It was a combination that made her, at sixteen, considerably more formidable than most adults Seren had encountered professionally.
She stood in the hospital corridor with her arms crossed and looked at Caelan with the focused attention of someone who had been thinking about this conversation since the moment Seren had texted her about the statement two weeks ago.
Caelan waited.
He didn't fill the silence. Didn't preempt her. Just waited with the same composure he brought to board rooms and difficult clients and apparently, now, to sixteen year olds in hospital corridors at ten at night.
"First question," Mira said. "Did you know who Seren was when you hired him."
"Yes," Caelan said.
No hesitation. No qualification.
Mira's eyes narrowed slightly. She'd expected an explanation. He hadn't given one.
