Author's POV
"What are we supposed to do with him?" his uncle muttered, glancing at Keifer, who sat on the floor, busy playing with his toy car
His aunt let out an annoyed sigh. "I'm so tired of this. I can't keep babysitting him forever… Sometimes I wish he had just died along with his parents."
"Enough," his uncle said calmly, though a smile crept onto his lips. "The paperwork is almost done. Once everything is transferred to us, we won't have to deal with him anymore."
His aunty crossed her arms. "And what about London? We're leaving in three days. We can't just abandon him here… and there's no way I'm taking him with us."
At that moment, Keifer looked up at her and smiled innocently.
She forced a smile back, hiding her irritation.
His uncle leaned closer, lowering his voice. "Then we won't keep him."
She frowned. "What do you mean?"
"We'll get him married."
Her eyes widened. "Married? Who would agree to marry… someone like him?"
He chuckled softly. "Someone who needs money. We'll offer a huge amount. Just call your friends… find a suitable girl."
After a moment, she slowly nodded.
Jay's POV
I finally reached home, completely exhausted.
"What a tiring day…" I whispered to myself as I headed straight to my room.
After taking a shower, I went downstairs.
Mom was on a call, smiling so brightly… it almost felt fake.
Another boyfriend, maybe… I just want to live with Dad. I haven't seen him in so long… I don't want to stay here anymore.
"Jay, come here," she called.
I walked over and sat beside her.
"Do you remember my friend, Ms. Lina Watson?" she asked
I nodded.
"Well," she continued, her smile widening, "her husband's brother passed away in a car accident. He has a son… but the boy isn't mentally stable."
I felt uneasy but stayed silent.
"She wants you to marry him," she said.
My heart stopped.
"He behaves like a child… and you love children, don't you?" she added as if it was nothing.
I stared at her, unable to believe what I just heard.
"She's ready to give us as much money as we want. I've already agreed. The wedding is tomorrow."
"What…?" my voice came out as a whisper.
"Marry him?" I stood up abruptly. "You want me to marry someone who isn't even mentally stable? Are you serious right now?"
She looked at me calmly and nodded. "Yes."
I felt anger rising inside me. "Are you selling your own daughter for money?"
Her expression turned cold. "Watch your tone, Jay. You don't have a choice."
I clenched my fists. "And what if I refuse?"
She leaned closer, her voice dropping dangerously low. "Then your lola… might not survive."
I froze.
"What do you mean?" I asked, my voice trembling.
"Don't forget what the doctor said," she replied smoothly. "If she stops taking her medicine she won't live long."
My eyes widened in shock.
"How can you even say that? She's your own mother!"
But she didn't care.
Tears filled my eyes, but I held them back.
I slowly nodded.
"I'll do it…" I whispered.
Not for her.
But for my lola.
I walked back to my room and collapsed onto my bed.
"I don't want this life… I don't want to marry someone like that…" my voice broke.
"I just wanted to be independent…"
Author's POV
"Keifer, sweetheart," his aunt said in a fake gentle tone, "we have good news for you."
He looked up, blinking innocently. "What is it?"
"You're getting married tomorrow," his uncle added.
Keifer tilted his head in confusion. "Married…?"
His uncle smiled. "You know how your aunty is my wife? You'll have someone like that too… someone who will stay with you and play with you."
Keifer's face lit up.
"Really? She'll play with me?" he asked excitedly.
"Yes," they both replied.
"Okay!" he said happily. "I'll marry her!"
He went back to playing, completely unaware of everything.
His uncle watched him, then turned to his wife. "What if the girl finds out the truth?"
She smirked. "Relax. We'll give her money later and tell her to divorce him. She'll agree."
Both of them smiled, and sit there keifer completely unware what will goning to happen
