Chapter 3 - the emotion king

šŸ“– Chapter 3: Humans… and a New Danger

The jungle didn't feel the same anymore.

There was a strange pressure in the air… as if someone was watching me. I moved forward slowly, making every step count.

"I don't think… I'm alone here."

The moment I said it—the screen flickered to life.

**[Fear Sense Activated]**

A faint signal pulsed in my mind. Someone was indeed watching me. And it was… human.

"Who's there?!"

A loud voice rang out. I stopped instantly. Three people emerged from behind the trees. They were armed—swords, daggers… and one girl held a gun.

"Oh, I thought there was a monster here…" one guy said.

"But he just looks like… a normal kid?" the other man added, looking confused.

I remained silent. Seeing them brought a small sense of relief… but the system immediately flashed a warning.

**[Multiple Emotions Detected]**

**[Fear: Low]**

**[Curiosity: High]**

*"Interesting…"* I thought.

"Who are you?" the girl with the gun asked. Her eyes were sharp, analyzing me.

"I'm… Raigan," I replied.

"Raigan?" one of the guys chuckled. "What are you doing all alone in this jungle?"

I was about to answer when—the ground began to shake. Everyone's expression turned dead serious.

"That sound…" the girl whispered, "That's no ordinary monster."

The trees suddenly thrashed violently, and a massive beast burst through the foliage. This time… it was nothing like the others. It was double the size, with skin like armor and eyes as dark as the abyss.

"A M-Mid Rank Beast…" one guy stammered, backing away.

"We aren't ready for this!" the other panicked.

I looked at the monster, and a strange sensation washed over me. On one hand, I felt fear… but on the other, excitement.

**[High-Level Threat Detected]**

**[Fear Rising Rapidly]**

**[Attack Power Increased +30]**

I clenched my fists. "This thing… is strong."

"Everyone, get back!" the girl, Aisha, yelled. She raised her gun. "I'll distract it, you guys run!"

"But Aisha—!"

"GO!!"

The monster roared and lunged straight for her. She cast a spell—a small blast of light shot out—but it barely scratched the beast.

"It's not working…" she hissed through gritted teeth. The monster raised its massive limb, ready to crush her.

"Enough."

A single word cut through the chaos. Everyone froze. Aisha looked at me in total shock.

"You…?"

I walked forward slowly. "You guys should leave."

"Are you crazy?!" one of the guys screamed. "That thing will kill you!"

I stopped and gave a faint smile. "Maybe."

The monster locked eyes with me. There was rage in its gaze… but for a split second—there was fear too.

**[Enemy Fear Detected]**

**[Attack Power Increased +40]**

My heart thundered in my chest. *"Perfect…"*

The monster pounced—but this time, I was ready. I sidestepped its massive frame and delivered a devastating punch to its side—

**BOOM!**

The ground trembled. The monster was knocked back, but it scrambled to its feet instantly.

*"It's tough…"* I thought.

"Raigan!" Aisha shouted. "Get back! You can't handle this!"

I didn't answer. Her voice was echoing in my ears… filled with concern.

**[Emotion Detected: Concern]**

**[Love Energy Activated → Minor Healing]**

The aches in my body began to fade. I looked at the screen, surprised.

*"Love… heals?"*

The monster charged again, faster this time. I closed my eyes and leaned into the fear. My fear… the monster's fear… their fear. All of it.

**[Fear Overflow]**

**[Attack Power Boost +70]**

**[Rage Mode Available]**

I snapped my eyes open. A different kind of light was glowing in them now.

"Game over."

In a blur, I was in front of the beast. It tried to react—but it was too late.

**BOOOOOOM!!!**

One massive strike, and the monster slammed into the earth. This time, it didn't get back up. The jungle fell silent once more. Everyone stood frozen in shock.

Aisha walked toward me slowly. "Who… what are you?"

I looked into her eyes and spoke softly. "I don't even know that myself."

**[Hidden Observer Detected]**

My heart skipped a beat. *"Observer…?"*

I scanned the surroundings instantly, but there was no one. Only trees and darkness.

High above on a distant branch, a masked man stood watching. He let out a small, chilling smile.

"Finally… I've found a subject."
