Chapter 77: The Passing Big Sister Serval Deals Super Break Damage to Stelle and Caelus
After eating and drinking their fill at a local street vendor, the group strolled leisurely through the cobblestone streets of Belobog. The crisp, cool air of the city brushed against their faces, a stark contrast to the endless snowfields outside the city walls. Before long, the towering, crystalline structure of the Everwinter Monument loomed into view, casting a faint, prismatic glow over the plaza.
"Look at that ice sculpture! Its shape is so unique!" March 7th bounced on her heels, her pink hair swaying as she raised her hands to frame the monument like a photograph. "I feel like it matches the style of this city perfectly!"
Dan Heng crossed his arms, his gaze sweeping over the complex, frost-like details of the towering structure. "Regardless of the material, I'm certain it's definitely not an ice sculpture..." he analyzed calmly, his voice steady and grounded.
"That's true, the city is actually quite warm." March 7th lowered her hands and nodded in agreement, adjusting the collar of her jacket.
At that moment, Leon's attention drifted away from the monument. A few paces away, he noticed a petite girl with oversized round glasses and a neat navy-blue uniform standing in front of the structure, earnestly explaining something to a group of bundled-up children.
Pela.
Leon rubbed his chin, a knowing glint flashing in his eyes. A four-star War God just like Tingyun! Her versatility in combat was notoriously high. A 'Dual-Wielding Pela'was an absolute menace on the battlefield. Whenever the community discussed top-tier support capabilities, Pela was always calculated using the relentless energy cycle of the'Before the Tutorial Mission Starts'Light Cone combined with the brutal defense reduction of'Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat.' Hence the legendary moniker: Dual-Wielding Pela.
Because of this sheer utility, back during the 1.0 era, Silver Wolf was often jokingly referred to as 'Little Pela.'
Thinking of this, Leon slowly turned his head, his gaze landing squarely on the hacker standing beside him.
Silver Wolf casually chewed her gum, blowing a large pink bubble that popped with a soft snap. She paused, her fingers hovering over her holographic screen. She keenly sensed the weight of Leon's stare, her eyes narrowing into a deadpan glare.
"What are you looking at me for?" she muttered, crossing her arms. "I always feel like you're thinking about something bad."
"Your intuition is really accurate!" Leon admitted frankly, flashing her a bright, shameless grin.
Silver Wolf stared at him, her expression flattening into absolute apathy. Good grief, he just admitted it straight up? He was not even trying to hide it anymore.
A few yards away, the bespectacled girl cleared her throat, drawing the children's attention back to her. "Let me introduce myself. I am the Intelligence Officer of the Silvermane Guards and a temporary guide for the Belobog History Tour, Pelageya Sergeyevna." She offered a gentle, welcoming smile. "You can just call me Pela."
Despite Belobog's harsh external environment and the stagnation of its technology, basic education in the Overworld had never been neglected. Every semester, the local schools organized field trips for the students to visit the Everwinter Monument, ensuring the history of the Architects was passed down.
"Yes, Pe~la~ Sis~ter~" the children called out in unison, their milky, high-pitched voices echoing sweetly across the plaza.
Leon, Stelle, and Caelus slowly turned their heads. Their eyes met. In that single, silent fraction of a second, a flawless, unspoken consensus was reached. The three of them simultaneously cracked identical, mischievous grins.
They inhaled deeply, puffed out their chests, and mimicked the children's exact cadence, shouting at the top of their lungs:
"Pe~la~ Sis~ter~"
March 7th froze, her jaw dropping.
Firefly's face instantly erupted in a furious blush, her hands flying up to cover her cheeks.
Dan Heng closed his eyes, exhaled a long, suffering sigh, and silently turned his back to the trio.
Welt adjusted his glasses, suddenly finding the architecture of the nearby buildings incredibly fascinating.
Silver Wolf simply looked down, aggressively tapping the screen of her phone, pretending she existed in an entirely different dimension.
Pela stiffened. The clipboard in her hands trembled slightly. She hadn't paid much attention to Leon's group at first, assuming they were just ordinary tourists. But hearing three fully grown adults belt out "Pela Sister" in that sickly-sweet tone sent an instant, violent wave of goosebumps cascading down her arms.
"...Could certain adults please stop imitating children so casually!" Pela scolded, her cheeks flushing with a mix of embarrassment and professional indignation.
"This is discrimination!" Leon argued righteously, placing a hand over his heart as if deeply wounded. "I'm still a baby who is eight years and one hundred and twenty months old!"
Hearing this sheer audacity, March 7th could no longer keep a straight face. She buried her face in her hands, groaning loudly.
"Oh, you can calculate it like that? I've learned something new." Stelle had an epiphany, her golden eyes widening in genuine awe.
Beside her, Caelus had already pulled out a small, battered notebook and was furiously scribbling down Leon's words for future use.
Pela opened her mouth to retort, but the words died in her throat. Her gaze drifted past the three idiots and landed on the petite, gray-haired girl aggressively playing games on her phone.
Wait... is that Bronya?
Pela blinked behind her glasses. No, the height was entirely wrong. The clothes were far too casual and futuristic, and the hairstyle was completely different. But those facial features... she really looked exactly like Bronya did when she was a child!
Pela quickly adjusted her glasses, her sharp intelligence officer instincts kicking in. She determined within seconds that this stranger was definitely not the future Supreme Guardian. As Bronya's closest friend, she knew every detail of her appearance. Although this girl looked strikingly similar, the subtle differences in her demeanor and aura were very obvious.
But... could that be Bronya's younger sister?
Does Lady Cocolia have another daughter hidden away?!
