Kagami Ren's flight speed was extremely fast. In just a short time, he had already crossed hundreds of miles and arrived at Mt. Yougou.
"So that's the Grand Narukami Shrine?"
From afar, Kagami Ren could already see the Sacred Sakura standing beside the shrine.
In reality, the Grand Narukami Shrine was far larger and more exquisite than in the game. There were many buildings within the shrine grounds, used as living quarters for the shrine maidens.
As he descended from the sky, his sudden appearance startled the shrine maidens, who looked at him warily.
"I am Kuki Sachi, a shrine maiden of the Grand Narukami Shrine. Who are you?" The young maiden at the front stepped forward and asked. After all, she didn't believe ordinary people could fly.
"My name is Kagami Ren. I was invited here by Guuji Yae Miko," he explained.
"Invited by Guuji-sama?" Kuki Sachi was momentarily stunned. She turned to another shrine maiden. "Nana, go inform Guuji-sama."
"Understood." Kano Nana nodded and headed into the shrine.
"This way, please." Kuki Sachi led Kagami Ren to a nearby resting area and poured him a cup of tea.
Kagami Ren casually observed the young shrine maiden in front of him. It had to be said—none of the shrine maidens chosen to serve the gods were unattractive.
Kuki Sachi was far from an ordinary face. In his previous world, she would easily qualify as a campus beauty. Though… her hair was black? Wasn't her younger sister, Kuki Shinobu, supposed to have green hair?
Perhaps sensing his gaze, the girl's cheeks flushed slightly, her eyes darting away shyly.
As expected of a nation modeled after Japan—it really had its own customs. Shrine maidens were said to serve the gods directly, maintaining absolute purity and never marrying, their bodies reserved only for the gods. What a pity that so many beauties resided here, yet the god they served happened to be female…
"Kagami Ren!"
Just as he was idly waiting, Yae Miko walked out. Seeing him, she quickly approached.
"Miko, you're here." Kagami Ren stood up and nodded.
"Guuji-sama!" Kuki Sachi quickly withdrew her gaze and greeted respectfully.
"Sachi, from now on, you don't need to stop Kagami Ren," Yae Miko said with a nod. "He is now the High Priest of the Grand Narukami Shrine. Aside from me, he is also your superior."
"Mm… huh?" Kuki Sachi nodded instinctively, then froze. High Priest?
As a shrine maiden, she naturally knew of this position—but it hadn't existed for over a hundred years. And now Guuji-sama had reinstated it?
"What's wrong? Can't accept it?" Yae Miko raised an eyebrow.
"N-No…" Kuki Sachi quickly shook her head, sneaking a glance at Kagami Ren.
"Good. Make sure to listen to him from now on~" Yae Miko teased, lightly lifting Kuki Sachi's chin.
"I… I understand, Guuji-sama," Kuki Sachi replied softly, lowering her head.
"Mm." Yae Miko hummed. "Go inform the others."
"Yes, Guuji-sama."
"Oh, right. To welcome our new High Priest, arrange a banquet tonight after the worshippers leave," Yae Miko added.
"Understood."
"Come, Kagami Ren. Let's talk inside," Yae Miko said.
Kagami Ren nodded and followed her into her room.
The first thing he noticed was the fragrance.
The entire room carried a faint, soothing scent—very similar to Yae Miko's own.
Her room was simple and clean, with neatly arranged items. Most of it consisted of books and documents, along with a modestly sized bed.
"My, Kagami Ren~ You're the first man to enter my private room," Yae Miko teased as she watched him look around.
"I once heard from a friend in Liyue that a girl's room is very private," she continued with a playful smile. "It's only opened to someone she likes. So… can you feel my affection?"
"Is that so? Unfortunately, I can't," Kagami Ren replied calmly. He knew her personality well—if he played along, she would immediately turn it around on him.
"What a cold and unromantic god~" Yae Miko pouted dramatically. "You've truly broken my heart."
"Alright, stop teasing," Kagami Ren said helplessly.
"Fine, fine. You're such a boring man," Yae Miko rolled her eyes. "From now on, you'll be staying at the shrine. The room next to mine is yours—I'll have someone prepare it."
"Your monthly allowance will be 200,000 Mora. If that's not enough, you can always send the bill to the Grand Narukami Shrine," she added. "Oh, and we have a cafeteria—meals are free."
"Oh?" Kagami Ren's eyes lit up. He had already noticed earlier that Mora in reality had much higher purchasing power than in the game—roughly ten times as much. That meant 200,000 Mora was equivalent to a very comfortable monthly income.
Not to mention, food and lodging were fully covered.
And most importantly—he could send the bill to the shrine.
Wasn't this paradise?
In Inazuma, what was the richest place? Without a doubt—the Grand Narukami Shrine.
And with Yae Miko's Yae Publishing House, whose influence spread across all of Teyvat… her wealth was practically immeasurable.
Kagami Ren almost laughed out loud. He had just arrived in Inazuma and already secured an official position—this was basically a government job, and not a low one either.
"Here, this is your divine token. It represents your identity," Yae Miko said, producing a sakura-pink token.
Kagami Ren took it. On the front was the triple tomoe emblem of the Electro Archon, symbolizing Narukami. On the back was the Sacred Sakura emblem of the shrine.
He casually hung it at his waist and glanced out the window. Right outside Yae Miko's room stood the Sacred Sakura.
He knew very well that within it lingered a faint trace of Raiden Makoto's consciousness.
As the Herrscher of Life and Death, he could clearly sense that fragile remnant—like a flickering candle in the wind, ready to vanish at any moment.
In that case… the method to "handle" both Yae Miko and Raiden Ei could begin here.
