Chapter 46 - The Names

They sat at Helena's dining table for another hour after dinner.

Helena had produced a dessert that nobody had room for and everyone ate anyway, and the conversation had moved from the board presentation to Riven's plans for the infrastructure partnership to a digression about a building Caelan had acquired three years ago that Juno, who was not there, but whose absence Seren was representing, would apparently find architecturally offensive.

"He'd have something to say about the south facade," Seren said.

"Everyone has something to say about the south facade," Helena said.

"What's wrong with the south facade," Caelan said.

They looked at him.

"It's very glass," Seren said.

"It's intentionally glass."

"Juno would call it surveilling."

Helena made the sound from the kitchen. The not-quite-sigh, not-quite-laugh.

"Bring him next week," she said. "I want to see this."

They left at eight-thirty.
