Chapter 14 - blood like water ?

"Brother."

A smooth voice, laced with an underlying threat, reached my ears.

"May I question the purpose of your visit?"

I cleared my throat lightly.

"Do I require a reason to speak with my beloved sister?"

Her eyes narrowed.

Cold.

Inside my head, I asked—

How old is Snow White at the moment, Bb?

A lazy flutter near my shoulder.

[Sixteen.]

Oh.

Now you answer without asking for a price, huh?

The butterfly gave what I swore was smug silence before replying—

[The comfort of choice is given to those who can afford it. Unlike a certain someone.]

This piece of shit.

Then—

The Empress spoke.

"Hm. Now you remember you possess a sister…"

A slow tilt of her head.

"…after spending your time lusting after her daughter?"

My mind blanked for half a second.

Then caught up.

Ah.

So that was my role.

A lecher.

Not exactly my least preferred personality to wear.

Still—

experience said hesitation killed faster than blades.

So I smiled.

Looked directly into her eyes.

And answered, word for word—

"Well said by the woman envying the beauty of her own stepdaughter."

Silence.

Then—

"Behave."

Her voice turned glacial.

"Before I have you executed for tarnishing the Imperial family's reputation."

She rose slightly.

"Accusing the Mother of the Empire of envying the beauty of a child born to a consort."

Hmm.

Inside my head—

When will the plot begin, Bb?

A pause.

Then—

[Current Balance: -7]

"…Excuse me?"

[In approximately one month.]

Ignored.

So she had already likely made arrangements.

I leaned back into the sofa, then forward again, elbows on knees, posture lazy.

Deliberately provoking.

"Big words…"

I let my gaze drag over her face.

"…for someone who is planning an accidental death."

Her eyes widened.

Only slightly.

But enough.

Her lower lip trembled once—not fear.

Rage.

Then—

"Maids!"

Her voice cracked like steel.

One hand moved sharply, snatching a nearby vase.

The room tightened instantly.

I lifted one hand.

Calm.

"Relax, elder sister."

A faint smirk.

"I only came to help you."

She laughed once.

Cold.

"Help me?"

Her eyes skimmed over me with open contempt.

"You? With that timid little personality?"

Ah.

Looks like I had miscalculated.

In my haste.

So I leaned back and dragged the word out lazily—

"Sister…"

My eyes sharpened.

"Do you really think someone timid could survive in that household?"

Silence.

Then she sneered.

"Looks like I brought wolf with me."

Three maids stepped in.

Including the one who had escorted me.

They surrounded me carefully. armed.

Close enough to remind me.

I was not safe here.

Uff.

A intoxicated look entered my eyes

I looked at my sister.

Then spoke in a low, tempting tone—

"If you intend to dispose of me…"

A slight tilt of my head.

"…then use me while I'm useful."

Her gaze hardened.

"Meaning?"

I smiled.

"Call Princess Snow White."

The room went still.

Even Bb stopped fluttering.

The Empress stared at me for a long time.

Thinking.

Calculating.

Testing whether I was mad…

or useful.

After what felt like half an hour—

she finally gave a single nod.

"Bring her."

The maids moved.

The chamber doors opened once more.

Soft footsteps approached.

Light.

And then—

A pale neck entered my line of sight.

Pulsing.

And somehow…

Looked so alluring with the hairpin I pierced it with.

Blood flowing like water

Drenching the dark green gown she was wearing.

A slow smile tugged at my lips, watching the whole performance unfold with her scream ringing in the background.
