Chapter 208: Abundance Rekka Won't Hit You, But Who Said Hunt Rekka Won't?
The Reignbow Arbiter had manifested.
Or rather, that was the illusion painted across the heavens. In truth, this impressive cosmic display was nothing more than a volley of arrows fired by Rekka.
A brief flicker of surprise flashed through Feixiao's clear green eyes, but the shock melted instantly into a soaring, predatory fighting spirit. An arrow of pure, condensed light plummeted from the sky, pinning itself into the ground right beside her boots. As the blinding radiance dissipated into the air, it revealed her usual long-handled weapon. Feixiao reached out and gripped the halberd with a backhand hold. Wind and thunder immediately wreathed the shaft, and the familiar, comforting cold sensation of the metal spread across her palm.
Why would her halberd transform into an arrow of light and fall from the sky? Feixiao did not care to waste time pondering the absurdity of it.
Two more brilliant beams of light tore through the atmospheric canopy. Jing Yuan and Huaiyan each reached out, catching their respective weapons flawlessly as the arrows of light scattered into luminous dust around their fingers.
"This is truly..." Jing Yuan trailed off, a faint smile touching his lips.
But right now, the Arbiter-Generals were far more concerned about Stelle.
Because in Stelle's hands rested a glowing purple arrow of light that stubbornly refused to transform into any sort of weapon.
"No, seriously, how do I use this?" Stelle muttered, her deadpan voice laced with genuine confusion.
She first tried gripping it right in the middle like an oversized pen, but her posture felt entirely wrong. Then she flipped her wrist, attempting a reverse grip as if holding a tactical dagger, but it still felt incredibly awkward. Finally, abandoning all martial arts logic, she simply grabbed one end of the glowing arrow with both hands, stacked one fist above the other, and gave it a few tentative, aggressive swings in mid-air.
Whoosh. Whoosh.
There was absolutely no sound of breaking air. This glowing construct possessed zero physical weight and completely ignored the laws of air resistance. She was essentially swinging a holographic pool noodle.
Stelle stopped and stared blankly at Feixiao.
"Why not try to visualize it as your usual weapon?" Feixiao suggested, her tone perfectly serious despite the ridiculous display.
"I wanted it to turn into a baseball bat," Stelle complained, poking the glowing purple construct. "But it's actively ignoring me."
Feixiao fell completely silent.
Jing Yuan, a man who possessed centuries of experience in drafting convoluted examination questions for the Luofu's civil servants, smoothly stepped in. He delivered a highly authoritative, incredibly complex explanation regarding the metaphysical nature of light constructs and intent, leaving Stelle scratching her head in even deeper confusion.
'Is... is that really how it works?' Stelle thought, staring at the purple stick in dismay.
Next to them, Dan Heng also received his weapon. The familiar weight of Cloud-Piercer settled into his grip.
Somehow, the spear felt different. It was as if Cloud-Piercer had been buffed in a highly specific, slightly insulting way.
The newly added function actively forced Cloud-Piercer to return to his hand at breakneck speeds the moment it left his grasp. It was essentially a Loyalty enchantment.
One could easily make a joke about how Cloud-Piercer was now a clingy pet that refused to leave his side. But practically speaking, this was a massive quality-of-life improvement. After all, every single time Dan Heng executed a cool, dramatic maneuver by throwing Cloud-Piercer like a javelin to impale an enemy, he always had to go fetch it afterward. He either had to walk over like a janitor cleaning up a battlefield, or exert extra energy using Cloud Hymn to manipulate water currents just to drag the spear back to his hand. Now, with this bizarre buff, Dan Heng no longer had to play fetch with his own weapon.
Jing Yuan tilted his head back, looking up at the massive, jagged hole blown through the ceiling of the building.
To be shot at by the Reignbow Arbiter's power was a spectacle one could admire every single day.
"Everyone, I will take the lead," Feixiao announced.
Before the final syllable even left her lips, she vanished from the spot, leaving behind only a crackle of displaced air and a residual trail of wind. Swift, brutal, and decisive as always.
High above, purple specks of light continued to materialize in the sky. One, two, ten, a hundred. The numbers multiplied exponentially.
Hoolay, whose ego was currently inflating to planetary proportions, likely had no idea that he had walked directly into a carefully crafted trap.
Rekka had indeed stood on Hoolay's side earlier today. He had even graciously bestowed upon the Borisin Warhead the blessing of the second crimson moon, flooding Hoolay's veins with an absurd amount of temporary power. This generous gift gave the wolf enough time to digest the Abundance sprout within him, allowing his physical form to mutate and grow until his raw strength could easily surpass that of Shuhu.
Abundance Rekka absolutely refused to hit you. But that did not mean Hunt Rekka would show the same mercy.
This was, in essence, a perfectly balanced justice cutting.
"As wolves, we are the creators of Fear, not its slaves!" Hoolay roared, his voice vibrating with enough force to shatter glass. "If you cannot see the path, I shall become the high-hanging crimson moon to illuminate the way for you! Where I walk, there is the pack!"
Hoolay, whose mutated body had grown even more massive and grotesque than before, finally threw his head back and unleashed a deafening, blood-curdling wolf howl to summon his kin.
The Warhead's howl served as the ultimate signal. Across the Luofu, all the Borisin who had infiltrated and hidden themselves undercover felt a violent jolt of adrenaline course through their blood.
"Grant the wolves a desperate path, that they may find the way forward! Feed the wolves with death, that they may eat their fill!"
"Live in shame, and there is no place to survive! Fight to the death, and live on for ten thousand generations!"
The Borisin offensive erupted with terrifying ferocity. Yet, despite the panic it should have induced, the uprising was actually being beaten back in a rather pathetic manner.
