Chapter 54 - Obito — Kakashi, I’ll Remember This Grudge

Damu Tengyuan: "..."

He had nothing to say.

With a helpless wave of his hand, he sighed, "Fine! Since Lady Tsunade and the White Fang have both agreed, I have nothing more to say. Go back to class for now. I'll report this to Lord Hiruzen Sarutobi and submit the request. Everything depends on his decision."

"At the very least… today, you will attend class with your real body. Consider it your final time at the Academy."

As he spoke, he fixed Akira with a meaningful stare.

This was the one thing he insisted on.

For this overly outstanding student, he felt equal parts frustration, fondness, and helplessness.

"No problem! I was planning to do that anyway, sensei!"

Akira grinned, waved, and left the office, heading straight to his classroom.

The moment he pushed the door open—

The entire class fell silent.

Every student, including the teacher at the podium, stared at him.

Akira simply shrugged calmly. "Yo. Good morning."

With that, he dispelled his shadow clone and walked toward his seat.

"Good morning my ass!"

Obito Uchiha couldn't help but complain. "So you've been using shadow clones to attend school this whole time? That's too much!"

He immediately turned to the teacher. "Sensei, aren't you going to do anything about this?"

"Heh."

From behind him, Kakashi Hatake let out a cold laugh. "You only figured that out now? Idiot. The teachers already knew. The Academy approved it too."

"Huh?!"

Obito froze.

That was allowed?

"Idiot…"

Kakashi was speechless at Obito's slow reaction.

Obito had always been a bit dense, but not this dense.

Maybe training with Guy too much filled his brain with muscles, Kakashi thought to himself.

Over the past few months, Obito had changed a lot.

His body had grown more muscular, and even his grades had improved—from dead last to somewhere in the lower-middle range.

That wasn't easy.

Unfortunately, it seemed like he had traded intelligence for it.

Thinking that, Kakashi almost felt a bit sorry for him.

"Hm?"

Obito suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. He glanced at Akira, only to see him whispering to Kurenai Yuhi.

Then he turned back toward Kakashi, his eyes clearly saying: Was that you cursing me just now?

"Get lost."

Kakashi muttered coldly.

Obito: "...So it was you, Kakashi. I'll remember this."

At this moment, the teacher on the podium sighed helplessly. "Obito, Kakashi is right. Akira attending class with a shadow clone has been approved by both the Academy and the Hokage. You may sit down now."

Then he looked at Akira, who was still chatting quietly with Kurenai. "Also, Akira, since you're here, stop whispering and pay attention."

He still couldn't understand why Akira showed up in person today.

Too bored?

"Understood, sensei!"

Akira smiled and nodded.

Beside him, Kurenai's cheeks flushed red under the gaze of the entire class.

"Damn it! Why am I not sitting next to Akira?"

"Kurenai is hogging him all to herself!"

"Ahh! Akira is so handsome!"

"..."

A group of girls shot jealous looks at Kurenai before their attention shifted entirely to Akira.

The small commotion quickly passed, and class resumed.

Meanwhile, Obito's mind was racing.

You can use shadow clones to attend school?

So that's how it works…

I need to learn that jutsu too! Then I won't have to waste time at school—I can spend all of it on training!

If I do that, I'll definitely catch up to Kakashi… maybe even surpass Akira!

Obito felt like he had discovered the ultimate shortcut.

"What?! You and Kakashi are graduating early?!"

At noon, their homeroom teacher returned to the classroom and announced that Akira and Kakashi's early graduation applications had been approved.

In three days, they would take the graduation exam.

Pass—and they would officially graduate.

Obito was completely stunned.

"Akira…"

Kurenai and the others all turned to look at him.

Especially Kurenai—her eyes were filled with reluctance.

"Relax."

Akira smiled and gently patted her head. "We're just graduating early. It's not like we won't see each other anymore. As long as we have time, we can still train together on weekends. Nothing really changes."

That only made Kurenai's gaze more resentful. "Now that you mention it… since this semester started, I haven't even spent time with your real body at school."

"Ahem… hahaha…"

Akira scratched his head awkwardly. "We're still young. There's plenty of time in the future. Right now, getting stronger is what matters. Don't slack off, okay?"

"Mm!"

Kurenai nodded firmly. "I won't let you leave me behind."

She had decided that long ago.

That day, Akira actually attended class properly—with his real body—for once.

He spent the entire day accompanying Kurenai.

A small way to make up for things.

On the way home—

Kakashi walked beside him and said, "Didn't expect you to choose early graduation too. I thought you'd stay in the Academy longer."

He knew Akira wasn't someone who liked attention.

Graduating early was already a high-profile move.

Akira shrugged. "The situation forced my hand."

"War is coming. Sooner or later, students like us will be pushed onto the battlefield."

"Instead of being thrown in unprepared, I'd rather graduate now—gain strength and combat experience while things are still relatively controlled."

"That way, when full-scale war begins… I'll at least have the ability to protect myself."

"And maybe… protect the people around me."

As for his real motive—

Getting better exchange rewards—

That was something he would never tell anyone.
