tricia… but I can't help it," Daisy said shyly, blushing slightly.

"I thought you had a boyfriend," Patricia said, lightly tapping her head. "Where are you going to put him?"

"Oh, Jeffrey?" Daisy waved her hand carelessly. "Don't worry, I won't betray him."

Patricia just shook her head before leaning back on the sofa, crossing her arms as worry slowly returned to her face.

"Daisy… What am I going to do now? You know I came to the city because of this job." Daisy paused for a moment as if remembering something important, then suddenly straightened up.

"Oh right! Jeffrey called me earlier this morning," she said quickly. "He said there's a big house looking for a cook, but since I don't know how to cook, I turned it down… but now that you're here, do you want to try it?"

Patricia stayed silent for a few seconds, thinking carefully, before letting out a quiet sigh. "I don't really have a choice," she finally said.

"Good!" Daisy replied immediately as she stood up. "Let me call him and get the details so you can go tomorrow." As Daisy stepped away to make the call, Patricia picked up the remote and turned on the TV, hoping to distract herself from everything that had happened.

But the moment the screen came on, she froze. The news channel was talking about Wonder Blackson, going on about his achievements over the past four years, praising his business growth and influence in the city as if he was some kind of untouchable figure.

Her expression darkened instantly.

Annoyed, she changed the channel. But once again, his name appeared. This time, they were talking about an upcoming volleyball match that would take place in three days, where Wonder Blackson himself would be playing.

Patricia frowned, her irritation growing as she was about to turn off the TV completely.

"Don't change it!" Daisy's voice came from behind as she rushed back into the room. "Let me see the time of the match, this is my only chance to see him in real life!"

"I'm definitely buying a VIP ticket," she continued excitedly. "Jeffrey will come with me too… you should come along!"

But Patricia didn't respond.

Her mind was already somewhere else, busy calculating how much she could earn if she got the cooking job.

At that moment, Daisy's phone beeped. She picked it up quickly, her eyes widening as she read the message.

"Wow, Tricia… you're really lucky," she said with excitement. "The job is still available, and the pay is huge!"

Patricia immediately stood up. "How much?" she asked impatiently. But before Daisy could answer, her phone suddenly rang again.

"It's my dad," she said quickly before stepping aside to take the call.

Patricia was left standing alone in the room, her impatience growing by the second as she began pacing back and forth, her heart beating faster with every step.

She finally sat down, taking a deep breath as she muttered to herself,

"If I get this job… I will never cross paths with that tyrant again."

A few minutes later, Daisy returned. Before she could even sit down, Patricia rushed up to her.

"How much is the pay?" she asked again, her eyes filled with urgency.

Daisy smiled.

"Four thousand dollars a month."

For a moment, Patricia froze. Then her face lit up with excitement as she jumped slightly in disbelief.

But just as quickly, her expression changed again.

"What's wrong?" Daisy asked, noticing it immediately. Patricia slowly sat back down.

"Four thousand a month… for an ordinary house cook?" she said carefully. "Are you sure this isn't something illegal… like human trafficking?"

Daisy rolled her eyes slightly. "You worry too much," she said. "Tomorrow morning, I'll go with you myself, and if anything looks suspicious, I'll call the police immediately."

Patricia stayed silent for a moment before finally nodding slowly. At least… for now, she had another chance.
