"Stop looking at me like that," I said, my voice barely audible.
"Mm-hmmm." Her eyes lingered a bit longer, and then she looked away. "Surprised you can drive," she said, starting the car.
"I am a lot of things, but predictable isn't one of them," I said with a smirk, though I immediately looked embarrassed.
"Okay," she chuckled, driving off.
For a good five minutes, we stayed completely quiet. The only thing that could be heard was the low hum of the A.C.
"Your health—" She looked at me, finally breaking the torturing silence. "—finished your meds yet? How's your breathing?"
"Pretty good, actually. I haven't had any attacks since then..."
"That's—" We came to a stop at a red light. "—good to know."
"Yeah."
"And how has the past... is it three weeks been? With Ernest?"
"Been trying to hate you..."
She looked at me, her brow raising. "Any progress?"
"Fuck you!" I looked straight out the window.
