In his room, Hirata sat on his chair, staring at the ceiling.
"Today's the last day of classes… and tomorrow is the test," he muttered.
"A test to decide if we're worthy of going outside…"
He let out a tired sigh.
"…whatever. I'll deal with it tomorrow."
He turned off the lights, pulled the blanket over himself, and fell asleep.
Next Morning
A loud ringing shattered the silence.
Hirata groaned and opened his eyes. His alarm clock kept buzzing beside him.
"You stupid machine… ruining my sleep…"
He grabbed it and checked the time.
"6:50?! I set it for 6:00!"
He jumped out of bed.
"Damn it, I'm late—where's my brush?!"
Ding Dong.
"Hirata! You awake?" a voice came from outside.
"Yeah! Give me a minute!" he shouted. "I'll be ready by 7:30!"
"Hurry up!"A few minutes later, Hirata rushed downstairs, still adjusting his shoes.
"Sorry, I'm late, Shikai."
Shikai looked at him, confused.
"Late? We're leaving at 8:30."
"…what?"
Hirata froze.
"Are you serious?"
Shikai burst out laughing.
"Yeah. Looks like someone messed with you."
Hirata clicked his tongue.
"…idiots."
As they walked outside, Shikai glanced at him.
"By the way… you ready for the test?"
Hirata smirked slightly.
"Of course."
