Chapter 49 - The Impoverished Akira, the Wealthy Sakumo

"I'm done for… completely broke!"

Akira stared at the dozen or so spatial items of various sizes in front of him, then glanced at his already thin wallet—now completely empty. His expression turned bitter.

The cost of other materials had been manageable, but chakra-conductive metal was outrageously expensive.

Just 200 grams had cost him over 500,000 ryō.

It hurt so much his heart bled.

"This is ridiculous…"

"Looks like I need to find a way to make money. Best option would be to cash in some of these spatial tools."

"But there's no way I can openly sell them in Konoha. I need another approach…"

Akira rubbed his chin, thinking.

"Wait… I've got it!"

He suddenly slapped his thigh, ignoring the sting. "I can sell a couple to Sensei first! He's been a ninja for years—he should be rich, right?"

"Something like this… selling it for ten million or so shouldn't be a problem, right?"

The more he thought about it, the more feasible it seemed.

He decided to sell two chakra-metal spatial bracelets to Sakumo.

Each one contained about ten cubic meters of space.

That was only because he lacked enough chakra metal. Otherwise, he could have made them much larger.

As for giving them away for free to Sakumo and Kakashi?

Not a chance.

He was already so broke he could practically eat dirt—well, at least the Gourmet Tablecloth solved the food problem for now—but everything else still required money.

In short, he was confident that something this valuable would definitely be worth the price.

Each bracelet could last ten years.

Absolutely worth it.

Without hesitation, Akira left his house and headed to the Hatake residence.

The moment he entered the courtyard, he saw Sakumo sitting there, instructing Kakashi in swordsmanship.

"You're here?" Sakumo Hatake said with some surprise. "Didn't you say you were busy these past few days? What brings you here today?"

"Hehe!"

Akira scratched the back of his head and walked over. "I've mostly finished what I was working on! I made a couple of interesting items and wanted you to take a look, Sensei!"

As he spoke, he took out the two spatial bracelets and handed them over, briefly explaining their functions and how to use them.

"What?"

Sakumo and Kakashi Hatake, who had come closer at some point, both exclaimed in shock.

"You're saying this is a spatial item that can store objects?"

Kakashi added in surprise, "Isn't that just like a sealing scroll?"

"No, no."

Before Akira could answer, Sakumo shook his head. "This is far superior to sealing scrolls. Those are mostly single-use, at best reusable a few times, and their capacity is limited."

"If what you're saying is true, this has ten cubic meters of space and is semi-permanent. The difference in value is enormous."

"You've been working on this these past few days?"

He didn't ask how Akira had learned to create such items.

That clearly touched on Akira's secrets.

He had already sensed long ago that Akira had his own hidden cards, but as a teacher, he had no intention of probing into them.

"Yes."

Akira nodded. "To make these, I used up all my savings. Just buying chakra metal alone cost a fortune. I'm completely broke now. I can't even afford materials for further training."

"I was hoping you could help estimate their value so I can find a way to sell them and ease my financial situation. Hehe!"

He naturally wouldn't directly say he wanted to sell them to Sakumo—that would be awkward.

Better to just complain about being poor.

Surely Sakumo wouldn't just take them for free.

"You want to sell them?"

Sakumo paused slightly, then quickly understood. Since Akira could produce them himself, selling them made perfect sense.

At the same time, he immediately saw through Akira's true intention and couldn't help but smile wryly.

"You brat. If you want to sell them to me, just say so! For something this good, your teacher can definitely afford it."

"Hehe!"

Akira grinned. "I knew I couldn't fool you, Sensei! But I really am broke. Just tell me what you think they're worth."

After letting Sakumo test them and confirm their functions, Sakumo pondered for a moment.

"In terms of value, this is definitely strategic-level equipment. You could sell it for an extremely high price."

"But your teacher here doesn't have that much money. I can offer 15 million ryō for each. Any more than that, and I can't afford it."

His total savings over the years were only around 30 to 40 million ryō.

He still needed to keep some for daily expenses.

Especially now that both he and Kakashi were training in the Lightning Body Tempering Technique, which required large amounts of nutritious food and medicinal resources.

"Oh?"

Akira was genuinely surprised by how wealthy his teacher was. The price was far higher than he had expected.

He suppressed the excitement in his heart, cleared his throat, and said, "Then let's go with Sensei's price."

Lower the price?

Impossible.

He desperately needed money right now.

Training required medicinal supplies, research needed funding, and he had long wanted to forge a chakra-metal blade for himself.

This might finally make that possible.

"Alright! I'll go get the money."

Sakumo stood up with a smile and went inside. Shortly after, he returned with a sealing scroll and handed it to Akira.

"There's 30 million ryō inside. You can check it if you want. But be careful—the sealing scroll can only be opened and closed two more times."

Even this was a high-grade sealing scroll, yet it could only be used five times in total. He had already used it twice.

"Hehe, no need to check! You wouldn't cheat me, Sensei!"

Akira happily accepted the scroll and handed over the two spatial bracelets.

"Here you go. These can be bound with a drop of blood and locked with your chakra. Once that's done, only you can open them—no one else."

This was a special anti-theft feature he had designed.

He had learned it from the inheritance of Nicolas Flamel.
