Chapter 59 - The "Duck-Motor" Express and the Art of Air Travel

On the sea, a faint, savory scent of charred meat lingered in the air.

Zzzt... zzzt...

The massive sea beast, Momoo, lay floating like a small island, eyes rolled back in its head. Its body still twitched occasionally from the residual current coursing through its nerves.

"Meat!! A giant mountain of roasted meat!!" Luffy hung over the prow, his eyes locked onto the massive heap of protein. Crystal-clear drool leaked from the corner of his mouth like a wolf that hadn't eaten in three days.

"I'm inclined to agree." Sanji had somehow already produced a whetstone and a carving knife. He elegantly rolled up his sleeves, a chef's lethal glint in his eyes.

"A bit overcooked on the outside, but if we slice away the charred skin, the meat inside should be perfectly rare. This is top-tier sea beast meat; the steaks will be legendary."

"Yossh! Let's dig in!" Luffy cheered, his rubber arms stretching out as he prepared to pounce.

Grip.

A hand reached out and firmly snatched Luffy by the back of his collar.

"Wait a second, you two gluttons." Viktor smiled as he yanked Luffy back. He looked at the sea beast, which was still breathing, and shook his head.

"Eating it would be such a waste. Our 'Shimashima-Go' only has manual oars; we're moving too slow."

He pointed at the twitching Momoo, a spark of calculation in his eyes. "Don't we have a perfectly good 'motor' right here?"

"Motor?" Luffy and Sanji blinked in unison.

Just then, Momoo let out a pained groan and slowly opened its copper-bell-sized eyes. It shook its heavy head, still reeling from the terrifying electric shock.

When it saw the humans on the small boat—specifically the black-haired youth who had just given it "electrotherapy"—its pupils shrank to the size of pinpricks.

"MOOO!!" It let out a terrified shriek, spinning around to dive into the depths.

"Trying to run?" Viktor let out a cold chuckle. With a light step, he drifted onto Momoo's massive nose like a wisp of smoke.

Vroom—

His black eyes instantly transformed into the crimson Sharingan, two tomoe swirling with an eerie, icy light. A wave of spiritual pressure slammed into Momoo's simplistic brain.

Flutter!

Klay, sensing the moment, flew over and landed firmly on Viktor's shoulder. He puffed out his chest, hiding behind Viktor's aura, and screeched: "Caw! Big guy! Look at the Boss's eyes!"

As a user of the "Echo-Echo Fruit," Klay was a master of animal speech—the perfect translator. He glared with his beady eyes and used his raspy voice to relay Viktor's terms.

"The Boss says we're going to the island ahead! You have two choices!"

"One: Pull the boat like a good boy. Full speed ahead!"

"Two..."

Zzzt! Zzzt!

Viktor raised his hand cooperatively, his palm lighting up with the blue-white arcs of lightning that had caused Momoo so much despair.

Klay added sinisterly, "Two: We roast you right now and start our banquet! Caw caw caw!"

Momoo looked at the red-eyed boy radiating a demonic aura, then at the blonde cook who wanted to turn it into sashimi, and finally at the rubber kid who looked ready to swallow it whole. Its psychological defenses collapsed instantly.

"Moooo-hoo-hoo..." The fierce sea beast let out a pathetic whimper like a kicked puppy, nodding its head frantically. It did not want to become a barbecue.

"That's a good boy," Viktor said, deactivating his Sharingan and lightning. He patted the beast's massive head. He retrieved a thick anchor cable from the boat, tied a professional knot, and looped it around Momoo's neck. The other end was secured tightly to the neck of the duck prow.

"Alright, everyone, hang on tight." Viktor hopped back onto the boat, gripping the rope like a veteran chariot driver. "Full speed ahead! Target—Northwest!"

"MOOOO!!!"

Driven by the pure instinct of self-preservation, Momoo unleashed unprecedented potential. It let out a mighty roar, its massive tail slamming into the water, and its body surged forward like a torpedo.

Snap!

