Chapter 144 - Chapter 143: Satoru Gojo Falls in Battle!

Just as the Colossal Cursed Spirit controlled by Tengen turned its gaze toward the crumbling flaming formation, preparing to incorporate the Gedo Statue—the final "variable"—into its "correct order"—

"Cough! That 'correct order' of yours sounds truly grating."

A voice, slightly hoarse but still carrying that signature, irreverent tone, rang out from the edge of the bottomless spherical abyss below.

Satoru Gojo, drenched in blood, clawed with one hand at a protruding, nearly melted rock wall, struggling to climb up.

His Jujutsu High uniform was already in tatters, and his exposed skin was covered in crisscrossing wounds deep enough to show bone; in some places, an ominous black aura, caused by the erosion of the Barrier's power, was still emanating.

His silver-white hair was matted with blood and dust, making him look utterly disheveled.

Yet, his pair of pale blue Six Eyes remained like the purest glaciers, burning with an unyielding flame as they locked onto Tengen in the sky.

"You didn't even say hello before nearly sending me off..." Satoru Gojo spat out a mouthful of blood, swaying as he straightened his body. Although he looked like he could collapse at any moment, his spine remained perfectly straight. "We're going to have to settle this score, you old hag Tengen."

Tengen looked down at him, her eyes calm and unruffled: "Gojo, your tenacity is admirable, but pointless struggle only adds unnecessary suffering. Your 'Infinity' is not absolute before me."

"Is that so?"

Satoru Gojo grinned, revealing teeth stained red with blood. "Then let's try again!"

He slammed his hands together, ignoring the wounds splitting open on his body and his nearly exhausted Cursed Energy, forcibly squeezing out the last remnants of power from the depths of his soul.

"Nine Ropes, Polarized Light, Crow and Declaration, Between Front and Back."

"Hollow Technique — 'Purple'."

This was no longer the casual ease of before, but a chant and construction infused with his entire will and life!

Massive Cursed Energy gathered, compressed, and reversed in his palms. The energy ball that twisted space and annihilated everything appeared once more, but its scale was greater than any previous time. The instability and aura of destruction contained within caused the space around the edge of the abyss to groan and collapse.

Blood began to seep from Satoru Gojo's seven orifices, yet the smile on his face grew increasingly bold.

"Take this, my final 'Purple'!"

He roared, hurling the energy ball—which had condensed everything he had and resembled a small black hole—at Tengen in the sky, fiercely and resolutely!

'Purple' passed, space was torn into a pitch-black trail. Even light could not escape its gravitational pull, as it bore down on Tengen with an unstoppable will of destruction.

For the first time, a trace of extremely subtle fluctuation appeared on Tengen's usually placid face.

She could feel that the death-defying will contained in this strike, along with the extreme application of the concept of "Infinity," had already surpassed any of Satoru Gojo's previous attacks.

She dared not be careless. The Colossal Cursed Spirit she controlled crossed its arms in front of its chest, and the Cursed seals on its body, connected to the nationwide Barrier, flared to their limit. Drawing upon the power of Japan's spiritual veins, it constructed an indestructible absolute defensive wall in front of it—the 'Divine Wall'—composed of layers and layers of countless diamond-shaped Barriers.

"Boom—"

'Purple' and the 'Divine Wall' collided violently!

There was no sound, or rather, the sound was swallowed the instant it was born by the extreme energy erupting from the center of the collision.

There was only a flash of extreme purple light that instantly devoured everyone's field of vision.

Immediately after, a world-destroying shockwave swept across the land that had just endured the "Divine Fall" for the second time.

The edge of the abyss collapsed and expanded once more.

Okkotsu, Yuji Itadori, and the others pressed themselves hard against the ground, using their last reserves of strength to resist the terrifying aftermath.

When the light finally dissipated...

Everyone struggled to look up.

They saw that in the sky, the Cursed Spirit controlled by Tengen was still hovering, but on the 'Divine Wall' in front of her—the one claimed to be an absolute defense—there was now a massive hole, its edges still crumbling away!

