Adam woke up before his alarm; he stretched his body and suppressed a large yawn while rubbing sleep from his eyes. He looked at the clock that was on the nightstand.
5:59 AM
Seeing the time, Adam stopped the alarm clock from blaring. And after that, the first thing that came to his mind was that he now had some starting money. The second thing was that he now had a job as a personal assistant to one of the most famous secretaries in the business world.
Adam got out of his bed and made his way to the bathroom. Inside, he splashed cold water on his face and looked at himself in the bathroom mirror. His mind replayed the split-second sensation he felt outside his apartment building last night, and thought about what had happened. He had felt someone keeping an eye on him. The gaze hadn't been from someone malicious or looking to rob him; it was cold, clinical, and disciplined. 'Government or some type of organization, but why? Is it because I just got a job in Stark Industries?' Thinking this, Adam continued his morning rituals.
Finished with his bathroom rituals, Adam got out and went to the kitchen to prepare his breakfast.
Adam made himself a breakfast containing a cheese sandwich, bacon, and an omelet, completed with orange juice. By the time Adam was done with his breakfast, it was around 7 o'clock, and seeing that he still had some time to kill before his first day on the job, Adam went into the living room and picked up a book to read.
Having sat down on the sofa, Adam opened the book that was about supply chain management. These books were what the previous Adam was interested in, but after the accident, he lost all interest in them, and the books sat on the shelf collecting dust.
He read the book while also thinking about the implications of someone keeping an eye on him. It would mean he was not as invisible as he had thought himself to be. 'It hasn't been that long since I arrived in this world, and already I have attracted attention to myself. I had forgotten that there are many organizations here that like to do shady experiments on people who have powers. I just hope it's only a passing glance for them and not full-blown surveillance.' Adam thought as he flipped a page in the book absentmindedly.
'It should be someone from SHIELD, seeing as a normal seventeen-year-old teenager got a job in Stark Industries as a PA to Pepper Potts.' A frown appeared on Adam's face as he also thought about how to handle the people who were keeping an eye on him. 'I should just keep playing the role of a slightly unusual teenager; I have done nothing to alert them of my uniqueness.'
Thinking all this, he continued his reading session, and time slowly passed. Adam looked at the time. Seeing that it was only 8:00 AM, he closed the book, put it in place, and again went inside the bathroom to take a shower.
Adam took a refreshing shower. He got out and changed into his work clothes, consisting of a formal light sky blue shirt, blue tie, gray pants, and gray vest with black formal shoes.
After getting ready, he looked at himself in the mirror. "I look sharp," Adam said with a small smirk playing on his face, adjusting his tie. "But I should do some shopping for proper clothing, seeing as I currently have the money for it." With that out of the way, Adam got the keys, locked the door properly, and left for his first day at a new job.
Stepping out of the building, Adam walked a little, taking in the morning air.
He called a cab, gave the cabbie the address of Stark Industries, and sat in the back. Adam watched as the residential buildings passed him, only to be replaced by skyscrapers.
Just as Adam was lost in his thoughts, the cab came to a stop. Looking outside, he could see the Stark Industries building, and looking at the time, it was only 8:50 AM. Adam got out of the cab, paid the fare plus added a tip for the early arrival.
"Thanks, boss," the cabbie said and left for his next fare.
Adam walked inside the building, again taking in the sights of the glass and metal that filled the place. He observed the people who were busy doing their own jobs. Adam looked at them and saw that they were carrying an ID badge. 'Figures, they would have Identity cards with them,' Adam thought as he moved towards the reception. "Hi, I am Adam Sokolov. I just joined today, and I need my ID badge." Adam informed the receptionist with a warm tone and a small smile.
"Hello, Mr. Sokolov, and yes, I have your ID right here with me." With that, she picked up an ID badge from her front desk and passed it over. "Miss Potts is waiting for you on the 40th floor. Have a good day," the receptionist replied calmly.
"Thank you, Miss." Taking his ID, Adam clipped it to his right chest while moving towards the elevators. Getting inside the elevator, he tapped the 40th floor button and waited for his floor to arrive.
A short, high-speed ride later, he stepped out on the 40th floor. From there, Adam went directly to Pepper's office, knocked three times on the door, and waited. "Come in," Pepper's voice came from inside, and so Adam pushed open the door and went inside. This time, Adam did not look around to admire the office but looked directly at the person sitting on the chair behind the desk.
"Good morning, Miss Potts," Adam stated in that same warm tone.
"Good morning, Adam. Please sit, and we will go over what you will be working with." Pepper said with a small smile and a relaxed expression mixed with a little excitement.

Author Note: The upcoming chapters might get somewhat boring. I was thinking of a timeskip to the start of Iron Man 1. What about you guys? Comment on it.
