Guinevere's eyes widened as the man knelt beside her and pushed white light into her side.
Her heart was jackhammering like a trapped animal because that light was the same one the cloud-city police carried while they chased her. The same fucking white that kept dropping her into new hellscape locations with hallucinations. The same light that changed the brown room into navy with new furniture.
She locked up completely. The logical corner of her mind registered that he was supposed to be the good guy. The rest of her was having a meltdown.
"Hey. Guinevere." Kael waited until her eyes found his. "He's a healer. They came yesterday after the battle and have been helping everyone."
She gave a single nod. It was all she could manage.
