Hayato Sora fell seriously ill.
He lay in bed for an entire day and night, his mind constantly drifting in a hazy fog.
He could barely even speak—his throat burned as if it were on fire.
When he tried to make a sound, his voice came out as if it had been scraped across rough gravel. Just hearing it was enough to make one's heart ache.
The one comforting thing was that the Pokémon could still manage the ranch even without him.
Together, they kept everything running smoothly, which filled Hayato Sora with relief.
He reached out and scratched Cinccino under the chin, then asked Cyclizar to add more firewood to the fireplace.
As the bright flames illuminated the room, he could clearly feel his body relaxing.
The chill in his body gradually faded away.
Hayato Sora felt a bit of his strength returning.
Knock knock knock…
A slightly hurried knocking sounded at the door. The door opened a crack, and Mudbray and Flabébé filed inside one after another.
Hayato Sora waved gently to them.
The Pokémon happily ran toward him and gathered around his bedside.
"Mud-mud~"
"Bebe…"
The five Flabébé struggled together to carry a small glass bottle.
Inside was bright golden freshly collected nectar.
"Thank you all."
Hayato Sora smiled as he gently patted them.
"After drinking the nectar you gathered yesterday, I already feel much better."
"Bebe~"
The Flabébé affectionately rubbed against his palm, as if saying that as long as Hayato Sora recovered, they would gladly gather nectar every day.
The three Mudbray pushed their big heads forward too, indicating that they had helped as well.
They hoped Hayato Sora would recover quickly so he could go outside and play with them again.
Hayato Sora patted each of them.
Being loved by so many Pokémon made him truly happy.
Just then, Kangaskhan walked out from the kitchen.
In its hands was a huge soup bowl.
"Raaah."
Time to eat.
Having followed Hayato Sora the longest and often watched him cook, Kangaskhan had picked up a few simple dishes.
For example—boiling noodles.
It was just a simple bowl of clear broth noodles, with a thin layer of oil floating on the surface.
Hayato Sora didn't even need to lift a finger.
Cinccino voluntarily took over feeding duty.
All Hayato Sora had to do was open his mouth.
The hot noodle soup was plain and mild in flavor.
Yet Hayato Sora finished the entire bowl by himself.
To him, this dish tasted better than any meal he had ever eaten.
Warmth spread from inside his body outward, driving away the lingering cold.
"I'm done eating," Hayato Sora said with some effort.
He looked around at all the Pokémon.
"It's really wonderful having you all here."
The next day, Hayato Sora already felt mostly recovered.
His temperature had returned to normal, and his energy gradually stabilized.
However, the Pokémon still refused to let him do any work.
They only allowed him to sit nearby and watch.
They even assigned Cinccino to stay by his side at all times to take care of him.
Though Hayato Sora found it a little amusing, he didn't reject their kindness.
After making a round around the ranch—with Cinccino following closely behind—Hayato Sora stopped in front of the house.
He then asked the Flabébé to gather Chatot, Cyclizar, and the Noibat.
Even if he couldn't do physical work, it didn't stop him from learning what had happened that night.
Especially Chatot and Cyclizar.
Sneaking out and coming back injured—double the offense.
"Noibat, you start."
Hayato Sora pointed at them first. He wanted to hear the story from the beginning.
The three Noibat stood in a row with their heads lowered, looking dejected as they awaited Hayato Sora's questioning.
They took turns explaining what had happened that night.
From their account, Hayato Sora roughly understood the situation.
He first gave them a serious lecture so they could fully realize their mistake.
After they apologized, Hayato Sora comforted them.
He explained that he wasn't forbidding them from leaving the ranch—but they needed to consider safety and not make their family worry.
After finishing with the Noibat, he had them step aside.
Then Hayato Sora turned his gaze toward a corner.
There stood Cyclizar and Chatot, trying their best to hide.
Hayato Sora's expression turned serious.
"Explain honestly. What exactly did you two go out to do that day?"
"Gah-aw!"
Cyclizar poked Chatot, signaling it to speak.
Chatot ruffled its feathers, knowing it couldn't avoid this today.
So it told the entire story from beginning to end without hiding anything.
Its attitude in admitting fault was extremely sincere.
During Chatot's explanation, Cyclizar occasionally tried to interrupt, adding details—and attempting to shift a bit of the blame.
Smack.
Hayato Sora tapped Cyclizar on the head.
"Don't interrupt. Let Chatot finish."
The other Pokémon all shot Cyclizar unfriendly looks.
Cyclizar quickly squatted down and covered its mouth with its claws.
"I understand the general situation now."
Hayato Sora nodded thoughtfully.
He began organizing the useful information from Chatot's story.
"So at first, Chatot and its flock were searching along the coast for a place to build a nest."
"Then Zapdos suddenly appeared, seized your nesting place, and even toyed with you. Right?"
"Caw caw!"
Chatot was furious at the memory.
"You asked many Pokémon for help but none of them could defeat Zapdos. Eventually you came to Cyclizar."
"But why did you think Cyclizar could defeat Zapdos?"
That was the part Hayato Sora didn't understand.
Even the weakest Zapdos was still a Legendary Pokémon.
A divine beast.
It had already surpassed ordinary Pokémon and possessed the ability to manipulate natural forces.
But Cyclizar?
This little guy had been alive for less than a year.
It was raised mainly as a ride Pokémon.
How strong could its combat ability possibly be?
It might not even beat the countless wild Pikachu running around everywhere.
And yet it went to fight Zapdos?
Hayato Sora's gaze locked onto Cyclizar.
After all, Cyclizar had come back with a mouthful of Zapdos crest feathers.
That meant it hadn't been completely overwhelmed in the battle.
He was extremely curious how Cyclizar had managed it.
Meeting Hayato Sora's gaze, Cyclizar proudly puffed out its chest.
"Gah-aw~ Bow before me! Worship me! I am the God of the Future! A mere Zap—"
Before Cyclizar could finish, Hayato Sora smacked it lightly on the forehead.
"Speak properly."
Cyclizar pouted.
Its dignity as the God of the Future clearly meant nothing here.
"Gah-aw!"
Still, Cyclizar obediently began explaining everything.
It ran a short distance away.
Since the battle with Zapdos, Cyclizar had begun sensing the power of the future gradually returning.
It could now control thunderstorms and lightning.
Blue-purple lightning flickered across its body as its dragon-like tail pointed toward the sky.
In an instant, dark clouds gathered.
Lightning brewed within them as rain began pouring down, watering the vegetable fields ahead.
"Rain Dance? No… there's also Thunder mixed in."
Hayato Sora observed carefully.
Then Cyclizar lifted into the air, wrapped in lightning.
Behind it appeared a faint figure—both familiar and unfamiliar.
"Gah-aw~ My power has returned!"
Cyclizar roared excitedly.
As it transformed, it sprinted at incredible speed, turning into a mysterious bolt of lightning that pierced through the clouds and shattered the rainstorm with overwhelming force.
Signature Move of the God of the Future – Miraidon: Lightning Rush.
"Raaah!"
Beside Hayato Sora, Kangaskhan narrowed its eyes.
Even it might not be able to withstand that move.
"Gah-aw aw~ Hayato Sora! Hayato Sora! Wasn't that cool? You believe me now, right?"
Having exhausted its strength, Cyclizar rushed back to Hayato Sora, wagging excitedly and asking for praise.
Looking at the Cyclizar in front of him, Hayato Sora found it hard to associate it with Miraidon.
Wasn't this just a big dog that loved sandwiches, begged for head pats, and liked chewing on his pant leg?