Around the hole were spiderweb-like cracks that extended all the way to the Cursed Spirit's arms and parts of its torso.

Clearly, this death-defying strike from Satoru Gojo had actually managed to shake the defense laid down by Tengen.

Tengen looked down at the hole in the defensive wall before her, then turned her gaze to the figure below—a man who had nearly become a bloodied mess yet still stood stubbornly—a flash of indescribable, complex emotion crossing her eyes.

She whispered softly, "Satoru Gojo, you truly are the strongest'Six Eyes' in a thousand years."

"However, this is where it ends for you."

Down below, having exhausted all his strength and unable to even maintain his footing, Satoru Gojo swayed. "What a pity, still came up a little short..."

"Bastard, I'll leave the rest to you."

He glanced in the direction of Jujutsu High, then, with a faint smile, fell straight backward.

"Teacher!"

Yuta Okkotsu and Yuji Itadori's eyes split with rage as they struggled, wanting to rush over.

...

Meanwhile, at Tokyo Jujutsu High School, in the underground medical room.

Shoko Ieiri had just finished emergency treatment on Toho Hiroshi and wiped the sweat from her forehead.

Although her Reverse Cursed Technique could not directly affect the injuries Toho Hiroshi had sustained from being eroded by Tengen's power, she could still stabilize his vital signs and treat his physical wounds.

Toho Hiroshi lay on the operating table, his Rinnegan tightly shut, his face pale.

At the last moment, he had utilized a kunai engraved with the 'Eight Thousand Spears' Cursed Technique mark that he had left with Shoko Ieiri beforehand to perform a space jump, narrowly escaping death.

However, the damage caused by Tengen's "Divine Fall" attack was far beyond imagination. His efficiency with Reverse Cursed Technique had not yet recovered, so he could only rely on Shoko Ieiri's treatment and his own slow recovery.

Suddenly, he snapped his eyes open, a flicker of agitation flashing through his Rinnegan.

"Gojo..."

He sensed that familiar, resolute burst of Cursed Energy, followed by the rapidly fading life force.

He forced himself to try and sit up, but was held down by Shoko Ieiri.

"Don't move! Your condition is terrible right now."

Shoko Ieiri's tone was stern, but her eyes were filled with worry.

Toho Hiroshi did not answer; he only clenched his fists tightly. His Rinnegan pierced through the obstruction of the earth, as if seeing that battlefield turned into an abyss, and that figure who had stood proudly only to collapse with a thunderous crash.

"Gojo... is dead..."

Shoko Ieiri's hand, which had been organizing the instruments, suddenly froze.

The metal tweezers dropped onto the tray, emitting a crisp yet jarring "clatter" that echoed in the suddenly deathly silent medical room.

With her back to Toho Hiroshi, her shoulders stiffened for a moment. A few seconds later, she slowly turned around. Her face was expressionless, but those eyes, always heavy with fatigue, were now staring blankly at a point in the void.

She silently bent down, picked up the tweezers, and wiped them slowly with an alcohol swab, her movements mechanical and precise.

Then, she raised her eyes to look at the pale-faced Toho Hiroshi on the operating table, her tone calm and without a ripple, as if she were simply stating that the weather was bad today.

"Oh."

She paused, her movements of wiping the tweezers never stopping, her voice as light as a sigh yet carrying an icy weight.

"Thanks to you."

This sentence was like a dagger quenched in ice, lightly and deftly stabbed into the air. There was no anger, no accusation, yet it was more suffocating than any hysterical weeping.

It contained too many unspoken words: If it hadn't been for your crazy plan, if it hadn't been for you dragging him into this final battlefield, if he hadn't trusted you.

In the medical room, only the faint sound of the alcohol swab rubbing against the metal remained, along with the air between the two, which was so heavy it felt almost stagnant.

Toho Hirosh

i's Rinnegan met Shoko Ieiri's gaze—which appeared calm and unruffled but was actually surging with undercurrents—and he did not look away.
