Chapter 2 - The Girl in the Black Hoodie

It was morning.

The traces of last night's fight were still there, lingering in the room. A shattered window. Scratches across the floor. And that same strange silence, like the air itself hadn't settled yet.

Yoru stood in front of the mirror and stared at his own reflection.

"Last night... was it real?"

He lifted his hand slowly, as if he was trying to confirm something by touch alone.

But nothing happened.

Nothing at all.

"Maybe... it was just a dream..."

Before he could finish the thought—

Knock. Knock.

The sound came from the door.

Yoru froze.

"This early in the morning...?"

He opened the door.

And there she was.

A girl in a black hoodie. A cold expression. Eyes that looked like they could see straight through everything.

"Are you Yoru?" she asked without hesitation.

Yoru frowned. "Yes... but who are you?"

She didn't answer. She just stepped inside like she already belonged there.

Her gaze moved around the room.

The broken window.

The damage on the floor.

Then she looked back at him.

"So, you did all this."

Yoru's heart skipped a beat.

"I... I don't understand—"

"Don't act stupid," the girl cut in. "Last night, you activated your Abyss."

The room went silent.

Yoru's mind blanked.

"Abyss...?"

The girl let out a small sigh, like she had expected exactly that.

"I figured you wouldn't know anything."

She walked closer and stopped right in front of him.

"Listen. You aren't normal."

Yoru lowered his gaze slightly.

"I can tell that much myself..."

The girl answered without changing her expression.

"There is a monster inside you."

Silence.

Yoru's eyes widened a little.

The memory from last night flashed through his mind.

Red eyes.

Black energy.

That voice.

He looked up again.

"Who are you?" he asked at last.

The girl paused for a moment before answering.

"Sairi."

Then, after a brief silence, she added,

"I'm just like you."

Yoru stared at her in shock.

"You mean... you also—?"

Sairi narrowed her eyes slightly.

And for just a second, the temperature in the room seemed to drop.

A thin layer of frost spread across the floor.

"The difference," Sairi said calmly, "is that I am in control."

Yoru said nothing.

"What happened last night," she continued, "was only the beginning."

Her voice stayed cold.

"People will come looking for you now."

Yoru tensed.

"What people?"

Sairi looked him straight in the eye.

"The ones who control monsters... and the ones who kill them."

The room fell silent again.

Yoru spoke more quietly this time.

"You mean... I'm in danger?"

Sairi answered without hesitation.

"No..."

Then, after a short pause, she finished,

"Everyone is in danger."
