Chapter 70 - Between Two Worlds

The Shadow Territory felt different when Adrian left it.

Not weaker.

Not smaller.

Just… unattended.

Like something powerful had briefly stepped away from a body that still remembered how to breathe.

Behind him, the castle remained stable. The army continued its drills under the four Duke commanders. The land itself kept its fractured structure, quietly adjusting to the absence of its anchor.

Adrian stood at the central platform near the castle gate.

Seraphina Dravena was already there waiting.

As always, she did not look like someone who arrived.

She looked like someone the world simply made space for.

Hannah stood a short distance behind Adrian, arms crossed.

Kael was beside her.

Selene and Niamh stood together slightly farther back.

Lirael watched quietly, as usual, not interrupting.

Hannah exhaled. "So we're going to the human world now?"

Kael replied, "That is the stated destination."

Selene's gaze remained fixed on Seraphina. "This movement is politically sensitive."

Niamh nodded softly. "It connects both worlds…"

Adrian looked at Seraphina. "You're actually taking us yourself?"

Seraphina nodded once.

"Yes."

No explanation needed.

No negotiation.

Just fact.

---

The space around them shifted.

Not violently.

Not like teleportation.

More like reality deciding to align differently.

The Shadow Territory faded behind them like a closing thought.

Then Nexus Vald appeared briefly in layered fragments.

And finally—

The human world emerged.

---

They arrived above a quiet coastal city.

Night had fallen.

Lights from buildings below formed familiar patterns of civilization—messy, unstructured, alive in a completely different way than Nexus.

Adrian exhaled slowly.

"…That feels lighter," he muttered.

Hannah stretched slightly. "Finally. A world that doesn't feel like it's judging you."

Kael replied immediately, "It is still judging. Just less openly."

Selene glanced downward. "No authority pressure."

Niamh looked around softly. "It feels normal…"

Lirael didn't speak—but her gaze softened slightly.

---

Seraphina stood beside Adrian, looking down at the human world.

Then she spoke.

"You cannot open inter-dimensional space properly yet," she said.

Adrian glanced at her. "That sounds like a skill issue."

"It is," she replied calmly.

Hannah snorted. "At least she's honest about it."

Kael muttered, "That is worse than diplomacy."

Seraphina continued.

"If you want controlled travel between Nexus and the human world," she said, "you will require a witch."

Adrian frowned slightly. "A witch?"

Selene's eyes narrowed. "Portal-class magic users."

Niamh nodded. "They can stabilize dimensional passage…"

Hannah raised a hand. "Wait—so we need to hire someone now?"

Seraphina nodded once.

"Yes."

A pause.

"They are the only ones who can reliably connect both worlds without destabilizing authority layers."

Adrian sighed. "…Great. Now we're recruiting."

---

Seraphina turned slightly toward Adrian.

"You are still not strong enough to open stable space between dimensions," she said.

A pause.

"So do not attempt it."

Adrian gave her a look. "That sounds like a warning."

"It is," she replied.

Hannah muttered, "She really doesn't sugarcoat anything."

Kael nodded. "Consistent behavior."

Selene added quietly, "Practical governance."

Niamh smiled faintly. "She is guiding him…"

Lirael simply watched Adrian.

---

Seraphina raised her hand slightly.

The air around them shifted again.

A soft transition, like stepping through layers of folded reality.

"We return," she said.

---

And they were gone from the human world.

---

The Shadow Territory reappeared beneath them.

Stable.

Waiting.

The castle stood unchanged.

But something was different.

Because the moment Adrian stepped back onto his territory platform—

He felt it.

Not pressure.

Not authority.

Information.

---

Kael stood stiffly. "…Something has changed."

Selene narrowed her eyes. "News has spread faster than expected."

Niamh looked concerned. "Across multiple supernatural factions…"

Hannah frowned. "What now?"

---

A moment later—

The boundary of the territory rippled.

Not an invasion.

Not an attack.

A signal.

Adrian turned slowly.

"…That was fast."

Kael replied, "They are reacting to your title."

Selene added quietly, "And your return from Nexus."

Niamh whispered, "Something is moving…"

---

Then—

Adrian's phone buzzed.

Once.

Twice.

A message.

From Elias Cole.

---

**"Come home."**

---

Adrian stared at it for a moment.

"…He already knows," he muttered.

Hannah leaned over. "Knows what?"

Adrian didn't answer immediately.

Because the next message arrived.

---

**Elias Cole:**

> "Your title is circulating. Shadow Territory, Nexus recognition, and Dracula's decree are not staying hidden."

> "Werewolves are moving."

> "Fae courts are observing."

> "Even the Inquisition has begun to shift."

> "This is no longer a private matter."

---

Silence fell.

Kael exhaled slowly. "…That escalated quickly."

Selene's gaze sharpened. "Multiple factions activating simultaneously is not normal."

Niamh looked worried. "This could become global…"

Hannah muttered, "So basically… he got famous in the worst possible way."

---

Adrian lowered his phone slightly.

Then exhaled.

"…Yeah," he said quietly.

"That sounds about right."

He looked out across his Shadow Territory.

No longer empty.

No longer hidden.

And now—

No longer ignored.

Somewhere far beyond human sightlines, the supernatural world had begun to move.

Not toward peace.

Not toward war.

But toward **recognition of a new variable.**