The cable went taught instantly. The sluggish duck-boat was suddenly equipped with a jet engine.

BOOM—!!

The massive inertia caused the prow to tilt upward, nearly vertical to the water. The small supply ship accelerated so violently that the hull actually lifted off the water's surface, beginning to skip across the waves like a stone!

Slap! Slap! Slap!

The "Shimashima-Go" bounced wildly across the sea.

"WAAAAAAAGH!!" Johnny and Yosaku clung to each other, tears and snot flying in the wind. Their screams were shredded by the gale. "Too fast!! We're gonna fly!!"

"THIS ISN'T A BOAT ANYMORE!!!" Usopp gripped the mast for dear life, his eyeballs bulging and his face deforming under the wind pressure. "Viktor!! Slow it down!! I'm falling apart!!"

"YA-HAAAAA!!!" Only Luffy, the fearless captain, was actually enjoying it. He straddled the duck's head, gripping the beak with one hand and waving his straw hat with the other. "Awesome! Awesome! Faster! We're flying! Shishishi!"

The most miserable passenger, however, was Zoro.

Thump! Bang! Crash!

As the boat jolted, the heavily injured swordsman was bounced around the small cabin like a marble in a tin can.

"Urgh... damn... it hurts..." Zoro clutched his freshly stitched chest, teeth gritted in agony. He managed to stick his head out and roar at the relaxed figure at the prow. "Viktor!! You lunatic!!"

"Are you trying to kill me?! My stitches... they're ripping, you bastard!!"

Viktor, hearing Zoro's complaint, remembered they had a patient on board. He hurried over to help steady Zoro, then looked back at the screaming crew and smiled. "Don't complain. Isn't this much faster than rowing? At this rate, we'll catch up to Nami in no time."

"IT'S NOT A QUESTION OF SPEED, YOU RED-EYED BASTARD!!" Sanji yelled, hugging the gunwale to avoid being thrown overboard.

Under Momoo's desperate pulling, a journey that should have taken half a day was condensed into thirty minutes. Soon, an island covered in lush green forests appeared on the horizon—the island where Cocoyasi Village was located.

"We're here! I see it!" Luffy pointed ahead.

However, Viktor soon realized a serious problem. This duck-boat... didn't have brakes. And under Momoo's terrifying acceleration, their speed was now far too high to stop. They were on a collision course with the coastal reef.

"Moo??" Momoo noticed the danger too, looking back with terrified eyes as if to ask: How do we stop?!

"No choice." Viktor stood up, his gaze narrowing as he barked an order. "Momoo! Use all your strength! Fling the boat onto the shore!!"

"Moo?!" The sea beast was confused, but under Viktor's overwhelming presence, it acted instinctively. It slammed on the brakes, its massive body stopping abruptly in the water, and used the remaining inertia to whip its powerful neck upward!

Snap—!!

The cable snapped. Relieved of its anchor, the "Shimashima-Go" used the terrifying momentum to launch out of the sea!

"WAAAAAAAGH!!" "WE'RE... WE'RE REALLY FLYING!!!"

Accompanied by the screams of the entire crew (except for Luffy's cheers), the ridiculous duck-headed boat turned into a cannonball. It traced a perfect arc through the sky, clearing the coastline and the beach.

CRASH-BOOM!!!

A world-shaking sound erupted. The "Shimashima-Go," trailing a cloud of dust and debris, slammed into the dense forest near the village, crushing a massive swath of trees and startling countless birds.

As the dust settled, Viktor smiled and set down Zoro, whom he had caught in a bridal carry to protect his wounds.

"Ah... I thought I was dead. You actually have a bit of a conscience," Zoro muttered, landing and immediately checking his swords.

"Cough... cough..." Sanji struggled to push a wooden plank off himself. "I am absolutely... absolutely going to kill that red-eyed bastard..."

In the depths of the forest, the massive commotion immediately alerted several fishmen on patrol, as well as the villagers living their cautious lives nearby.

"What was that sound?!" "Is it a cannon attack?" "I think I saw... a duck?"
