The boundary folds between Eirwen's botanical sanctuary and Loccy's northern foundry rippled like thin silk stretched across mountain gorges.
Rumi knelt beside the eastern boundary marker, pressing a piece of blue chalk into the mossy stone to seal the transit vector.
"I left the route-mark chalk for Eirwen beneath the boundary marker..." she said, flicking her feline ears toward the western pass.
Across the folded space, thirty paces away, Nari adjusted her leather harness as she prepared for the return transit.
"Rumi left me the part that cannot be shared," she murmured, checking the spatial tension along her daggers.
"Do not let the boundary folds twist your footing while crossing the canyon!"
"I have crossed seventy mountain passes without slipping once on loose scree," the younger sister replied with a confident grin.
"This is not loose scree, little sister... this is folded space under hostile pressure!"
