Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: THE EDGE OF WAR

The next morning did not begin with comfort or rest. It began with purpose. The training ground still carried the faint traces of yesterday's exhaustion, but neither Lee Hyun nor Min Seoah showed any sign of slowing down. Their bodies had adapted, their minds sharpened, and more importantly, they had begun to understand what their master truly meant by "real growth."

Power alone wasn't enough. Not in a world like this. When they arrived before her again, she was already waiting, standing at the center of the field as always, her presence calm, but carrying a pressure that never faded. Her eyes rested on them for a brief moment, scanning them, measuring something deeper than just strength.

"…You're ready."

It wasn't a question, it was a statement. Both of them straightened instinctively.

"What comes next… is not training."

Her voice lowered slightly.

"It's survival."

A faint pause followed before she continued.

"The place you're going…"

For the first time, her expression turned serious.

"…is not something you can treat lightly."

Lee Hyun's eyes sharpened slightly. Min Seoah remained silent, but attentive.

"…You will be sent to the border battlefield known as Crimson Rift Frontier."

The name alone carried weight. A place where the ground itself had been stained by years of war, where the sky often remained dim under lingering energy, and where life and death existed side by side without warning.

"It is not just a battlefield between humans and demons."

She continued calmly.

"It is a fractured zone. A convergence point. Where multiple races clash, survive… and hunt."

As she spoke, the atmosphere seemed to shift.

"Humans, Demons, Elves—masters of nature and long-range control, Witches—users of forbidden and curse-based magic, Ancient Beasts—entities that do not belong to any faction, but dominate territories through raw power."

Her gaze deepened slightly.

"And beyond them… A few… things that should not exist."

Silence fell. Even Lee Hyun felt it. This wasn't a dungeon. This wasn't controlled. This was real.

"There are no fixed rules there. No protection. No safety. If you die… you die."

Her words were simple. But absolute. Min Seoah's fingers tightened slightly. Lee Hyun remained still.

"…Understood."

He answered calmly.

Their master nodded slightly.

"You will survive there for one week. No support. No intervention. You rely only on yourselves."

A faint pause. Then, her gaze shifted toward Lee Hyun.

"This mission… is primarily for you."

His expression didn't change. But his attention sharpened.

"You've reached Level 40. You already know what that means."

He nodded slightly.

"…First Job Change."

She continued.

"The world itself has recognized your growth. And now… It demands proof."

A faint ripple of energy passed through the air as she raised her hand, and a system-like projection appeared before them briefly.

"It has already assigned your path."

Lee Hyun's eyes flickered slightly.

"…You've seen it?"

"Yes."

A short answer.

"But I won't tell you everything."

A pause.

"You'll find out there."

Silence followed.

Then, her gaze shifted toward Min Seoah.

"And for you… This is also your chance."

Min Seoah looked up slightly.

"You're missing something."

Her master spoke calmly.

"The final piece. For your bloodline evolution."

Min Seoah's eyes narrowed slightly.

"You mean…"

She nodded.

"Yes. It exists there. In the deeper zones of Crimson Rift Frontier."

A faint tension formed in the air.

"If the opportunity appears…"

Her voice became slightly colder.

"…take it, don't miss it."

Min Seoah didn't hesitate.

"…I will."

Their master looked at both of them once more.

"You'll leave tomorrow."

A simple sentence. But it marked the beginning of something far more dangerous than anything they had faced so far.

"Prepare properly. Because once you enter… There is no turning back."

The walk back to their house was quieter than usual. Not because of fear. But because both of them were thinking, processing and planning. Crimson Rift Frontier. A battlefield where multiple races collided. Where survival wasn't guaranteed. Where even a small mistake, could cost everything.

Inside the house, the atmosphere felt different today. More focused, more serious. Lee Hyun began preparing immediately, opening his system inventory, checking his equipment, organizing resources, potions, recovery items, and essential tools. His Demon's Sword rested quietly by his side, but even without touching it, he could feel its presence, its readiness.

Min Seoah moved as well, her actions calm but efficient, gathering her own items, adjusting her gear, preparing for long-term combat rather than short bursts. After a while, she spoke.

"…Crimson Rift Frontier."

Her voice was quiet.

"I've heard of it before."

Lee Hyun glanced at her.

"…And?"

She paused briefly.

"…It's worse than what people say."

A short silence followed. Then,

"…Good."

He replied.

She looked at him.

"…You're not even slightly worried?"

He shook his head slightly.

"If it was easy… there would be no point."

For a moment, she stared at him.

Then, a faint smirk appeared.

"…You really are crazy."

He didn't deny it.

After that, they continued preparing in silence, but this time, it wasn't uncomfortable. It was the kind of silence shared between people who understood each other without needing too many words.

As night fell, both of them finished their preparations. Weapons ready, supplies prepared, mindset set. Before resting, Lee Hyun stepped outside briefly, looking up at the sky. The calm before the storm. He could feel it clearly.

This mission, would change everything. Not just for him. But for both of them. Inside, Min Seoah watched him for a moment, then quietly turned away, lying down to rest, conserving her strength for what was coming.

Morning arrived faster than expected. Without hesitation or delay, they stood at the academy gate, their master already there, waiting. She looked at them once.

"…Good."

Without another word, she raised her hand. A spatial array activated beneath their feet. Energy gathered. The air distorted.

"This is your path now."

Her voice echoed slightly.

"Survive. Grow. And return stronger."

The light intensified. And in the next moment, they disappeared. When the light faded, the world had changed. The air was heavier, the sky darker. The ground cracked and stained with traces of old battles.

Far in the distance, txplosions echoed. Roars, screams and energy fluctuations was like casual there. Lee Hyun stepped forward slowly, his eyes scanning the surroundings.

"…So this is it."

Min Seoah stood beside him, her expression calm, but her aura slightly rising instinctively.

"…Crimson Rift Frontier."

The battlefield of chaos. The place where strength meant survival. And weakness, meant death. Lee Hyun's grip tightened slightly on his sword. A faint smile appeared.

"…Perfect."
