THE FROZEN REALM: THE KING'S DOMAIN
MONDAY (Lost Hour at 4:33 AM)
The Lost Hour came. Happy walked to the abandoned factory. The fog was thinner now, almost respectful. When he entered, Finn was not sitting on the crate. He was standing tall, solid, his face clear, his eyes bright like silver coins.
"Today, kid, you see my kingdom."
Finn placed a hand on Happy's shoulder. The world shifted. The frozen factory dissolved.
They stood at the top of a vast, frozen staircase that descended into darkness. But the darkness was not empty. Silver lights flickered along the walls – thousands of them, like stars in a cave.
"Layer One," Finn said. "The twilight zone."*
They walked down. The stairs opened into a cavern the size of a city. Frozen buildings stood in ruin. Translucent figures moved between them – some clear (Bound), some blurry (Faded). But when they saw Finn, every single one stopped. They bowed. They stepped aside. They whispered his name.
"Finn. Detective Finn. The Remembered One."
Happy's eyes widened. "They all follow you?"
"I protect them. I give them purpose. The Faded who want to remember – I help them hold onto their names. The Bound who want to be freed – I keep them safe until the Rememberer comes. This is my domain now."
They walked deeper. The air grew colder. The silver lights dimmed.
"Layer Two," Finn said. "The deep dark."
Here, the Nameless were older. Their faces were worn, their bodies barely visible. They did not bow – they knelt. They pressed their foreheads to the frozen ground.
"He came from the surface. He remembered his name. He is stronger than us."
Finn ignored them. He led Happy to a raised platform – a throne made of frozen glass.
"I have collected Bound Nameless who want to be freed. But you are not ready to free them yet. First, you must impress the princess. Build your brand. Become strong in the living world. Then, when you have power and money, you free them one by one. Their Hours will make you unstoppable."
Happy nodded. "I understand."
Finn's face grew dark.
"But there is something you must know. Elara did not die by accident. She was murdered."
Happy's blood froze. "What?"
"Dragan knew about the Lost Hour. He has connections with spirits from this realm dark ones, deep ones. He decoded the pattern. He knew exactly when the Lost Hour would come on that night. He sent someone to push her off the bridge during the freeze. The priest who helped him he had a pact with a Nameless from Layer Three. I hunted that Nameless. I did not kill him alone."
Finn raised his hand. Behind him, dozens of Faded and Bound stepped forward their faces determined, their bodies glowing with silver light.
"They helped me. My army. The forgotten ones who chose to fight. Together, we destroyed the Layer Three entity. There are no more connections. But the Clockmaker felt the disturbance. He knows now that someone is challenging the old order. He has been triggered. He is coming faster than I expected."
Happy's heart pounded. "The Clockmaker is coming?"
"Yes. But not yet. First, you must build your power in the living world. Now go. Impress the princess. And when you return, we free the first of my Bound."
The Lost Hour ended. Happy stood back in the factory. The sun was rising.
THE LIVING WORLD: THE FLIGHT AND THE PRINCESS
THREE DAYS LATER – THURSDAY
Happy walked into Mr. Mehta's office. The manager was eating a slice of honey cake.
"Happy! Sit. What's wrong?"
"Nothing is wrong. I need two weeks of leave. Personal."
Mehta raised an eyebrow. "Two weeks? You are my best supervisor. The factory needs you."
"Mr. Mehta, I have an opportunity – a business opportunity – that could change my life. A princess wants my cake for her wedding. I have been invited to her country. I need to go."
Mehta was silent for a long moment. Then he smiled.
"Two weeks. But when you come back, you bring me a slice of that princess's wedding cake. Understood?"
"Understood."
They shook hands.
FRIDAY – THE AIRPORT
Chloe picked Happy up at 5 AM. She was already dressed in a elegant travel suit.
"Happy, the princess sent a private jet. Well, not private – but business class. First class, actually. And she arranged everything."
Happy's hands trembled. The last time he had flown, he was a poor mechanic from Bihar, taking a loan, flying economy, squeezed between strangers who would not look at him.
This time, he walked into the airport and was greeted by a royal attendant holding a sign: Mr. Happy & Ms. Chloe.
"No lines," the attendant said. "No waiting. Please follow me."
They were led through a private plane. No security check lines. No crowds. Just a quiet, carpeted hallway that opened directly onto the tarmac. A sleek jet waited – silver wings, tinted windows, the flag of Velania on its tail.
Happy stopped. "This is for us?"
Chloe laughed. "This is for you, Happy. The princess is a fan."
They boarded. Business class. Leather seats that turned into beds. Champagne on ice. Fresh fruit. A menu with four options. A flight attendant asked, "Would you like a hot towel, sir?"
Sir. No one had ever called him sir.
Happy looked out the window as the plane took off. Below him, Seattle shrank. Above him, the sky was endless.
He thought of his first flight. The loan. The cramped seat. The man next to him who had complained about the smell of his food. The woman across the aisle who had moved her bag when he tried to sit.
