After escaping from the guards, the trio managed to reach their home safely. And after reaching their home, Rowan supports his sister to walk after getting down from the wagon as she is not stable and still taking in the whole incident as it feels too surreal like a fever dream, but it's the reality and she seems to regret her decision of opening about this matter to her brother.
But what's done is done and they need to think of something before the guards arrive here, they know that the villagers would have snitched on them by now. Amanda was waiting for them by the door for their arrival and when she saw them, she rushed outside to see her children.
After checking on both of her children and making sure they were not hurt anywhere, a visible sense of reassurance crossed her face. Seeing his mother's confused face, he realises that she is trying to ask him about where they went and what they did. He then tells everything that happened there to his mother.
After hearing the explanation, she slapped Rowan across the face and asked him, "why the hell would you do this to us, you do know that you have brought the wrath of the governor upon my family".
"Who are you to take this decision behalf of my family, this matter would have been resolved easily if she doesn't go out of this house anymore, by now the villagers would have informed the guards regarding our whereabouts and might be even coming towards here" she says while panicking.
"Even though you are not my biological son I still treated you as my own son, I fed you and nourished you when we found you washed up ashore by the dock. We considered you as our son who died at a young age hoping that you would fill in the gap, but now to think that you would be the reason for our family's demise".
She begs him to leave them and asks him to get out of their lives; she then grabs her daughter's hand and went inside without turning back and closed the door.
Rowan feels a hand touching his shoulder, it was Lena's. Even though she is a stranger in their lives and doesn't know about them very well, she still feels sad about what had happened and feels guilty as she thinks that misfortune follows her and also affects others surrounding her.
"As a brother what you did was brave and as well as the right thing to do" she tells him while emphasising with his situation and tries a bit to console him. "it's fine and I also know that she said that to make me leave and escape from here".
"So, what are you going to do Rowan" she asks and waits for a reply, "I can't just leave them as it is, I consider them as my family wholeheartedly".
"I am going to protect them and will save them even if it had to end up in blood shed" he says with resolve and fire ablaze in his eye.
