Chapter 8 - FALL FROM THE SKY

Satoru—along with Growlithe, Hattrem, and

he egg—

appeared high above the skies of the Sinnoh

region.

For a split second—everything was still.

Then—They started falling.

"Woof—?!" (Wait… we're flying?)

Growlithe's eyes widened—

as gravity took over.

The wind howled past them.

The ground rushed closer.

Hattrem clutched the egg tightly—

pressing it against the unconscious Satoru.

Below— a river.

No time to think.

No time to slow down.

Hattrem's eyes glowed.

With everything she had left—

she pushed.

Their falling bodies shifted—

just enough.

Splash—!

All four crashed into the river.

The impact was brutal.

Water exploded upward—

before swallowing them whole.

Growlithe kept his jaws locked on the egg—

kicking desperately against the current.

Hattrem struggled—

using her weakening psychic power

to keep Satoru from sinking.

Slowly—

they drifted toward the riverbank. On the Other Side

A blonde-haired girl sat quietly by the water.

Beside her—

an egg rested gently.

She hummed softly—

talking to it as if it could understand.

Then—

she saw it.

A streak across the sky.

"A shooting star…"

She smiled, closing her eyes.

"I wish—"

She stopped.

Her eyes snapped open.

That wasn't a star. "…Something's falling."

She ran with the egg.

By the time she reached the shore—

Growlithe had dragged Satoru halfway out of the water.

His legs trembled.

His strength was fading but he just wouldn't give up.

Hattrem hovered weakly beside them.

The girl didn't hesitate.

"Hey! Stay with me!"

She rushed forward—

grabbing Satoru under the arms.

Growlithe let out a low whine—

but didn't let go of the egg.

"Wof…"

Together—

they pulled him onto the shore.

Satoru didn't move.

"Not good…"

The girl steadied herself—

then lifted him with effort.

Hattrem used what little psychic strength remained—

lightening the weight.

"Just a little more…"

Five Minutes Later

They reached a large estate—

hidden beyond the trees.

The girl ran through the gates.

"Grandma!"

Her voice echoed.

The doors burst open.

An older woman rushed out—

then froze.

A drenched child.

Injured Pokémon.

A pale, unconscious boy.

For a moment—

her legs almost gave out.

But she steadied herself instantly.

"Inside. Now."

She moved quickly—

decisive, experienced.

"Call the doctor!"

They laid Satoru down.

She pressed firmly against his chest—

then his stomach—

"Come on… breathe…"

A second passed.

Then—

Satoru coughed violently—

water spilling from his mouth.

Air rushed back into his lungs.

He was alive

A doctor arived soon .

"…They look like whip injuries

And that injury was likely caused by fall from a huge height ."

A silence filled the room.

"…Or possibly a failed abduction."

He glanced at Satoru again—

more seriously this time.

"And there's something else."

A pause.

"He's showing early signs of… psychic awakening."

Cynthia's grandmother narrowed her eyes slightly.

"…I see."

She had personally seen a few cases in her life as Caitlin came to mind.

She nodded slowly.

Pokémon Treatment

Nurse Joy arrived soon after.

The moment she saw Growlithe and Hattrem—

she froze.

They refused to move.

Even injured—

even barely conscious—

they stayed close to Satoru and the egg.

"…Oh my…"

Her voice softened.

Growlithe growled weakly—

trying to stay alert.

Hattrem hovered beside him—

her psychic energy flickering unstably.

Then—

They both collapsed.

The strain had been too much.

Teleporting across regions—

even if powered by Satoru—

had taken a heavy toll.

"They need immediate treatment."

They were carefully taken away.

Before leaving—

Growlithe's grip on the egg loosened—

and nurse joy caught the egg and placed it near Cynthia's own.

Officer Jenny was called.

But after examining the situation—

she shook her head.

"No witnesses."

"No records."

"No explanation."

She looked at the unconscious boy.

"…Unless the Pokémon can tell us what happened…"

"There's nothing we can confirm."

Three Days Later

The room was quiet.

Soft sunlight filtered in.

Cynthia sat beside the bed.

She had taken it upon herself to stay.

Watching.

Waiting.

Studying.

"…He really is strange…"

White hair.

Blue eyes.

"…He doesn't feel like a them " Thinking about the other boys she met at the park.

She popped another grape into her mouth—

absently.

Then—

She noticed it.

"…Huh?"

His finger moved.

Just slightly.

Cynthia leaned closer.

"…Did it just—?"

Awakening

Satoru's eyes snapped open.

"…My head…"

Pain.

Sharp.

Heavy.

"…Am I… in heaven…?"

His vision blurred—

then cleared.

A blonde girl.

Sitting beside him.

Eating grapes.

From a pan.

Staring at him.

Intensely.

"…That's a strange choice of cutlery…"

he thought.

Then—

realization hit.

He suddenly tried to sit up.

"Where am I—"

Pain shot through his body.

He collapsed back down instantly.

Cynthia panicked.

"Wait—don't move!"

She jumped back—

too fast—

And the pan slipped from her hands.

BONK.

Direct hit.

Satoru's eyes rolled back.

He went unconscious again.

Silence.

Cynthia froze.

"…I… didn't mean to do that."