Now, a flight attendant brought him a warm towel and asked if he wanted a blanket.
Chloe took a photo of him. "Smile, Happy. This is history."
He smiled. Chloe posted the photo on Instagram: "Our baker, Happy, flying business class to meet a princess. Dreams come true."
Within minutes, the post had five hundred likes. A thousand. Two thousand. Comments poured in: "Happy is an inspiration." "From mechanic to royal baker." "HES Cakes for the world!"
Happy saw the comments and felt tears in his eyes.
Elara, he thought, you made this possible.
THE PRINCESS'S ESTATE – VELANIA
The plane landed. A black car waited. The drive through the countryside was beautiful green hills, old stone houses, forests that looked like something from a fairy tale.
The princess's estate was a castle. Not a metaphor – an actual castle. Stone walls, turrets, a garden with roses and fountains.
Princess Amalia greeted them at the door. She wore a simple white dress, but her crown was real small diamonds woven into her braids.
"Happy! Chloe! Welcome to my home."
Happy bowed. "Thank you, Your Highness. I am honored."
"No, I am honored. Your cake made me feel something I haven't felt in years. Now, let's taste it again – but this time, with my wedding planners."
They walked into a grand hall. A long table was set with silver. At the center, on a crystal pedestal, was Happy's honey cake freshly baked, golden, perfect.
The princess took a bite. Her eyes closed. She smiled.
"This is the one. No changes. No negotiations. Happy, you will make my wedding cake."
The wedding planners clapped. Chloe hugged Happy...
Then the princess raised her hand.
"And because I am so pleased, my family has decided to open five HES Cakes outlets in Velania. Happy, you will have a home in my country."
Chloe gasped. "Five? I thought we were negotiating for one!"
The princess laughed. "Your cake convinced me. Quality speaks louder than contracts."
After the announcement, guests arrived for the evening reception. Diplomats. Business leaders. And Dragan.
Happy saw him enter. Gray hair. Sharp eyes. A smile that did not reach his lips.
Dragan walked directly to Happy.
"So you are the famous Happy."
His voice was smooth, like oil on glass.
Happy forced himself to smile. "And you are Dragan Petrović."
"I tasted your cake. It has a similar texture to mine. But a different flavour. I am glad the princess rejected my cake for yours. It means she has taste."
Then Dragan stepped closer. His voice dropped to a whisper.
"How is Elara Voss's daughter?"
Happy's blood turned to ice. His hands trembled. But he did not show it.
"I don't know what you mean."
"Of course you do. You freed Elara. You destroyed my spirit connections in the Frozen Realm. You killed my Nameless. That is not acceptable. You are on my list now."
The princess called out, "Dragan! Come, taste the champagne!"
Dragan stepped back. His smile returned.
"Enjoy your victory, Happy. But remember – I built an empire. You have one cake. We will meet again."
He walked away.
Chloe rushed to Happy's side. "What did he say? You look pale."
Happy took a deep breath. "He knows. He knows everything."
"We need to leave."
"No. We need to celebrate. That's what he doesn't expect."
Happy walked to the princess, shook her hand, thanked her, posed for photos. He smiled until his cheeks hurt.
THE RIDE HOME – A NEW BEGINNING
On the flight back, Chloe sat across from Happy. The cabin was quiet. The stars were bright.
"Happy, I need to ask you something."
"Ask."
"You need to quit your job. Full time. We will open a manufacturing unit. You will bake, and I will sell. We will become an MNC – a multinational corporation. This country is our first step. But we cannot do it with you working nights at an airplane factory."
Happy looked at his hands. The golden wheat stalk. The silver scales. The memory of Elara's goodbye.
"I already told Mehta I might not come back."
Chloe smiled. "Then it's settled. Partners?"
"Partners. And friends."
"Always."
They shook hands. Then Chloe pulled him into a hug.
"Happy, you are not the same person who came to this country with a loan and a dream. You are a king now. In your own way."
Happy looked out the window. Below him, the ocean glittered.
Finn is the king of Layer One and Two. But I am the king of my own life.
That night, Happy sat in his apartment. The notebook was open. He wrote:
Today, I flew business class. No loans. No fear. People treated me with respect. A princess called me an inspiration.
Finn is the king of Layer One and Two. He did not kill the Layer Three entity alone – he used an army of Faded and Bound. The Clockmaker has been triggered. He is coming.
Dragan threatened me. He asked about Sofia. He knows everything. But I am not afraid.
Chloe asked me to quit my job. I said yes. We will build an MNC together. HES Cakes will become international.
And in the Frozen Realm, Finn waits. He has Bound Nameless ready to be freed. Their Hours will make me stronger.
My name is Happy. And I will not stop.
He closed the notebook. Outside his window, two silver lights glowed in the darkness – Finn's eyes.
Happy smiled.
Tomorrow, the real work begins.
