Finally, the duo arrived at the Blackwood residence, Lena thought that she would see a rundown shabby or a barely liveable hut but to her surprise the house has a good infrastructure and a decent look. She was ashamed of herself that she stereotyped and judged him unfairly when she heard his story.
Rowan's mother was waiting outside awaiting her son's arrival, she also seemed to be worried about something. But when she saw her son coming towards their home, she rushed out to get him and hugged him.
"Mom what's the matter? you are embarrassing me" Rowan was embarrassed to look at Lena. "I was afraid that something bad would have happened to you, I had a bad dream today and I saw some bad omens too" she explained while panicking.
"Don't worry mom, look at me I am totally fine and besides who could possibly hurt me" he smirks and calms down his mother. Rowan's mother finally noticing the person beside Rowan "and who is this lady you brought along, I never thought you were into older woman".
He hurriedly stops his mom before it leads to further misunderstanding and explains the situation to her and after hearing that Lena saved Rowan's life, she thanked Lena and invited her inside their home. "By the way Lena, that was my mom Amanda" he says after his mom went inside to prepare something to eat for both of them. He gestures her to come with him inside and when she entered inside their house, Rowan offered her a chair to sit.
Soon after a while Amanda brought two bowls of soup and few breads to them, "here have some of this dear" she hands the bowl to Lena and places the breads on a stool between them.
It was around the time for dinner as the night falls, "have Jake and Kate eaten yet" he asks his mother before eating. Lena looks at him meaning to ask what he is talking about, "they are my father and younger sister" he says smiling.
"Your father had dinner, but Kate refused to come out of her room and refused to eat. I tried my best to make her eat but failed, I am afraid it's about something that she can't share it with me". Rowan sets his bowl aside and stands up to go upstairs to see his sister, but his mom grabs him and implores him to eat first.
Even though he has a strong urge to go upstairs, seeing his mom asking him like that to eat first. He decides to eat first to ease up his mother's worrying, witnessing this mom-son drama Lena smiles but also feels sad because she never seen her mother before in person, her mother died during labour. Her sister raised her and cared for her in their mother's behalf, the last interaction with her was around 7 years ago and she misses her so much. While she is lost in the nostalgia, Rowan noticed Lena being sad when he saw a drop of tear runs down from her eye, but he didn't press on that matter by respecting her privacy.
