Chapter 1 - Hell Lord Lucifer

In a high-end apartment, a young man with golden hair was glued to his computer screen. His eyes shimmered with a golden light but had become extremely pitiful given his current state.

His limbs were shriveled like he was malnourished. His eyes had dark circles, clearly severely sleep-deprived, yet he still wouldn't blink even once.

He chugged an entire bottle of energy drink while his hand never stopped clicking the mouse. Though his body was wrecked, his eyes held a belief that was hard to put into words.

"Go, go. The enemy only has one left."

"Hahaha... My twenty-loss streak is about to end..."

"F*ck!"

He suddenly stood up, slammed the desk hard, grabbed the computer monitor with both hands, and shook it. From his eyes, you could see he was about to go insane.

"You bastard! Why'd you snipe me? If you're tough, face me like a man."

Just earlier, he was running around carelessly and got shot dead by an enemy. Then he immediately lost it, turned on his mic, and started cursing.

"No, no... No!"

"What kind of useless teammates are you? Three-on-one and you still get wiped. What the hell is that? Three pigs playing games could probably shoot better than you."

He was the textbook example of the low-skill but blame-shifting type of teammate in games. Also the type who clearly sucks at gaming but still thinks he's really good.

If this apartment had bad soundproofing, the whole floor of the building would probably have heard his cursing by now.

While he was raging, a knock on the door suddenly interrupted his mood. He paused for a beat to listen and the knocking didn't stop, which made him more and more pissed.

"What? I don't know anyone, so why are you knocking on my door?"

His name was Lucifer, an extremely wealthy orphan. The moment he was born, both his father and mother ran into shit luck and died instantly.

Of course, his wealth didn't come from inheritance but because some rich dude heard about his story and came to find him. Just one look and he decided to adopt Lucifer.

Since he was little, he never knew what working was. Hell, even talking about going to school, not a single day on campus did he ever go.

Living till now for twenty years, the only things he did were eat, sleep, and find something fun to play with. Money kept flowing in, so he could do whatever the hell he wanted.

There were lots of rumors saying that rich guy was actually raising him for organ harvesting later, but does that even make sense? Who would need the organs of a wreck like Lucifer?

He frowned, veins popping on his forehead. Already pissed off about his twenty-one loss streak, the knocking annoyance made him really want to hit someone.

Grabbing a steel pipe, he decided to go "greet" this uninvited guest in a very enthusiastic way.

The moment the door opened, what hit Lucifer's eyes was a middle-aged man with a pale-green, disgusting face. His eyes didn't look like a living person's at all, but Lucifer recognized him as the neighbor on the same floor.

"You think turning into a zombie means I won't beat your ass?"

Lucifer spat right on that nauseating face, then used the steel pipe to repeatedly bash his head until he fell to the ground motionless.

"Hah, even a zombie doesn't have the right to disturb my gaming."

With that, he grumpily planned to kick the zombie corpse out and lock the door. Suddenly a blue screen appeared before him.

[Congratulations, you have successfully become the first person to face a zombie without any fear. You are fully qualified to become the savior to redeem this world.]

[Savior system is connecting...]

[Connection successful.]

[Hello, Lucifer. From today, I am your assistant on the path to saving the world from the evil invasion from hell.]

"What???"

Lucifer's eyes went wide in shock. Not shock that the system existed, but shock at the last sentence.

"Explain clearly to me. What the hell do you mean by a hellish invasion? I'm the lord of hell. So how come I don't know anything about it?"

He wasn't lying. He really was the lord of hell and he also went by the name Demon King Lucifer.

He got bored in hell and his superior wouldn't let him remodel it into something fun, so he found a chance to escape to earth to mess around.

Anyway, he didn't have that many duties, so leaving didn't cause much trouble. But what he never expected was that only twenty years into having fun, this world would run into trouble.

A few days ago, the news reported a strange tower appearing in the middle of the ocean. That massive tower had no physical form, so no one could touch it.

Lucifer knew about it too but didn't care, since right now he didn't have any power on him. Physically, he was even weaker than the average adult male.

[???]

[You still have your memories?]

"Huh???"

The more Lucifer listened, the more he felt something was really weird about this. Like someone was intentionally targeting him.

"You know I'm the lord of hell, yet you still want the lord of hell to be the savior and help humanity fight against hell...

F*ck! What the hell is going on? If you don't explain clearly, once I get bored playing and return to hell, I'll come find you to settle the score."

Right now, even though he didn't have any power at all, the eternal trait of the highest-level beings still remained. As soon as this human body died, he'd return to his true form.

[You can't really blame me for this. My superior just gave me an order: If Lucifer doesn't cooperate, cut his internet. And one more thing—from now on, I'm your surveillance system, not your assistant anymore.]

"What???"

It'd been a long time since anyone talked to Lucifer like that, so he was pretty shocked. Now that he wasn't a peak entity anymore, his abilities were limited, and his emotions were a lot more vivid because of that.
