Chapter 51 - Sword and Armor

The bombardment from the magic sword brought down the Black Goliath.

"■■■■■■...■■■..."

"We got it down," I said.

"Yeah. Did the magic sword work well?"

"Yes...!"

Bell answered with a bright expression, looking oddly refreshed.

...

Wait a second.

Should he really be looking refreshed?

Most of the projected magic swords were explosive types, weren't they?

"...Then let's go collect the drop item."

He must have just been relieved because we'd taken down a monster.

Let's not think about it.

"What's that?"

"The Goliath hide from earlier."

Bell handed over the thick hide, saying it was payment for the magic sword, so after I took it and returned to camp, I saw the injured and poisoned members moving around as if nothing had happened.

"When are we pulling out?"

"They said we'll head back tomorrow."

"Tomorrow..."

Well, there might be more of those bizarre monsters, so it was probably better to prepare a little more.

I wasn't going on the next expedition, though.

"So... what should I make with this?"

Hide with this much weight and toughness wasn't common, so I had to think about how to use it.

...Should I make armor?

"Aiz. Do you need armor?"

"Hmm... probably?"

Good. Then armor it was.

At last, that damned expedition was over, and I returned to the workshop.

"There's quite a bit of dust."

Since I'd been away for several days, a little dust had gathered in the workshop.

"Are you making it now?"

"Yeah. I'm going to make both the armor and the sword right away."

The sword... I could make the usual way, but the armor was different.

"Let's take your measurements again."

"Okay."

I wasn't making armor to sell, so since it was custom-made, I had to measure everything precisely.

I did have the measurements from last time, but...

"...They don't fit."

"You're still growing, huh."

Aiz had grown again in the meantime, so I needed to take her measurements once more.

"Tell me if it's too tight."

"Okay."

...

Why do I feel someone's presence outside the door?

I didn't know.

I should just get on with the measurements.

"Gently..."

"Sorry."

Did I grip too hard...

"I'll do it again."

"Mm..."

I took out a sheet of paper and approached Aiz to take her measurements.

But then—

"W-Wait! What exactly do you think you're doing right now!?"

"Get your hands off Aiz-chan!"

"?"

Lefiya and Loki suddenly kicked open the workshop door and burst in, putting the measurements on hold.
