Chapter 3 - The second playthrough part two

Rail looked, and then he saw it: his tiny little baby six-year-old hands. A smirk tugged on his face; he got his second playthrough.

Health is a weird stat because as long as it doesn't reach 0, Rail won't die no matter what.

Stamina measures numerically how many physical tasks Rail can handle, and like health it is a weird stat, and he can continue to move without exhaustion as long as he has some left.

Mana is one of the most important stats because it is the energy that skills use. Unlike in novels and fairy tales, the player cannot manipulate it to make a fireball spell.

Strength is how much damage Rail does with pure brute physicality, measured numerically.

Agility is the speed at which Rail runs, measured numerically. It takes into account acceleration, dodge speed, and movement fluidity.

Dexterity measures Rail's accuracy and fine motor control in numerical numbers.

Defense calculates how much health is taken away when Rail gets hit. The higher his defense, the lower his health goes down.

Intelligence has two functions: firstly, it measures Rail's intelligence; secondly, it decides how much damage is done when using magic skills.

Wisdom also has two functions: the first is that it increases the information and comprehension of the player, and the second is that it lowers the mana cost when using skills.

Instinct measures adaptability, and reflexes are measured numerically.

Luck increases the chance of loot dropping from quests, mobs, loot chests, special events, and loot bundles.

It took Rail many trials and errors in the tutorial to find this information.

The tutorial is quite literally a tutorial. It has two main functions: the first is that it traps the player in a box where they have to fight multiple enemies and learn what the game is.

The second is telling the player the truth: life is but a game.

The tutorial started when Rail was six years old in the first playthrough, immediately after he opened his gift.

He expected chaos when he returned, but for him it was sixty years; for the rest of the world, it was 2 minutes.

His worldview had shifted. Very few people were considered other players to him, and he mostly thought of others as if they were part of a game.

Waaah wah wah wahh. "Big brother, can you make me a nice dewicous sanwich?" Rail turned his head, and there he saw her: a little adorable white-haired kid, his younger sister. Although she may have killed him once, that was water under the bridge. Every Opius knows family can always be forgiven.

"Fine, go to my bedroom. I'll make you a nice delicious sandwich, and we can eat while we watch some nice television. What was your favorite show again? Cloaked Detective Kid?"

Rail walked to the kitchen. The kitchen that he had once personally burned down because he couldn't understand the concept of his own mother's death.

He grabbed three glass plates. He put four pieces of bread on one plate and four pieces on another. He put just two pieces of bread on the last one.

He grabbed a jar of jelly from the fridge and a butter knife from the dishwasher.

He spread the jelly on five pieces of bread, then he went to the cabinet once more to get the peanut butter.

He spread the peanut butter on the remaining five slices of bread.

He matched each slice of bread with peanut butter with a slice of bread with jelly, ending up with five peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

He grabbed a sandwich and headed toward the direction of his little brother's room.

Rail opened the white door leading to the toddler's room.

And he heard a loud scream.

"Big bro, look at this new episode of Ferocious Ferrets' new show! Isn't he so cool? One day I'm going to be just like him!"

"Level up enough and you could definitely surpass some mediocre C-rank hero whose power is to turn into the dumbest carnivore ever," Rail said, handing his dumb hot-headed blonde brother a sandwich.

Rail went back to the kitchen. This time he just grabbed the plates with the sandwiches.

He then went on the long walk to his own room, where his sister was waiting and already watching an old television show from the 21st century.

"Hey sis, here's a sandwich. What show is this?" Rail asked, clearly puzzled on what this show he had never seen was.

"Its nothing, just an old superhero show but it is surprisingly good," the cheerful white-haired kid said while practically jumping up and down.
