Volume 1: The Fox Among Lambs

What were you doing when you were 10 years old? Playing games? Showing trading cards to your friends? Or spending time with your family?

Me?

I was killing heroes.

There was no reason. I just… could. Yes, I am evil. Not because I have some tragic story… maybe because my only goal was to become the strongest.

But to be honest, killing felt strangely satisfying. Like eating something sweet…

Heroes and villains… a classic story. But in our world, things were never that simple.

---

500 years ago, humans began to awaken abilities. Within 400 years, the world completely changed. This became the age of heroes and villains.

At first, humanity couldn't accept this power. Like witch hunts in the Middle Ages… those with abilities were hunted down. But over time, technology evolved, society changed, and each generation became more accepting.

Great wars were fought. Agreements were made—

"Please… don't kill me… I have two daughters…"

His words were cut short.

Void tilted his head slightly. "Ah… alright."

CRACK!

The hero's body collapsed to the ground. His head was no longer attached.

"Humans…" Void muttered. "They keep hoping until the very end. And that… makes them weak."

---

Anyway… I should probably run. Because Light was coming.

"VOID!"

Ah, Light… welcome. I'd offer you something, but you don't seem in the mood.

An golden-haired woman appeared in the sky—and instantly accelerated straight toward Void.

This wasn't an attack.

It was a capture attempt.

"You won't escape this time, Void!"

"I hope you catch me this time, Light."

PAT!

The air exploded.

Light instantly appeared in front of Void and tried to grab him. Void barely dodged—the fingertips almost touched him.

Light didn't stop.

She accelerated again, changed angles mid-air, and reached out once more. Void's eyes widened slightly: She's serious this time.

Void jumped upward and raised his hand.

KRRRKK!

The pillars of a nearby building crushed and collapsed onto Light.

But she didn't stop.

She pushed through the rubble, tearing through debris, still aiming for Void.

Suddenly—

She stopped.

Her body froze.

Telekinesis.

Void smiled faintly. "Got you."

KRAAAAAAAAAACK!

The invisible chains shattered.

Light disappeared.

Void's eyes narrowed. Behind me.

He couldn't turn—

BOOM!!

Light's strike sent Void flying. He crashed through two buildings and stopped in the third.

But he didn't fall.

He floated in the air, wiped the blood from his mouth, and smiled.

"Now that's better."

And then… he vanished.

---

Light stopped moving. She wasn't breathing—just listening.

Air… vibrations… emptiness…

Left.

She turned—

Void was right there.

But Light was ready this time. She instantly closed the distance—not attacking, just trying to grab him.

She caught his arm.

For a moment…

Their eyes met. Red and gold.

Then Void smiled.

And disappeared.

---

Light's hand grabbed nothing but air.

Silence fell.

The wind moved through the ruins.

Light slowly lowered her hand.

"Again…" she said, taking a deep breath. "…you escaped."

This time, she didn't chase. She just stood there and thought.

Teleportation was an extremely rare ability. It could be countered. But Void wasn't stupid—he always found a way.

No matter how many people he killed, Light still believed he could be saved. But the truth remained: she had never caught him even once.

Every encounter ended the same way. She got close… almost caught him… and then he vanished.

This wasn't about power.

This was about the mind.

"He's not running…" she whispered.

Then she realized something.

Void's targets weren't random. He started with weak heroes, then stronger ones… and eventually the strongest.

This was progress.

"He has a purpose…"

Void was evolving. Testing himself. Maybe preparing for something.

"I can't catch him by fighting…" she said. "But I can understand him."

She made a decision.

She would return to the Academy—not as a hero…

But as a teacher.

Because if someone like him wanted to hide…

there was only one place he would go:

The Ability Academy.

"If you're there…" Light murmured. "I'll find you."

---

Meanwhile…

A pale-skinned boy with black hair and red eyes entered his home.

"You're back, Noah?" his mother called from the kitchen.

"I'm back, mom."

"Sit at the table."

Noah walked in. His family was there.

His father, Oliver, spoke: "Noah, you've been accepted. You'll be going to the Academy soon. Be careful with your power. Don't hurt anyone."

"Alright, dad."

His sister looked at him. "What are you looking at?"

"Nothing. I was just reaching for the salt."

"Enough fighting at the table," his mother said.

---

After dinner, Noah went to his room and lay on his bed.

"The Academy… new people, new rules, new powers…"

A short silence.

"And maybe… new prey."

A faint smile formed on his face.

"Light… I hope you don't forget me in the meantime."
