Chapter 19 - The Silver Dragon King as My Bodyguard?

Chapter 19: The Silver Dragon King as My Bodyguard?

She glanced at the distant Bear Lord, her tone carrying a hint of accusation.

"Collecting a bit of interest, and while I'm at it, getting my disciple some decent lackeys to bolster his presence," Lin Yu pointed to Huo Yuhao behind him, then looked at the Bear Lord standing respectfully by his side, speaking with righteous confidence. "As for the commotion... didn't it work out perfectly by drawing you out? Saved me the trouble of looking for you everywhere."

The brow of Gu Yuena's clone furrowed slightly. This reason was barely plausible, but it also exuded an unsettling sense of casualness and self-assurance. She stared at Lin Yu, her gaze like electricity.

"Your current state is like a massive signal source. Although the God Realm might not have discovered your escape yet, you are using your power so unrestrainedly—even utilizing your original bloodline suppression—that exposure is only a matter of time!" Her tone carried a warning.

"And so?" Lin Yu raised an eyebrow, looking at her with a half-smile. "Does the great Silver Dragon King have a better idea? Or perhaps you wish to clean house for the God Realm and take me down right now?"

The atmosphere instantly tightened. Bear Lord felt the pressure of the invisible confrontation and let out a low, wary growl from his throat. Huo Yuhao held his breath, feeling as if his heart would leap out of his chest.

Gu Yuena's clone fell silent for a moment, the light of calculation swirling in her purple eyes. Take down the Golden Dragon King? Setting aside whether this clone could even do it, even if she could, the resulting energy impact would immediately attract the gaze of the God Realm. More importantly, the deep longing for the complete power of the Dragon God within her made it impossible to decide to utterly destroy him.

"I have no interest in doing the God Realm's work," Gu Yuena finally spoke, her voice returning to its cold state. "But I cannot sit by and watch you act like a brute, dragging us both into a bottomless abyss."

Her gaze locked onto Lin Yu. "Your power source is too unique; the leaking aura is like a bright lantern in the night to the God Realm. Until you recover enough to completely hide yourself, or... have enough strength to protect yourself, you need cover."

Lin Yu understood perfectly, but he feigned confusion. "Oh? What kind of cover?"

"Me." The clone's tone was flat but brooked no argument. "My power is more inclined toward elements and space; it is relatively restrained and possesses stronger interference capabilities. By staying by your side, I can maximally confuse and suppress the Golden Dragon King aura you unintentionally leak, delaying or even shielding you from the God Realm's perception."

She paused, her purple eyes looking directly into Lin Yu's, as if trying to see through his disguise. "I am doing this to protect you from being discovered too early by the God Realm!"

She didn't say it explicitly, but the meaning was clear—surveillance. She wanted to watch him, control his movements, and prevent him from doing anything crazy that might implicate her. It was also the best opportunity to observe this other half up close.

Lin Yu chuckled inwardly: As expected. This Silver Dragon King, Gu Yuena, had a cold face but a meticulous mind, finding such a high-sounding excuse. However... this suited his plans perfectly!

"Ha!" Lin Yu suddenly laughed, breaking the tension. His smile seemed sincere, yet carried a hint of playfulness. "Protect me? I like that reason! The dignified Silver Dragon King acting as my bodyguard—that's a level of prestige those fools in the God Realm couldn't imagine even if they tried!"

He sized up the clone's peerless beauty and cold temperament, then glanced at the massive, coarse-furred, fierce-looking Bear Lord beside them. Comparing the two in his mind, he couldn't help but sigh: the quality of this new "bodyguard" was simply worlds apart!

"Deal!" Lin Yu waved his hand briskly, as if accepting a mundane proposal. "To have the Silver Dragon King herself as a guard is something I couldn't ask more for! Don't worry, I'm a very law-abiding person. I'll just take my disciple to collect some followers and nurse my wounds. I definitely won't cause you any trouble."

Gu Yuena's clone looked at his lazy demeanor, a flash of helplessness and deeper uncertainty flickering in her eyes. This Golden Dragon King seemed subtly different from the violent, destruction-obsessed incarnation in her memories. But regardless, this was currently the choice that best served both their interests.

"Remember your words, Lin Yu." Her voice remained cold. With a flash of silver light, she landed gracefully on the Bear Lord's broad back, standing not far from Lin Yu, maintaining a distance that was neither intimate nor distant.

The wind and snow blew through her silver hair, adding a touch of ethereal mystery. Her gaze swept over the terrified Huo Yuhao and the Titan Snow Devil King embedded in the ice cliff, finally landing back on Lin Yu. "Now, it's time to handle the trouble you've caused."

Lin Yu grinned, revealing white teeth. He looked toward the ice crater, golden light flashing in his eyes. "Of course. Bear Lord, go 'invite' that big guy over. Let's have a proper talk about this 'follower' situation."

Bear Lord let out a low roar, his Dark Golden Terrorclaws crushing the ice. With a mix of reverence and a hint of wariness toward the Silver Dragon King's clone, he strode toward the Titan Snow Devil King, who was still trying to pull himself out of the cliff.

The Bear Lord stomped over to the struggling "Ah Tai." His massive claws slammed onto the ice near the giant beast, looking down at the dazed Far North behemoth. Lin Yu, standing on the Bear Lord's back, was about to start his classic "being a lackey has a future, follow me and you'll become a god" speech.

However, Bear Lord suddenly turned his massive head. His dark-golden eyes shone with a nearly fawning light, and he preemptively rumbled:

"Master! Why waste your breath on such a small matter? Leave it to old Bear! I'll make sure this big dummy understands the situation and becomes a proper, errand-running lackey for you!"

Lin Yu was slightly taken aback. A very faint trace of confusion crossed his golden eyes. Wait? When did this blockhead become so enlightened? He actually knows how to volunteer for diplomatic persuasion? This doesn't fit his character...

Given the Bear Lord's brain, shouldn't he be gloating and itching to add a few more claw marks to show off?

He discreetly glanced at the silver-haired, purple-eyed figure nearby. Gu Yuena's clone stood silently, her beautiful face expressionless, as if everything before her was irrelevant. But Lin Yu understood instantly. His powerful divine sense caught an extremely subtle mental ripple—almost blending with the wind and snow—quietly connecting to the Bear Lord's conscious core.

Heh... so that's it. The Silver Dragon King's handiwork.

Lin Yu laughed to himself. It seemed she wanted to use the Bear Lord's mouth to proactively help him subdue the Far North beasts, doing him a favor. A clever calculation indeed.

On the surface, Lin Yu remained unmoved, even putting on a look of pleasant surprise. He nodded to the Bear Lord and said teasingly:

"Oh? It's rare to see you, Bear Lord, using your brain for once. Fine, I'll give you a chance to prove yourself. Go on, give our... brother Ah Tai here some good advice. Tell him that following this Seat means a limitless future."
