Chapter 5 - Feeling of Familiarity (Part- 2)

The room was lit up with warn tone lights and devoid of any sound until, a glass fell down and shattered into thousand pieces. Yet Yuexin paid to attention to it. She stood still without moving an inch in front of the screen. Her eyes widened like she was seeing a ghost.

"What— what is happening?"

"Ha ha... this must be a prank!"

Yuexin panicked and looked around for something, something that could assure her that everything is just a dream. But it was not. The date on the magazines were 4027. The screen on the panel showed the time, date and year: 9:30 PM, Moday 12th April, 4027.

"4027!!! Why is showing the year 4027. They must've forgotten to update it I guess. ... I should check out other channels." Cartoon, Entertainment, News and then—

"The Young-Rising Artist Su Lianyu to Hold His Own Concert This Summer Before Going Into Hiatus"

Yuexin fell down on her knees gasping. "I'm... 5 years back... in the past!!!"

Some few minutes later she sat on the sofa with an annoyed face having her favorite strawberry flavored chocolate that she had kept in her jeans with one leg on the table.

"Huh... I can't believe I'm 5 years in the past. No wonder everything seemed so weird on my way here. Now what should I do? Should I tell Minye-jie the truth or not. ...Hmm it would be too risky to do that. She said she is from an organization who handles unusual incidents. She must be from ARB- Anomaly Regulation Bureau. An organization mostly involved with rare phenomena and keeps everything in control."

Everyone knew what was an anomaly distortion. It is a rare phenomena where time, places and gets people displace. Due to which some people who gets involved often forgets a piece of their memory or identity. Anomaly distortions were discovered hundreds of years ago but no one knows the reason behind these distortions. The chances of it happening is 1 out of million but... Yuexin couldn't believe that it was happening with her.

She took a long sigh and lay down on the sofa. "They will probability interrogate or even worse... what if they never let me go? I will be stuck here forever."

Yuexin didn't try to sleep that night. She stood In front of the glass window, watching the dawn unfold like an obedient student. After a few minutes she walked slowly around the room, as if she were just passing time. Her eyes, however were working discreetly. Like she was looking for something. The corners of the ceiling. The panel. The door frame and every corner of the room.

"…No visible cameras," she murmured.

She stepped out side the room and slowly looked left and right. Every corner of the hall was set up with camera. Then she went down to the lobby through the elevator. The lobby was quieter now. He Chen, the receptionist looked up the moment she approached.

"Morning," she said lightly. "Good morning ma'am! How was your sleep last night?" he asked.

"Oh It was much better than I thought," She lied.

Yuexin leaned slightly on the desk, relaxed. "…This place is bigger than it looks," she said. "…How many floors?"

"Thirty-two."

"That explains why I got lost earlier," she said lightly. (Not true.) A brief pause. "…Do guests usually stay on higher floors? she added.

His gaze lingered for a while. "Certain floors are reserved." "…Ah," Yuexin nodded.

"VIPs?"

"Something like that."

Yuexin smiled faintly".…And exits?" she asked casually. "I saw the main entrance, but are there others?"

This time he didn't answer immediately.

"Emergency stairwells," he said finally. "And they're monitored too, in case any of our guest needs our help."

Yuexin laughed nervously, "Of course they are. Umm... If you don't mind, can I have a cup of jasmine tea in my room. I always have it early in the morning."

"Of course, I'll send someone immediately to bring you a cup of jasmine tea." As he smiled at her.

"Thank you!"

Back in the room. After couple of minutes, someone knocked on her door. "Who is it?" Yuexin asked. "I've brought your jasmine tea ma'am." A woman replied.

Yuexin opened the door for her. but when the woman was about to enter the room, she stumbled upon a piece of threads which Yuexin had tied it on the sides of the door frame making her fall to the ground.

But before the woman could do anything, she swiftly delivered a karate chop to the side of her neck. Making the woman lose consciousness immediately and saved the tea tray from breaking.

Yuexin told herself with a mischievous smile as if she was proud of herself. "Yuexin... I didn't know you were good at things like this."

She quickly dragged the woman inside and closed the door before anyone could see it and tied her hands and legs in the bedroom. She then changed into the woman's navy blue hotel uniform and gave her clothes to the woman.

After a few minutes she walked out the door wearing the woman's uniform with one hand holding the try. She took the elevator to the 2nd floor and then the emergency stairs to the exit so that no one can see her.

Before exiting, she took off her navy blue jacket and threw it in the trash can along with the tray and tied her hair like a bun with a stick, making her look like an office worker.

She walked as fast as she could and didn't look back. After an hour, the hotel was no longer visible. She just walked around streets blending with the crowds, looking here and there.

"Everything looks the same as the future except for the events that hasn't happened yet." Yuexin murmured as she looked around. "Stay focused Yuexin!" She continued. "I'll have to think of a way to go back but a while I'll need a safe place.

"And I know the exact place where it will be safe. East Lin District. Qinghe Street. Block 12." Then she turned around a corner and vanished.

"Inform him." A soft voice was heard from behind unbeknown to Yuexin.