The raging soul of gossip instantly ignited within Pela's chest. The urge to march over there and interrogate them was almost overwhelming. She was dying to ask. But she gripped her clipboard tighter, forcing herself to stay grounded. Her current task wasn't finished yet, and the children were still waiting.
"Sorry about that, they act crazy like this occasionally, please don't mind them!" March 7th laughed awkwardly, grabbing Leon by the back of his collar and forcefully dragging him away from the tour group.
Pela returned a polite, albeit strained, friendly smile and turned back to the children, continuing her explanation of the Everwinter Monument's history and the guardian spirits of Belobog.
"You guys are really... all our dignity was just lost!" March 7th complained bitterly, dragging Leon, Stelle, and Caelus to the side of the street. She planted her hands on her hips, glaring at the trio.
"Is that so? What did I say wrong?" Leon said defiantly, brushing off his jacket. "I am an eight-year-old and one-hundred-and-twenty-month-old baby."
"Isn't that just eighteen years old!" March 7th snapped, stomping her foot.
"Actually, I think it's fine. Isn't this quite fun?" Firefly stepped forward, her voice soft and soothing. She could see March 7th was getting genuinely worked up and tried to diffuse the situation with a gentle smile. She was always so warm and accommodating.
"Sigh, you're just spoiling them." March 7th facepalmed helplessly, her anger deflating under Firefly's gentle gaze.
"I, I'm not..." Firefly stammered, her cheeks tinting pink again as she looked away shyly.
The group continued walking along the bustling street, the tension easing into comfortable banter. That was, until they passed a completely ordinary, plain-looking iron receptacle sitting by a lamppost.
"This trash can!"
Stelle and Caelus stopped dead in their tracks. Their eyes instantly lit up with a feral, unhinged intensity. They could no longer move their feet. The world around them faded away, leaving only the majestic, cylindrical beauty of the Belobog waste bin.
"The design of this trash can is simply perfect," Leon nodded in solemn agreement, stepping up beside them to admire the craftsmanship. Of all the trash cans across the vast, infinite worlds of the universe, Belobog's trash can design was the most perfect, bar none. The sturdy iron, the utilitarian aesthetic—it was art.
"Wait... what are you guys trying to do?" March 7th's voice trembled. She suddenly remembered the horrific sight of Stelle and Caelus violently rummaging through the pristine trash cans back at the Herta Space Station. Her right eye couldn't help but twitch.
Please no. Rummaging through trash cans on a public street in broad daylight... please no!
Firefly and Silver Wolf's eyelids jumped simultaneously. A strange, heavy sense of nostalgia washed over them. As expected of the Trailblazers. It was still the familiar, chaotic flavor.
"Haven't you noticed this trash can is a bit different?" Stelle analyzed, dropping into a deep crouch and stroking her chin like a seasoned detective. "The edges are no longer rusty, and the dents on the body are much smoother. It tells a story of survival."
"Exactly," Caelus crouched beside her, his eyes gleaming. "There's even a faint golden glow peeking from under the lid. Sweet and tempting!"
The two Trailblazers looked at each other. A silent, terrifying consensus was reached. This trash can possessed an inexplicable, magnetic attraction. It wasn't just a waste bin; it had transformed into a legendary treasure chest waiting to be plundered.
"What was bound to come has come..." March 7th facepalmed helplessly, her spirit breaking. After the trash cans of the Herta Space Station and the pristine bins of the Astral Express, the trash cans of Belobog could not escape their demonic clutches either!
Sure enough, in the very next second, Stelle and Caelus reached out, flipped open the heavy iron lid in perfect synchronization, and plunged their arms deep inside.
"Nothing?" Caelus muttered, digging deeper.
"No, impossible." Stelle's shoulder disappeared into the depths of the bin.
A moment later, they both bent over simultaneously and yanked their hands out, triumphantly holding up a jagged, slightly sticky piece of scrap iron from the very bottom of the can.
"I told you there was something at the bottom," Stelle said proudly, holding the scrap metal up to the sunlight as if it were a flawless diamond.
"Hard work pays off; we finally found the treasure," Caelus nodded, his face a mask of absolute triumph.
The rest of the Astral Express Crew stood on the sidewalk, staring at Stelle and Caelus with incredibly complicated, pained expressions.
The smile on Leon's face was almost impossible to hold back. His shoulders shook slightly. Although he had fully anticipated this exact scenario, witnessing the trash-panda behavior with his own eyes in real life still made him want to burst into laughter. Fortunately, both Stelle and Caelus instinctively used the power of their Path to keep their clothes and skin perfectly clean, otherwise, he would have had to hose them down with industrial disinfectant before letting them back on the train.
"You guys..."
A soft, pitying voice broke the silence.
A passing big sister with pale blonde, rock-and-roll styled hair and a guitar case slung over her shoulder had stopped in her tracks. Serval stared at the two young adults cheering over a piece of garbage. Her eyes softened with deep, deep sympathy.
Feeling an overwhelming sense of pity for these poor, starving youths who had been reduced to digging through public waste bins, she reached into her leather jacket, pulled out a thick stack of Shield coins, and gently stuffed the currency into Stelle and Caelus's hands.
"If you're having difficulties in life, please take this money. Buy yourselves something warm to eat," Serval said softly, giving them an encouraging pat on the shoulder before walking away, leaving them frozen in the street.
Stelle:...
Caelus:...
The sheer, unfiltered pity in the rock star's eyes was unbearable! The emotional damage was catastrophic.
Seeing the utterly devastated, petrified expressions on the Trailblazers' faces, Leon could no longer hold it in. He threw his head back and burst into loud, echoing laughter that filled the entire street.
The passing big sister Serval had just dealt Super Break Damage to Stelle and Caelus.
