Chapter 200: The Warlord's Solitude
The heavy steel doors of the underground evolution vaults locked into place.
BOOM.
The massive sound echoed off the reinforced concrete walls. The heavy locking mechanisms engaged with a series of deep, metallic thuds.
Then, the bunker fell completely silent.
Draven stood alone in the center of the vast training facility. He stared at the thick steel doors. He knew his squad was safe behind them. They were finally secure.
For the first time in fourteen days, he did not have to project a wall of unbreakable strength.
His rigid posture sagged. It was a microscopic shift. His shoulders dropped just a fraction of an inch. He exhaled a long, slow breath.
Lord Commander Helion Goldmane noticed it immediately.
"There is a private officer's washroom down the hall to your left," Helion said softly. The Lord Commander kept his golden eyes calm and perfectly measured.
"Go wash the monster ash off your skin. Take a moment to breathe."
