Yenna stood against the wall outside the guild entrance with her arms folded, watching the morning traffic go past without taking any of it in.
"I still can't believe Allen approved it," she muttered, "some nobody turns up without credentials, drops a royal recommendation on the counter, then walks off with an examination date."
Mila had bought a pastry off a street vendor on the way over, so she took her time with a bite of it before she answered.
"You are still chewing on this," Mila said with her mouth half full, "it has been one day."
"Of course I am," Yenna said, turning to face her, "people like us spent years earning our positions, while he put down a core with a seal on it."
She had heard four versions of this speech since yesterday, so she let the fifth one run without interrupting.
"He did clear a four-shard anomaly," Mila said, brushing sugar off her thumb, "that is not a thing you can fake."
