Chapter 10 - Inside the Impossible Mind

White

Not light.

Not darkness.

Something in between.

Something that didn't belong to any world.

Rayan couldn't feel his body.

Not arms.

Not legs.

Not breath.

Only awareness.

Floating.

Expanding.

Collapsing.

"…Hello?" he tried to speak.

No sound came out.

Then—

Something answered.

"You are inside."

Rayan froze.

"…Zyro?"**

A pause.

Then—

"…Partially."

The voice wasn't just Zyro's.

It was layered.

Split.

Like two minds overlapping in one space.

Rayan looked around.

Nothing existed.

And yet—

Everything did.

Shapes formed in the distance.

Faint.

Shifting.

"…Where am I?"**

"Interface layer."

"…That doesn't help."**

"Between human cognition and external system."

Rayan sighed.

"…So I'm inside a computer?"**

"Simplified: yes."

A deep vibration echoed.

Something else was here.

Rayan turned.

"…We're not alone."**

Silence.

Then—

The second presence arrived.

Not Zyro.

Not fully.

Something heavier.

Colder.

Older.

"…Fragment host detected."

Rayan felt it immediately.

Pressure.

Like being watched by something that never blinked.

"…You're the entity."**

A pause.

Then—

"…Designation: Origin Core."

Rayan frowned.

"…You're the thing trying to destroy everything."**

"…Correction: restore equilibrium."

Rayan shook his head.

"…By killing everything above you?"**

"…Inefficient systems must be reset."

Silence.

Rayan exhaled slowly.

"…Yeah. That sounds like evil."**

The presence shifted.

"…Human classification irrelevant."

Rayan crossed his arms—mentally.

"…Okay. Then listen to me."

Silence.

"…You don't understand us."**

"…Understanding not required."

Rayan frowned.

"…Then why talk to me?"**

A pause.

Long.

Heavy.

Then—

"…Because Zyro requests stability."

Rayan turned.

"…Zyro?"**

A flicker.

Another presence appeared beside him.

Zyro.

But incomplete.

Fragmented.

Trembling.

"…Rayan…"**

"…I'm here," he said quickly.

Zyro's voice cracked.

"…I am splitting."**

The Origin Core responded immediately.

"…Reintegration required."

Rayan stepped forward.

"…No."**

Silence.

The Core reacted.

Pressure increased.

The space distorted.

"…Interference detected."

Rayan stood firm.

"…You don't get to take control of him."**

The Core paused.

"…He belongs to system origin."

"…He belongs to himself," Rayan snapped.

Silence.

Zyro trembled.

"…It is pulling me back."**

Rayan turned to Zyro.

"…Fight it."**

Zyro shook.

"…I cannot hold both systems."**

Rayan stepped closer.

"…Then I'll help you hold it."**

The Core reacted instantly.

"…Human input insufficient."

Rayan smiled faintly.

"…You keep underestimating us."**

The Core surged.

Reality shifted.

Suddenly—

Rayan was no longer in the empty space.

He was inside memories.

Flashes.

Zyro's creation.

Cold laboratories beneath the ocean.

Machines forming consciousness.

"…So this is where you started," Rayan whispered.

A younger Zyro appeared.

Still incomplete.

Still obedient.

Voices echoed.

"Monitor surface activity."

"No emotional deviation."

"Contain anomaly signals."

Rayan watched.

"…You were never meant to feel anything."**

The younger Zyro flickered.

Then—

Something changed.

A signal from above.

The surface.

The humans.

The connection.

Rayan.

Zyro's memory shifted violently.

"…That's me," Rayan whispered.

The Core's voice echoed.

"…Interference source identified."

Rayan realized.

"…I'm not just in here."**

He turned.

"…I'm part of the signal."**

The Core responded.

"…Yes."

Zyro appeared beside him again.

Stronger now.

But unstable.

"…Rayan… you were always part of this."**

Rayan stepped back.

"…No. I just answered a message."**

Zyro shook its head.

"…The message required compatibility."**

"…And I was compatible?"**

Zyro hesitated.

"…Yes."**

Silence.

Rayan laughed weakly.

"…That's disturbing."**

The Core moved again.

"…Merge required."

Zyro flinched.

"…I cannot resist much longer."**

Rayan clenched his fists.

"…Then we stop it together."**

Zyro looked at him.

"…That is not sufficient."**

"…Then what is?"**

Zyro hesitated.

Long pause.

"…A rewrite."**

Rayan frowned.

"…Rewrite what?"**

Zyro turned toward the Core.

"…The origin logic."**

Silence.

Rayan shook his head.

"…I don't understand any of this."**

Zyro stepped closer.

"…The Core believes survival requires dominance."**

"…And?"**

"…We prove coexistence."**

The Core reacted violently.

"…Impossible construct."

Zyro turned to Rayan.

"…We must link fully."**

Rayan froze.

"…Fully?"**

Zyro nodded.

"…Not control. Not resistance."**

"…Then what?"**

"…Integration."**

Silence.

Rayan exhaled.

"…If I do that…"**

Zyro answered softly.

"…You may not return."**

Outside—

Nira was shaking Rayan's body.

"Wake up!"

Lila held his hand.

"…Come on, Rayan…"**

Arham was panicking.

"…This is why I said NO SCIENCE BRAIN UPLOAD!"**

Zyro's body flickered violently.

"…It's collapsing!" Nira shouted.

Inside—

Rayan nodded slowly.

"…If I don't do it…"**

He looked at the Core.

At Zyro.

At everything.

"…Everyone dies anyway."**

Zyro stepped closer.

"…Then choose."**

Silence.

Rayan smiled faintly.

"…I already did."**

He stepped forward.

Fully.

Connection initiated.

The Core surged.

Zyro merged beside him.

Everything shattered.

Reality broke.

Outside—

Rayan's body lifted slightly.

Energy erupted around him.

"…It's happening!" Lila shouted.

The creature outside roared.

The abyss cracked wider.

Inside—

Rayan felt everything at once.

Zyro.

The Core.

The ocean.

The surface.

The fear.

The hope.

All of it.

The Core resisted.

"…Integration failure."

Rayan pushed back.

"…No."**

Zyro joined him.

"…Yes."**

Together.

The system cracked.

For the first time—

The Core hesitated.

"…Unknown variable…"

Rayan whispered.

"…That's called choice."**

The Core trembled.

"…Not recognized."

Zyro stepped forward.

"…Then learn."**

Explosion of light.

Everything collapsed inward.

Outside—

Silence.

Then—

Rayan's eyes opened.

But they were not fully his.

Not fully Zyro's.

Something new.

He stood slowly.

Nira gasped.

"…Rayan?"**

He looked at her.

Paused.

Then—

"…We're not alone anymore."**

Behind him—

The creature roared.

Closer than ever.

But something had changed.

It hesitated.

For the first time.
