[Meat and Vegetable Platter (A)]
A dish made from the simplest ingredients, yet made extraordinary by the emotions contained within it.
Cooking Effect:
Permanent Guidance — After consuming it, a Pokémon gains the ability to never get lost and will always be able to find its way home.
This was it.
This was exactly the cooking effect Hayato Sora wanted.
Now he wouldn't have to worry about Chatot flying too far away and losing its way back.
He could finally feel at ease.
Calling Chatot over, Hayato Sora had it eat the entire dish.
Meanwhile, he stood beside it, earnestly giving instructions one after another—like a parent sending a child off from home, full of reluctance.
He was truly worried Chatot might encounter danger outside.
"Caw caw~"
Chatot nodded repeatedly, indicating that it remembered everything Hayato Sora said.
Then Hayato Sora suddenly remembered something important.
A photo.
Last time he had said he would send his mother a family photo, but he never found the time.
Chatot was about to leave.
If they didn't take one now, there might not be another chance.
Hayato Sora hurried into Shalour City, found a photography studio, and invited a photographer to the ranch.
The backdrop was the ranch house.
Hayato Sora stood in the center, surrounded by all the Pokémon.
Even Zapdos joined in—hovering proudly in the sky above them.
With a click of the shutter, the moment was forever captured in the photograph.
Hayato Sora asked for several copies to be printed.
One was hung inside the ranch house.
Another was mailed to his mother.
He originally wanted to give Chatot a copy too, but the studio didn't have a photo small enough for a Pokémon to carry.
Reluctantly, he gave up on the idea.
Time passed quickly.
Soon it was the day Chatot would leave.
Hayato Sora stood at the ranch gate, accompanied by all the Pokémon, seeing Chatot and Zapdos off.
"Go on," Hayato Sora said, waving reluctantly.
"If one day you grow tired of traveling, come back to the ranch. This place will always be your home."
Two loud cries rang out.
Chatot and Zapdos soared into the sky almost simultaneously.
Then flocks of bird Pokémon burst out from the forest, following behind them.
They flew past the ranch.
They flew toward the open sea.
Following the ocean currents formed by Lugia's flight path, they kept flying.
When they grew tired, they rested on remote islands.
After recovering their strength, they took off again.
They flew like this for an unknown amount of time.
Eventually, they saw another continent.
From far away, they spotted a snow-capped mountain piercing into the clouds.
Chatot and Zapdos discussed briefly before deciding to stop and rest.
Thus the flock descended beside a massive lake.
Chatot landed beside a wooden sign, curiously examining the words written on it.
Just then—
A gentle, ethereal voice echoed in its mind.
"This is Lake Verity. What are you here for?"
Chatot was startled.
It looked around in shock before finally spotting a pink fairy-like Pokémon on the lake's surface.
The Pokémon was looking at them with equal curiosity.
Chatot's departure left Hayato Sora feeling melancholy for quite some time.
But life at the ranch had to go on.
Soon, his routine returned to normal.
He harvested ripe crops from the fields and placed them into the Collection Crate before evening.
Every day brought a decent income.
His savings once again approached 100,000 PokéDollars.
The materials consumed when building the Silo and Chicken Coop had also been replenished.
Soon, he would be able to upgrade the ranch house.
Speaking of the chicken coop—
Cyclizar had been guarding the hens every day, waiting for them to lay eggs.
Today was no exception.
After finishing his daily work, Hayato Sora was about to take a short rest.
He called over Cinccino and gave it a few affectionate pats.
But from the corner of his eye, he noticed Cyclizar wobbling toward him upright.
It seemed to be holding something carefully in its claws.
"What are you doing, Cyclizar?"
Hayato Sora and Cinccino both looked at it curiously.
Cyclizar's face was full of excitement.
Slowly, it opened its claws.
Inside was a round chicken egg.
"A hen just laid this?"
"Raaao~"
Cyclizar had been waiting for several days.
It had been watching the hens constantly.
It had even fought with the rooster over it.
"You want to eat it?"
"Raaao—!"
Cyclizar shook its head vigorously.
Then it gently placed the egg on the ground and carefully sat on it.
Hayato Sora immediately understood.
"You want to hatch chicks?"
"Raaao!"
Cyclizar looked a little disappointed when it heard Hayato Sora say,
"One egg isn't enough to hatch chicks."
It really wanted to hatch chicks so the chicken flock would grow bigger.
More chickens meant more eggs.
And that meant it could help Hayato Sora more.
Patting Cyclizar, Hayato Sora suggested,
"You can store the egg first. Once we collect a batch of eggs, we can hatch them together."
"Raaao!"
Cyclizar immediately nodded in agreement.
It excitedly pulled Hayato Sora along, asking him to help build a special box just for storing eggs.
It wanted to hatch lots and lots of chicks.
That way the ranch would never run out of eggs.
Since the box was only for temporary storage, it was easy for Hayato Sora to make.
He built a square wooden box first.
Then he used thin wooden strips to divide the interior into small compartments.
Finally, he placed soft straw at the bottom to prevent the eggs from cracking.
The egg storage box was complete.
Cyclizar happily placed the egg inside and carried the box into the ranch house, setting it beside the corner where it usually slept.
After washing his hands and putting away his tools, Hayato Sora checked the sky.
Then he headed toward the tulip field.
There he saw five Flabébé diligently flying among the flowers.
They collected nectar and stored it in glass bottles placed beside the field.
Three bottles were already filled with golden nectar.
Hayato Sora dipped a finger into the edge of one bottle and tasted it.
The nectar collected by Flabébé was different from honey.
It carried a unique floral fragrance and tasted exceptionally sweet.
After sealing the three bottles, Hayato Sora waved toward the field.
"Flabébé! That's enough for today. Come rest for a while."
"Bébé~"
Tiny figures flew out from the field.
The five Flabébé, each holding their favorite flower, fluttered around Hayato Sora.
Hayato Sora gently caught one and lightly flicked its forehead.
"That's more than enough. You all need to rest too."
"Bébé—"
The little Flabébé hugged Hayato Sora's finger affectionately and rubbed against it.
They wanted to help Hayato Sora earn lots and lots of money.
"You're all such adorable little things."
Hayato Sora patted each of them and said,
"That's it for today. I'll go get your food."
He returned to the ranch house and took out the small egg tarts he had prepared earlier.
When he returned, two Pokémon were following him.
Cinccino held an egg tart in its paws, happily nibbling at it.
Cyclizar stared intently at Hayato Sora's pant leg, waiting for its chance.
"Here—these are for you."
"Bébé~!"
The Flabébé cried happily and accepted the egg tarts.
They loved them the most.
After letting Cinccino take the Flabébé off to play, Hayato Sora mounted Cyclizar.
With the three bottles of flower nectar, he rode away from the ranch.
