📖 Chapter 3: The First Descent

The moment I activated the system…

The world changed.

A sharp pulse of silver light burst from my body, wrapping around me like a cocoon.

For a split second, everything felt weightless.

Then—

The ground rushed upward.

No.

Not the ground.

I was shrinking.

My desk stretched into a towering structure.

The chair legs thickened into massive pillars.

The grain of the wooden floor expanded into deep ridges and valleys.

Every tiny detail of the world… became enormous.

My breath hitched.

"Too fast—"

But the process had already begun.

There was no stopping it now.

Smaller.

Smaller.

Smaller.

The air felt heavier somehow, denser against my skin. Even the faint hum of electricity in the walls now sounded like a distant roar.

Then—

It stopped.

Silence.

I stood frozen.

Heart pounding.

Hands trembling.

Slowly… carefully… I looked around.

My room…

was gone.

Or rather—

It had become something else entirely.

What used to be my simple bedroom floor now looked like a vast, uneven landscape. Dust particles sat like scattered boulders. A single thread from the carpet stretched like a fallen rope bridge.

I took a cautious step forward.

The ground felt rough beneath my feet.

Real.

All of it was real.

"I actually did it…"

My voice sounded smaller. Softer.

Almost swallowed by the space around me.

A strange mix of fear and excitement bubbled inside me.

This wasn't just a power.

This was a completely different world.

I turned back instinctively—

And froze.

Behind me sat the metal box.

Or rather…

Something that used to be a box.

Now?

It looked like a massive fortress.

Cold metal walls rising high above me, smooth and impenetrable.

A slow smile spread across my face.

"Perfect…"

If I stayed at this size…

No one could find me.

No one could touch me.

No one could hurt me.

For the first time since my rebirth—

I felt safe.

But safety alone wasn't enough.

I needed control.

"System…"

My voice was steady now.

"Can I reverse it?"

A soft chime responded.

[Reduction is reversible.]

[Size restoration available at will.]

Good.

That meant I wasn't trapped.

This wasn't a risk.

It was an advantage.

I exhaled slowly.

Then turned back toward the towering "fortress."

"Let's build something better."

Climbing wasn't easy.

At this scale, even a slight edge felt like a cliff.

But I adapted quickly—using grooves, tiny dents, and corners as footholds.

Step by step…

I made my way up.

By the time I reached the top, I was breathing heavily—but smiling.

Inside the "box"…

was everything.

Miniaturized food packs stacked like crates.

Water bottles lined up like storage tanks.

Tools, clothes, batteries—

All perfectly preserved.

All within reach.

"This…"

I whispered.

"…is my world now."

I carefully opened one of the tiny food packs.

To my surprise, it returned to normal size the moment I focused on it.

So that was the rule.

Objects could be resized freely.

Not just reduced—restored too.

I took a bite.

The taste was the same.

But the satisfaction?

Even greater.

Outside, thunder crashed violently.

The storm was getting worse.

Curious, I climbed to the edge and looked out across the vast expanse of my "room."

From this height, I could see everything.

The door.

The walls.

Even faint light slipping through the cracks.

Then—

Something moved.

I froze.

Eyes narrowing.

Near the base of the "mountain"…

A shadow shifted.

Small.

Fast.

Alive.

An ant.

At my previous size, it would have been insignificant.

Something to ignore.

Something to crush without thought.

But now?

It was nearly half my size.

Its antennae twitched as it moved, scanning the terrain.

Searching.

For food.

For territory.

For anything it could claim.

Including this place.

I slowly stood up.

Heart steady.

Mind sharp.

"This is my territory now…"

The ant moved closer.

Step by step.

Unaware.

I picked up a tiny metal pin from my supplies.

At this scale—

It was a spear.

"Let's see…"

I murmured.

"…how this world really works."

The ant lunged suddenly.

Fast.

Aggressive.

But I was faster.

One step to the side—

A precise strike—

The pin pierced through.

Silence.

The ant stopped moving.

I stood there for a moment.

Breathing.

Thinking.

Then slowly pulled the weapon back.

"No hesitation…"

I muttered.

This wasn't my old world anymore.

Here—

Even the smallest things could kill you.

But that went both ways.

I looked out across my miniature domain.

At the towering structures.

The endless terrain.

The hidden possibilities.

A slow, determined smile formed on my face.

"In a world of giants…"

I said quietly,

"…I'll become the ruler of the small."

Thunder roared again.

But this time—

It felt distant.

Far away from my tiny paradise.

To be continued… 🔥
