šŸ“– Shadow Reign: Rise of the Broken KingChapter 4: The Shadow Gate

The portal pulsed.

Dark energy swirled around it like a living storm.

It wasn't just a gate—

It felt alive.

Arjun stood still, staring at the massive black vortex in front of him.

Cold air rushed out from it, carrying a faint, terrifying whisper.

"…Enter the Shadow Gate."

He narrowed his eyes.

"This is the mission…"

[Mission: Enter the Shadow Gate]

[Time Remaining: 00:52:17]

Time was ticking.

Arjun took a deep breath.

His body was stronger now.

Faster.

Sharper.

But something about that gate…

Felt wrong.

Very wrong.

"…No choice."

Without hesitation—

He stepped forward.

The moment his foot crossed the boundary—

Everything changed.

BOOOOOOM!

A massive force pulled him inside.

The world twisted.

Spun.

Collapsed.

Darkness swallowed him whole.

Then—

Silence.

…

Arjun opened his eyes slowly.

The ground beneath him was cold.

Hard.

He pushed himself up—

And froze.

"…Where am I?"

The world around him was completely different.

A vast, endless land stretched before him.

The sky was pitch black—

With cracks of red lightning tearing through it.

Massive ruins stood in the distance.

Broken towers.

Collapsed structures.

Like a world that had been destroyed long ago.

"This place…"

[Welcome to the Shadow Gate: Zone 1]

The system voice echoed again.

[Objective: Clear the Zone]

[Completion Requirement: Unknown]

Arjun frowned.

"Unknown?"

Before he could think further—

CLICK.

A strange sound echoed behind him.

He turned slowly.

And his eyes widened.

A tall figure stood there.

Not a monster.

Not exactly human either.

Its body was covered in dark armor.

Its face hidden behind a cracked mask.

And in its hand—

A long black blade.

"…A swordsman?" Arjun muttered.

The figure tilted its head slightly.

Then—

It disappeared.

"WHAT—?!"

Arjun's instincts screamed.

He turned—

Too late.

CLANG!

A blade clashed against his metal rod.

Sparks flew.

The impact pushed him back several steps.

"…Fast…" Arjun gritted his teeth.

The masked swordsman stood silently.

No sound.

No emotion.

Only killing intent.

"…So this is different from monsters…"

[Shadow Gate Guardian Detected]

Guardian.

Arjun's grip tightened.

"Then I'll kill you too."

The swordsman moved again.

Faster than before.

SLASH!

Arjun barely dodged.

The blade cut through the air—

Missing his neck by inches.

"Damn…"

This enemy wasn't mindless.

It was skilled.

Calculated.

Deadly.

Arjun activated his skill—

[Shadow Step Activated]

WHOOSH!

He vanished—

Reappearing behind the swordsman.

"Got you!"

He attacked—

But—

CLANG!

Blocked.

The swordsman turned instantly—

As if it already knew.

"…It read my move?!"

A kick came out of nowhere—

BAM!

Arjun was thrown back again.

He rolled across the ground—

Barely stopping himself.

"…This is bad…"

The guardian slowly walked toward him.

Step by step.

No rush.

No hesitation.

Like it knew—

Arjun would lose.

"…Not happening."

Arjun wiped the blood from his lips.

His eyes darkened.

"If brute force doesn't work…"

"Then I'll adapt."

The shadows around him began to move again.

Slowly.

Quietly.

Invisible.

The swordsman charged again—

SLASH!

Arjun dodged—

But this time—

He didn't attack.

He retreated.

Again.

And again.

The guardian pressed forward.

Relentless.

But Arjun was watching.

Learning.

"…Your pattern…"

He noticed something.

Every attack—

Had a rhythm.

Every move—

Followed a sequence.

"…Found it."

The swordsman lunged once more—

At that exact moment—

Arjun smiled.

"Now."

[Shadow Bind Activated]

BOOM!

Dark chains exploded from the ground—

Wrapping around the guardian's legs.

It struggled—

But for a second—

Just one second—

It stopped.

And that was enough.

Arjun dashed forward—

[Shadow Step Activated]

He appeared right in front of it—

"This ends now!"

He drove the rod forward—

CRACK!

The mask shattered.

For a moment—

Their eyes met.

Empty.

Lifeless.

Then—

STAB!

The rod pierced through its chest.

Silence.

The guardian froze.

Then collapsed.

THUD.

Arjun stood still.

Breathing heavily.

"…Stronger than monsters…"

DING!

[Guardian Eliminated]

[Zone Progress: 20%]

"…Only 20%?" he frowned.

Before he could react—

The ground trembled.

Cracks spread beneath his feet.

From the darkness—

More figures emerged.

One.

Two.

Five.

All wearing masks.

All holding weapons.

Arjun's expression darkened.

"…You've got to be kidding me."

šŸ”„ The real challenge had just begun.
