Yenna drove the sixth resonance rod into the gravel bed, forcing its crystalline tip to hum against the mountain wind.

Senior Evaluator Kael shook the bronze readout frame with growing irritation, glaring down at the flat needles.

"There is nothing here," the senior evaluator snapped, turning toward the survey team with an exasperated scoff.

"No residual rift radiation, no spatial tear, and not even a trace of demonic miasma lingering along the cliff!"

Yenna stepped past the bronze rods, her sharp gaze sweeping across the freshly cleaved granite precipice.

She knelt beside the fault line, resting two slender fingers directly against the sheared face of the rock.

"The bedrock was severed clean through with condensed solar energy," she observed quietly, her brow furrowing in deep thought.

"A strike with this degree of thermal penetration requires at least fifth-circle evocation output."
