When they arrived at Tony's villa on the Malibu coast in California, Rimuru couldn't help but take a deep breath.
One villa in New York had just been blown up, and now here was an even better one—facing the ocean, surrounded by blooming flowers. What a mansion!
But when Rimuru thought about how this villa would probably be blown up too, she suddenly felt much better.
The thought even made her want to laugh.
Tony Stark's luck could practically rival the Suzuki Consortium from Detective Conan.
In Detective Conan: Dimensional Sniper, the 400-billion-yen Suzuki Tower collapsed. In Detective Conan: Sunflowers of Inferno, a top-tier exhibition hall was blown up after enormous effort. In Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare, an entire amusement park was destroyed.
Fans of Conan have long reached a conclusion: any skyscraper funded by the Suzuki Consortium and carefully introduced at the beginning of a story is guaranteed to be destroyed.
And what about Tony Stark?
In Iron Man, his New York mansion was bombed and his R&D center destroyed. In Iron Man 2, the Expo grounds were attacked. In The Avengers, Stark Tower was hit. In Iron Man 3, his Malibu mansion was destroyed. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, the rebuilt Avengers base was attacked again.
Was he somehow cursed with explosions?
Pepper Potts walked over gracefully in high heels.
"Big sis Pepper, you've gotten even prettier!"
"Oh, you're just flattering me. I've been staying up late lately—my skin's in terrible condition. I barely dare show my face."
Even as she said that, she couldn't hide her happy smile.
Rimuru wasn't falling for that. If she dared agree Pepper looked worse, she'd probably get blacklisted on the spot.
Ah… women.
The clever Rimuru had already seen through everything.
It had to be said—Pepper had high emotional intelligence and was great at conversation. She guided the discussion effortlessly, and chatting with her was genuinely pleasant.
"Rimuru? What a rare visitor!"
Seeing Rimuru's fluffy hair, Tony Stark walked out of the lab, his eyes lighting up.
He had just finished tuning the Mark IV, and Rimuru showed up right on cue. It was as if fate itself wanted him to reclaim his honor!
Tony was extremely confident in the Mark IV—speed, armor, weapons—everything had been massively upgraded compared to the Mark III.
"Rimuru, my fourth-generation suit is complete. What about your Fengshen? How about another match?"
"No comparison."
Rimuru rejected him instantly.
Tony blinked. That was… fast. Did he do something wrong?
"Afraid, are you?" Tony grinned.
Rimuru replied calmly, "Mark lost to Fengshen. Tony wrote a long surrender statement."
Tony: "…"
"Strength depends on the version," Tony argued. "My suit is already Mark IV. Yours is still Fengshen I, right?"
"Mark lost to Fengshen. Tony wrote a long surrender statement."
Tony's face darkened.
"Say that again and let's settle this properly!"
"Mark lost to Fengshen. Tony wrote a long surrender statement."
Tony was on the verge of collapse.
It was just one loss—did she really have to keep bringing it up?!
"Let's go again! One more time!"
"Are you begging me?"
"…Yes. Even if I have to beg."
"Mark lost to Fengshen. Tony wrote a long surrender statement. Even if you beg, it won't help."
Tony nearly exploded.
I, Tony Stark—genius, billionaire, superhero—have never wanted to punch someone this badly.
Pepper burst out laughing.
Watching the two bicker like children was too much.
"You two… you know, you look just like father and daughter when you argue!"
Both of them pointed at each other in unison.
"Me? Like him/her?! Are you kidding?!"
Rimuru: "Pepper, how could an oily old man like him have a daughter as cute and talented as me?"
Tony: "Pepper, you've always been my wise partner—but this time you're wrong. I, Tony Stark, the greatest genius in human history, would never have a child like her. What a temper!"
"Oh? 'Oily old man'? Are you talking about me?"
"'Greatest genius in history'? Pepper, come help—I can't hold down Albert Einstein's coffin anymore!"
Pepper laughed even harder.
Tony, the mighty Iron Man, reduced to arguing helplessly with Rimuru—no outsider would ever believe it.
"Tony, where did that glowing thing on your chest go? It looked awful. Why not get a doctor to install it again?"
Tony's expression twisted.
Install it again?!
Did she have any idea what she was talking about?
Palladium poisoning had nearly killed him—and she wanted it back?
"You little brat…"
He took a deep breath and calmed himself.
"Fine. What would it take for you to agree to another match?"
"Fengshen is a weapon of war. It kills enemies—it doesn't compete."
"I already have the materials for Fengshen II."
"…What?"
Rimuru's eyes instantly turned into dollar signs.
Tony sighed in frustration.
"I'm an idiot… I should've realized sooner."
It wasn't that Rimuru didn't want to compete—she just couldn't afford the materials.
"I said, Fengshen is a weapon—"
"I've also prepared materials for Fengshen III."
Gulp.
Rimuru swallowed hard.
In that moment, Tony Stark suddenly looked incredibly tall… and positively radiant.
Money really does shine.
