Chapter 4 - The lady's scream

Our spirit watched everything unfolding with his own unflinching eyes, beholding a battle between a woman and a beast.

His eyes held the shine of a child's when that child watches porn for the first time with the blessings of his friends. He licked his lips as if the scene were something worth drooling over.

By God! The depraved thoughts of humans!

With blurry eyes and wobbling legs, the tiger once again opened its mouth. A flicker of fire transformed into a flickering ball of flames. Anyone could see that the intensity and size of the fireball had dropped significantly from what it once was.

With a loud growl and eyes glinting red, the beast shot the fireball at the dome of the shield. Though the speed at which the ball was shot was significantly less than that of the previous fireballs.

The girl, feeling the burning sensation on her left forearm and the bleeding from various parts of her body, was already trembling in pain and fear. Yet, seeing the tiger still hurling attacks at her even while it looked as though it would drop dead the next second, she sighed. She couldn't help but widen her eyes in terror and grit her teeth in frustration and hope.

Seeing the incoming attack and her own almost-broken shield, she clenched her pale, blood-streaked fist and prayed inside her mind.

Please! Please! Shield! My shield, don't break! My shield, don't break! I don't want to get eaten by that beast! That disgusting, filthy, worthless beast! Please! Please! Hold on, shield! Hold on, shield!

But alas, whose wish has ever been granted?

The fireball hit the dome.

SHISSSHH!!

Their collision produced crimson lightning around the point of impact, and with a boom, the dome shattered, taking the fireball with it on the path of disappearance.

A gust of strong and violent wind hit her, blowing her hair and giving her the sensation of falling from the sky. Her white translucent undergarments clung tightly to her chest like a second skin, emphasizing the size of her breasts—which were at least a D-cup—and the firm cherries planted on top of them, pink and perky.

Her hope, like her shield, shattered. Her terrified eyes locked onto the crouching tiger as it readied itself for one last jump for its successful hunt. Its eyes were mocking, hungry, and tired.

The lady tremblingly reached for her sword. But alas, her hand couldn't even take hold of it because of excessive shivering. Her eyes never once gazed at the sword, focusing only on the crouching tiger.

At this time, our spirit's eyes shone with a calculating glint. Moment! he muttered under his breath, for he had been waiting for this exact moment.

The moment of her vulnerability and desperation. Though he wasn't sure if it had truly come to be, there was no choice. What he wanted to do could only happen when the target was desperate and weak—mentally.

And even if this moment, where the lady lost, did not come true, he would have followed the other route, which was not much favourable to him. He abhorred the idea of being subservient to anyone. In fact, he hated it.

Focusing his eyes on the lady, he activated his innate ability, which came from being the Spirit of the Dual Cultivation Chamber.

"Spirit Voice!"

The moment he said it, his voice turned into a seductive, manipulative whisper.

"Do you want to live?" His calm, seductive, alluring voice reached her ears.

She flinched at the unknown voice and looked frantically to her left and right, ignoring the tiger for a heartbeat. But it only angered the tiger more.

It roared as if demanding, Who are you looking for, fool?! Your death is here! Dare you ignore me? Courting death?!

Immediately her senses flared as she looked at the enraged tiger running toward her, its steps heavy and constrained, as if it were thinking of what to do with the lady—whether to eat her or do something beastly.

"Do you want to live?!" Once again a voice came, smooth and soft, asking the same question. She was truly baffled. What the fuck was happening?! She looked around with the corners of her eyes, finding no one.

She thought she had finally gone mad and was hearing things, but at least the voice was calming and soothing.

"Do you want to live?!" The voice came once more. But she couldn't focus on it as the tiger was nearing her. Her heart thumped hard against her ribs, her body perspiring, her blood running cold. She tried to drag her bottom backwards with her hands and desperate movements. She was so afraid that scenes from her life flashed through her mind. She couldn't help but tremble, yet this time there was a little annoyance in her eyes as the voice kept asking, Do you want to live?!

Her flashing life scenes shattered as the tiger roared and lunged at her. Her eyes widened and she frantically tried to scrape the ground and drag herself backwards, but she was so stunned, and fear had clawed so deeply into her heart, that her blood ran cold and her movements halted.

Just as the tiger's claws flashed with a silvery-red glint before her eyes—so close—the voice once again asked, DO YOU WANT TO LIVE?!

The lady was annoyed by the constant buzzing and the excessive fear. She didn't believe that voice for a single heartbeat. She knew her mind was playing tricks on her.

Why would someone dare to lurk around this part of the Bezong Wilderness? Only someone with a death wish. And she hadn't met anyone who actively sought death. By some chance, if someone were here, why would they save her? Instead of wasting their time on her, wouldn't it be better to do the deed they had come here for and get lost at the first chance they got? And what better chance could they get than right now? So she was under no illusion of being saved.

But the voice kept annoying her, and her annoyance reached such a high threshold that for a moment she even forgot her fear and yelled at the top of her lungs,

"YES!! FUCK! I WANT TO LIVE!! WHO THE FUCK WANTS TO DIE??!!!!!"

She poured every ounce of her strength into the scream. The tiger's claws were now just inches away. She closed her eyes after screaming, now waiting for her death.

But the supposed death…
