Chapter 43 - Chapter 43 - Software Completed

"Damn! Finally… It's done!"

In his room, Kamiyā Yuu excitedly shoved his drawing desk with force. The recoil sent both him and his chair tumbling onto the floor. He raised his hands, spreading his fingers to block the ceiling light, staring at them as they trembled slightly—whether from exhaustion or excitement, even he wasn't sure. The burning stiffness in his fingers stood as proof of his entire night's effort.

"MAYA 3D modeling software—completed. I've finally taken my first step in this world!"

Lying on his back and staring at the ceiling, Kamiyā Yuu clenched his fist tightly and punched the air. Over the past month, aside from work, he had poured all his spare time into programming. Tonight's breakthrough marked the culmination of all that effort—his first real step toward his dream in this world. With the MAYA 3D modeling software, he now possessed a tool that surpassed this world's 3D technology by an entire level. The difference in visual quality between his work and others' would be comparable to the gap between 'Grand Theft Auto: Vice City' and 'GTA5.'

"Right! Testing! I need to test if it runs perfectly!"

Not wanting to celebrate too early, Kamiyā Yuu slapped his cheeks, scrambled up from the floor, and calmed himself. He exited programming mode on his laptop and restarted the system. On the desktop, a new shortcut labeled "MAYA" in capital letters had appeared.

Taking a deep breath, he double-clicked it.

Instantly, the interface he had seen countless times in his consciousness space popped up before him.

"Click, click, click—!"

His heart raced as he rapidly moved the mouse, checking every function of the software—verifying whether anything was incomplete or if any unexpected issues arose. This program embodied decades of effort from a major software company in its previous world. Its functions and system stability were nearly flawless, with virtually no bugs or conflicts. Since this world's Windows 7 system was the same, it should integrate perfectly.

Reality proved him right.

After an hour of testing, aside from the laptop struggling under heavy load due to hardware limitations, the MAYA 3D modeling software had been perfectly replicated on this world's computer.

"Good! Damn it—this is great! A whole month of effort finally paid off!"

Eyes blazing with excitement, Kamiyā Yuu muttered to himself. He pulled his hands away from the keyboard, clenched one fist, and struck it hard into his other palm, producing a sharp smack. Completely absorbed, he didn't even notice the slight pain.

He picked up the drawing tablet he had bought days earlier. After enabling Bluetooth, he connected it to the computer. Soon, the MAYA interface appeared on the tablet screen. Entering the program, he picked up the stylus and began testing its operation.

Every step of using this software had already been practiced countless times in his consciousness space. Every stroke, every modeling vertex was crystal clear in his mind. All he needed to do now was recreate in reality what he had rehearsed over and over mentally.

—First, Ruby Rose's 3D character design!

—Then, the forest and the ruined rose garden scene, refining every detail until it matched the consciousness space!

—Post-processing for the 3D visuals: rendering, effects, style, and more!

His excitement completely drove away any trace of sleepiness. He spent the entire night immersed in experimental creation.

"Ruby Rose… I know her too well—her personality, appearance, weight, temperament… everything." As her creator within the consciousness space, Kamiyā Yuu was filled with confidence. The stylus in his hand flew rapidly across the tablet.

Creating a 3D character was fundamentally different from 2D illustration. What he was using now was a vertex-based modeling method—constructing forms through countless connected points and lines, sculpting the desired 3D figure step by step.

At 2 a.m., while referencing Uehara Etsuki's character design sheets, he couldn't help but marvel, "As expected of Uehara-sensei… even the full-angle reference sheets are this perfect."

"For Ruby Rose's expressions… her excited look when winning a game really leaves an impression."

He recalled her pure, delighted smile during victories in 'League of Legends,' and her undisguised disappointment when she lost. His stylus never stopped moving.

By 4 a.m., he still hadn't slept.

"Lastly, refining the details of the Gothic outfit. After several days of hellish practice in the consciousness space, my understanding of Gothic clothing is no less than Uehara-sensei's! Everything has led to this moment—starting with the layering of colors…"

"The choice of materials is also important—especially to convey the smooth, refined texture of the fabric. Uehara-sensei even added a rose lace detail to Ruby Rose's design, which looks much better than before and suits her temperament perfectly."

Completely focused, Kamiyā Yuu tapped countless vertices onto the tablet screen, connecting them like carving a statue—layer by layer refining and polishing—until Ruby Rose's voice, smile, and presence from his consciousness space were faithfully recreated.

Time slipped by unnoticed.

When he had finished the MAYA software, it wasn't even midnight yet. But in what felt like the blink of an eye, the sky outside began to brighten. Thin strands of morning light filtered through the curtains, illuminating the room—and finally pulling Kamiyā Yuu out of his creative trance.

"Ah… I have work today. It wouldn't be good if Uehara-sensei warns me again. Still… staying up all night isn't nearly as exhausting as overworking in the consciousness space."

"It's almost six. I should make breakfast first."

Only then did realization strike. Kamiyā Yuu slapped his forehead and reluctantly set down the drawing tablet. Walking to the window, he pulled open the curtains. The morning sunlight streamed in, making him squint slightly as his lips curled into a deeply satisfied and joyful smile.

On the tablet resting beside the laptop, Ruby Rose's 3D model might not yet be perfectly lifelike—but its finely detailed, Japanese anime-inspired design carried an unmistakable sense of something groundbreaking.

Within the framework of a non-realistic anime style, Ruby Rose's 3D character model had reached near perfection—surpassing even 'Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children' by several levels.
