Chapter 63 - Attempt

Hajin peeled his palm away once Sable's next current slid through the junction without snagging on his thread.

She stayed seated while he shook out his fingers, then lifted her own palm to test the new flow herself. A breeze curled above her hand without snapping the loose hem, and she let it fade before fastening her jacket.

"Acceptable," Sable muttered, yanking the rear strap through its buckle as she stood, "the pressure settled, and I can work with this."

Juna's tail swished as she eyed the knee Sable stopped strangling, "Wow, what a glowing recommendation."

"I wasn't writing you one." She jerked her wrist guard into place and checked the sword lying beside her.

"Naturally, and you looked so wonderfully comfortable the whole time."

"I was testing the adjustment," she hissed, a flush creeping up her neck as she snatched up her weapon and turned her back on that smirk.

Hajin stepped between their glares before either woman found a sharper use for the other's face.
