Chapter 9 - Lynn: Teyvat, My Friend, You’re Generous!

His consciousness returned along the connection, and Lynn slowly opened his eyes.

"You okay? Um… are you done talking?"

As expected, Aveline was the first to check on him, though there was now a trace of urgency in her voice.

The exchange with the macro will hadn't taken long. Communication at that level was incredibly efficient, and such entities didn't beat around the bush. The situation around them hadn't changed much—she had mainly been watching over him while observing the scene.

But because of what Lynn had said earlier, she had paid close attention to the ship beneath them.

And she had indeed noticed something was wrong.

Even though Lynn had resolved the issue of his bad luck, the ship itself had already reached the point of no return.

The malice driving the sea beast—born from the universe's rejection—had faded, but the wounds inflicted by the ballistae remained. It continued attacking the ship relentlessly, accelerating its collapse.

Lynn immediately understood what she meant.

"Don't worry. It's all settled."

Aveline let out a breath of relief.

"Then… should we just escape from the back?"

"I checked earlier. We're quite far from Fontaine, but relatively close to Sumeru's Port Ormos. I can use Cryo to freeze a path—we should be able to make it."

She proposed her plan.

From a practical standpoint, it was the best option. Let the doomed ship and its crew hold off the sea beast while the two of them slipped away across the frozen sea—no swimming required.

But Lynn had a better solution now.

He gently pressed a hand against her, stopping her.

"No need. Just watch."

Aveline blinked, momentarily thinking she was seeing things. From the corner of her eye, she thought she saw a flicker of flame at the edge of Lynn's gaze—something warm and intense, eerily similar to the sacred flames of Natlan.

Wait… flames?

Before she could question it further, fire suddenly surged from Lynn's body.

Blazing heat spread outward, distorting the air and igniting nearby flammable objects—even parts of the deck beneath their feet.

Instinctively, Aveline summoned Cryo to shield herself, but quickly realized something strange.

The flames and heat seemed to avoid her entirely, as if they possessed awareness.

Her eyes widened as she looked at Lynn.

By now, he had begun compressing the flames around him, gathering them into more than a dozen pale fire orbs, each no larger than a baby's fist.

Even hovering quietly in his palm, they triggered her instincts.

Extreme danger.

Yet Lynn wasn't satisfied.

The orbs continued to condense, their color shifting.

More importantly, the flames weren't being forced into shape—they seemed to willingly gather inward, like loyal subjects responding to their ruler's command.

In the end, the fire transformed completely.

What remained were tiny, crystal-clear "gems," no larger than grains of rice.

'Solid phlogiston?'

'…Not quite the same. I'll study it later.'

Lynn raised his gaze toward the battlefield where the sea beast and crew clashed. With a light flick of his finger, the tiny gems shot forward.

They cut through the air without making a sound, reaching their target in an instant.

Then—

They exploded.

In a single moment, both the massive sea beast and the humans fighting it were swallowed by the surging flames. They weren't reduced to ashes outright, but every single one of them lost their lives instantly.

"Not bad."

Lynn nodded in satisfaction.

He didn't consider himself a champion of justice, but for those involved in the Les trade, this kind of end—dying without ceremony, their remains left incomplete beneath the sea—felt fitting.

What, should he have let them ramble on before dying?

Or given them a glorious, dignified end?

Ridiculous.

Even Vacher—he had refrained from acting before due to his bad luck. Trying to interfere back then could have led to worse consequences, possibly even strengthening the situation instead of resolving it.

But now things were different.

Lynn had already arranged an ending for Vacher similar to the original—only much faster and far less drawn out.

Hopefully, he'd enjoy it.

"You got a Vision?!"

Aveline hurried over, eyes shining with excitement as she looked at him.

Given her experience and the common understanding among people of Teyvat, what else could his display have been?

Lynn smiled.

"Not a Vision… but it's somewhat related. Though the strain is a bit high."

As he spoke, he quietly extinguished the flames and returned the authority he had just wielded back to his world incarnation.

'Though… strain…'

He assessed his condition and found the word inaccurate.

'Maybe pressure is more precise.'

This ability was an unexpected benefit from reaching an understanding with Teyvat.

Thinking back on how he obtained it, Lynn clicked his tongue inwardly.

'Teyvat, my friend… you're generous.'

'Once I grow stronger, I'll definitely help you beat up Phanes. As for how… well, that depends on what form they take by then.'
