Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE: THE FINAL MORNING

The morning didn't feel real.

Victoria Loveth knew it the moment she opened her eyes.

Everything looked the same the pale cream ceiling, the quiet hum of the fan, the faint sunlight slipping through her curtain but something deep inside her felt… different.

Heavy.

Like her heart already knew what her mind was still trying to accept.

Today was her last day of school.

Forever.

She lay still for a moment, staring at the ceiling, as memories rushed into her mind without warning. Classrooms. Laughter. Punishments. Tests. Friends. Tears. Dreams.

Years of her life… ending in a single day.

"Victoria!" her mother's voice called from the kitchen. "You'll be late!"

Victoria blinked slowly, sitting up.

"I'm awake!" she replied, though her voice sounded distant even to herself.

She got out of bed and stood in front of her mirror.

Her uniform was already laid out neatly on the chair.

White shirt. Blue skirt. Same as always.

But today, it looked… unfamiliar.

She picked it up slowly, running her fingers over the fabric.

"How can something I wore every day suddenly feel like this?" she whispered.

She dressed carefully, paying attention to every detail—the buttons, the collar, the way the skirt fell. It was almost like she was trying to remember the feeling.

Because she knew…

This would be the last time.

Breakfast felt quieter than usual.

Her mother watched her with a small smile.

"You're thinking too much," she said.

Victoria forced a light laugh. "Am I that obvious?"

"It's your last day. Of course you are."

Victoria nodded slowly, staring at her food.

"Will you miss it?" her mother asked.

Victoria paused.

She wanted to say no immediately.

That she was tired of school. Tired of waking up early. Tired of tests.

But the word didn't come out.

Instead, she said softly, "I think I already do."

The road to school felt shorter than ever.

Or maybe time was just moving too fast.

Victoria watched everything carefully the small shops, the children in uniforms, the familiar turns.

It all felt like something she was about to leave behind.

When she reached the school gate, she stopped.

Students were gathered everywhere—laughing, shouting, taking pictures.

The same place she had walked into for years…

Now felt like a memory already.

"VICTORIA LOVETH!"

She turned quickly.

Tobi came running toward her, slightly out of breath but smiling widely.

"We did it!" he said, spreading his arms dramatically. "We survived school!"

Victoria laughed. "Barely."

He looked at her closely. "You okay?"

She nodded. "Yeah… just thinking."

"Don't think today," he said. "Today is for enjoyment."

She smiled.

"I'll try."

They walked into the school together.

But something had changed.

Nobody was rushing.

Nobody was worried about being late.

Students stood in groups, hugging, laughing, shouting names across the compound.

Some people were already crying.

Others acted like nothing was happening.

But everyone knew.

This was the end.

Victoria stepped into her classroom slowly.

It felt smaller than she remembered.

Or maybe she had just grown.

Her desk was still there.

The same seat she had occupied for years.

She walked toward it and sat down gently.

Her fingers traced the surface of the desk.

She noticed little carvings, faded ink marks, tiny scratches.

Memories.

So many memories.

The day she wrote her first note.

The day she got caught talking.

The day she laughed so hard she couldn't breathe.

The day she cried quietly after failing a test.

Everything lived in that desk.

"Sign my shirt!"

Victoria looked up.

A group of girls stood in front of her, holding markers and laughing.

"Come on, don't dull!" one of them said.

Victoria smiled and stood up.

Soon, the classroom turned into a storm of movement.

Markers everywhere.

Names being written.

Messages, jokes, promises.

Tobi appeared beside her again, holding his shirt.

"Your turn," he said.

Victoria took the marker.

She hesitated.

"What if I write something embarrassing?" she asked.

"That's the point," he grinned.

She laughed softly and wrote carefully:

"Victoria Loveth was here. Don't forget me."

Tobi read it.

Then looked at her.

"I won't," he said.

This time…

It didn't feel like a joke.

The bell rang.

And something about it felt… different.

Not annoying.

Not rushed.

Just… final.

Their teacher walked in slowly.

The classroom went quiet not because they were told to, but because they wanted to.

She looked at them for a long moment.

"You've all grown," she said softly.

No one spoke.

"I remember when some of you couldn't even introduce yourselves properly," she continued with a small smile.

A few students laughed.

"And now… look at you."

Victoria felt her chest tighten.

"I won't teach today," the teacher said. "There's nothing left to teach."

She paused.

"Just one thing… don't forget who you are. The world outside will try to change you. Don't let it take the best parts of you."

Silence filled the room.

Some students looked down.

Some nodded slowly.

Victoria blinked, holding back tears.

Later, the school compound was alive.

Music played loudly.

People danced freely.

Phones captured every moment.

But in the middle of all the noise…

There was a quiet sadness.

Victoria stood under a tree, watching everything.

Tobi joined her again.

"So… what happens now?" he asked.

Victoria exhaled slowly.

"I don't know."

"Scary, right?"

"A little."

They stood in silence.

Then Tobi said quietly,

"I'll miss this."

Victoria nodded.

"Me too."

The final bell rang.

And this time…

It echoed.

Deep.

Long.

Unforgettable.

Nobody moved immediately.

Then slowly…

People began to leave.

Hugs became tighter.

Goodbyes became real.

Victoria walked toward the gate.

Then stopped.

She turned back one last time.

The classrooms.

The field.

The people.

Her past.

She took a deep breath.

"Goodbye," she whispered.

And with that…

Victoria Loveth stepped out of the gate.

Not as a student anymore.

But as someone standing at the beginning of a new life
