The plane landed about two hours later.
Outside the private airport, four black cars were already waiting quietly.
The moment Kevin stepped out of the plane, several people straightened nervously.
"President Kevin."
Kevin gave a slight nod before walking toward the first car.
Loretta followed silently behind him.
The moment the two entered the backseat, the convoy immediately started moving.
"Gladstone Residence," Kevin instructed calmly.
Loretta looked at him quickly.
"I live alone now," she reminded him carefully. She honestly did not want to face her mother and the others.
Without even lifting his eyes from the tablet in his hand, Kevin replied, "You need to return to prepare for the engagement party." His tone was calm and final.
Loretta opened her mouth slightly, wanting to protest, but when she saw his attention was fixed on his screen, she quietly swallowed her words.
She did not dare anger this man, she wanted to live a few more days.
The car became silent afterward.
Loretta quietly stared outside the window while the city streets passed by.
Everything felt strangely unreal.
Just yesterday she had been walking around freely with Mika, laughing and enjoying herself. She thought she would have more carefree days but now she was back here.
Loretta glanced sideways quietly.
Kevin remained focused on his work the entire ride. His posture was straight while one hand rested against the armrest calmly. Even inside the moving car, he looked composed and untouchable.
Loretta honestly could not understand him.
Sometimes he looked cold enough to scare her to death.
Other times, he quietly noticed things no one else paid attention to.
Like arranging breakfast for her on the plane and knowing she would need a caregiver when she was sick.
The memory made her lower her eyes slightly. She was not sure how she felt about her situation.
The drive to the Gladstone resident took half an hour. When they arrived a bodyguard guard step forward to open the car.
Kevin made no attempt to get down. Loretta got down and saw Colins getting her luggage from another car. She made a mental note to turn around and leave once Kevin was gone but to her surprise he remains seat the car door opened he was watching her.
Loretta bite her lips and realized he must have seen through her plans.
Left with no choice she began to Walk towards the entrance of the house.
Colins followed behind. A servant had noticed when the cars stopped and had gone to inform Mrs Gladstone so before Loretta got to the front door it was pulled open.
Mrs Gladstone and Isabella walked out together.
"Loretta!"
Mrs. Gladstone hurried down the stairs looking emotional.
"You are finally back." she sounded like a mother who had missed her daughter.
Loretta could not help but praise her mother in her heart. "Keep putting on the act," she knew that the only reason her mother was not snapping was because Kevin's car was still outside.
"Mr Goodman," Mrs Glandstone carefully approached his car. "Would you like to come in for tea,' she invited him. She was both scared and worried that she would do something wrong.
"No need," Kevin said. He then shot the bodyguard a look. The bodyguard quickly closed the door.
Andy on the second car could not help but click his tongue. "My boss is really a fox," he could guess that the reason why Kevin brought Loretta back was because he did not want her to elope before the marriage but he would not do it himself, so he handed her over to the Gladstone family.
Loretta watched as the cars drove away.
Mrs Glandstone and Isabella were doing the same thing.
Once the car was gone, Loretta also decided to leave but she had just taken two steps when Mrs Glandstone blocked her. "Where do you think you are going?" All the act of a caring mother disappear. Her voice and gaze were filled with Venom.
"My apartment," Loretta answered simple.
"Ahh! " Mrs Gladstone laughed, she believes that Kevin her specially brought her back so that they would keep an eye on her. Mr. Gladstone was conviced that Kevin knew about Loretta's attempts to elope. So Loretta could not be allowed to return to her apartment. What if she found the chance to run again.
Thinking in this direction her anger flew up. "You dare to disgrace the Gladstone family after all we have done for you?" She question remembering her actions of liking that article that cost the company to loss money.
Loretta ignored her planing to walk around her and leave but Mrs Glandstone was very swift. She blocked her part again.
"You have indeed grown wings, " she spat as she raised her hand to slap Loretta. She felt that she needed to displine Loretta to submission.
Loretta was shocked. She did not expect her mother to suddenly hit her. Everything had happened quickly or perhaps she was not used to dodging so she brace herself for the impact but it never came.
Colins had moved at some point to hold Mrs Gladstone hand.
"Who are you?" Mrs Gladstone was both shocked and angry.
"The bodyguard arranged by Mr Goodman to keep the madame safe," he said.
"So, I am just disciplining my daughter, is that not allowed," Mrs Gladstone moved to free her hand and Colins let go.
"You can speak with your mouth, but Miss Gladstone can absolutely not get hurt," Colins said with a serious expression.
Actually Kevin did not give that order but he had seen the news and understood that this family did not treat Loretta well.
Even if he doubted it, Mrs Gladstone actions of acting like a caring mother when Other were present and switched once they were gone was enough evidence.
Mrs Glandstone was stunned. She did not expect Kevin to be so thoughtful. She took another look at Loretta and noticed she was glowing. Looking very beautiful like someone who had no care in life.
For a second, Mrs Gladstone Wonder if it was a mistake allowing Loretta to marry in place of Isabella.
Could it be that she misunderstood Kevin's actions and he was a kind a proper man who would dote on his wife? The thought only lasted a second before she pushed it out of her mind.
No matter how good a husband Kevin could be, he was a disaster who already caused the death of three woman.
Loretta almost drowned the day they got engaged. A man with such bad fate no matter how good he was, she would never let Isabella take such risks.