Up in the sky, Rekka looked down at the chaos and made a quick mental calculation.
He would need to use roughly ten thousand arrows of light.
Down below, the Borisin who had just begun their violent riot suddenly found their skulls pierced by blinding streaks of light. In a fraction of a second, they were pinned violently to walls, barricades, and the stone ground, stripped of any chance to escape.
These were all light arrows fired by the Rekka of the past.
Flee. Flee into any crack in time, hide in any temporal anomaly. The arrows would always find their mark, pinning the target directly to their inescapable fate.
Surely, those ten thousand arrows would not all be wasted on the foot soldiers, right?
The remainder of the volley was a special, personalized reward reserved entirely for that little glutton, Hoolay.
And then came the atmospheric segment.
The sounds echoing across the Xianzhou perfectly matched Hoolay's idealized impression of a glorious battlefield. Although his predatory instincts vaguely warned him that something was terribly wrong, his overwhelming excitement for the impending slaughter completely masked the danger. In Hoolay's twisted view, there was absolutely no logical reason for this blessed Lord Ravager angel to suddenly turn around and attack him.
The Warhead roared again, broadcasting his boastful threats of a terrorist massacre across the entire Xianzhou.
Hoolay wanted this ship to be washed in an ocean of blood. He intended to claim the Luofu as his ultimate trophy, the foundational capital he needed to lead the Borisin race to a glorious comeback.
Leading his frenzied pack to the highest vantage point, Hoolay stepped heavily onto the deck of the Skysplitter.
This was the grand arena. The exact location where the Wardance was currently being held.
And waiting patiently for him here were the Cloud Knights.
The old wolf king at the very front of the pack straightened his massive spine. The two crimson moons embedded within his chest beat with an unmatched, terrifying intensity. Every single pulse pumped a frenzied, boiling flow of blood into his mutated limbs. He reveled in this intoxicating power that far surpassed his prime, letting out a string of hoarse, guttural laughter from deep within his throat.
Hoolay's feral gaze locked onto the two children standing at the very front of the defensive line, both holding utterly ridiculous weapons.
"Ridiculous..." Hoolay sneered, his voice dripping with contempt.
But very soon, he would find himself unable to laugh.
Something did not feel right.
Hoolay lunged forward, swinging his massive greatsword. The moment his blade clashed against the children's weapons, his greatsword shattered into a dozen pieces from the sheer counter-shock force. It was a flawless redirection of kinetic energy. Hoolay's prideful, overwhelming strength could not be used at all. Enraged, he discarded the broken hilt and tried to use his bare claws to violently snap the strange weapons held by Yunli and Yanqing.
The moment his claws struck the metal, his bones fractured with a sickening crunch.
Hoolay froze, staring down at his strangely bent right claw. Jagged, broken bone shards pierced right through his thick grey skin, and a few heavy drops of dark red blood splattered onto the polished deck of the Skysplitter. A rare, fleeting hint of genuine bewilderment flashed through his beastly pupils.
Of course, to a creature of his caliber, this did not even count as a real injury. In just a few short breaths, the flesh knitted together, and the claw snapped back into its original, lethal state.
He scrutinized the weapons in the children's hands. Those two blades did not house anything special. There was no Heliobus sealed inside, no parasitic monsters, not even the faint aura of a living weapon within his vast range of knowledge. They were completely, utterly dead objects.
However, the sheer, suffocating concentration of Lupitoxin emanating from Hoolay's body was an unavoidable, biological Fear debuff. The invisible pheromones saturated the air, designed to paralyze prey with primal terror.
Yunli violently bit down on the tip of her tongue. A sharp, grounding sting, accompanied by the heavy, metallic taste of rust and blood, spread rapidly through her mouth. The sudden jolt of pain briefly overrode the paralyzing Fear brought on by the Lupitoxin.
"Little brother Yanqing, get behind me," Yunli ordered, her voice tight but steady.
Although the two young prodigies usually found each other incredibly annoying, the harsh reality of the battlefield had forged a highly reliable, unspoken bond of camaraderie between them.
As long as she held both swords together, Yunli could rely on the custom weapon crafted by Rekka to guide Laotie into an absolutely perfect, impenetrable parry.
Hoolay looked down at these two struggling, stubborn children. His jaw split open, revealing a terrifying row of forest-white fangs dripping with saliva.
"Cubs..." Hoolay growled, his voice vibrating through the deck. "Continue your deathbed struggle."
He casually reached out, grabbed a charging Cloud Knight by the armor, and hurled the man away like a discarded toy. Currently, only these two strange, heavily armed cubs possessed the defensive capabilities to even stand in his presence.
And Hoolay, despite his feral rage, was a veteran of countless wars. He had already realized that bypassing the strange, impenetrable defense of these two brats was actually quite simple.
He just needed to bend the physical material of those annoying toys, or strike with enough brute force to send the weapons flying out of their tiny hands.
Ignoring all defensive logic, Hoolay lunged forward and directly grabbed the sharp edges of the swords in their hands. The price for this reckless maneuver was immediate: both blades pierced deeply into his broad chest.
The weapons churned violently against his heart, tearing through muscle and tissue. But even with blades buried in his vital organs, Hoolay showed absolutely no sign of letting go. His grip on the metal only tightened.
To his current, heavily mutated self, this level of fatal injury felt like nothing more than a mild itch.
"Playtime is over, cubs," Hoolay sneered, his eyes glowing with sadistic glee.
Hoolay's massive hand exerted a terrifying amount of crushing force, and the sword trapped in Yanqing's grip let out a high-pitched, metallic wail of structural failure.
