He thought he would die the moment he opened the door.
He thought that the moment he saw Damian, he would roar, go mad, and land a vicious punch. Chaisi imagined he would be consumed by a searing, white-hot hatred—burned to ash, reduced to a heap of whimpering ruins right where he stood.
Of course, nothing happened.
When he stepped into the hallway, Damian was standing a few paces away. He was wearing a set of dark blue pajamas, and with a shaky breath, he smiled at Chaisi and said, "This is great, Brother Chaisi. Good thing you're still awake."
Even if he could never truly call Damian his little brother, Damian was still his brother.
Chaisi almost wanted to turn and run.
But in the end, he just forced the words out of his throat. "What... What happened?"
