Chapter 230 - 230: Maeve's Bluff!

"Please. It's not the last century anymore."

That was the first thing Stormfront said after learning Maeve had stolen her photos.

She was completely speechless at Homelander's behavior. "Compared to you I look more like a modern young person."

"Old man, don't you know you can send photos with a phone these days?" Stormfront pulled out her phone and casually sent him a selfie.

"So what you need to do isn't let Maeve leave. It's expose her and get the photos back."

Stormfront gave Homelander a look of pure disappointment, the kind reserved for iron that refuses to become steel, then prepared to leave. Time was urgent. She had to find Queen Maeve before the photos got sent. "I don't have time to chat with you right now. If those photos get uploaded online by Butcher and his people, I'm finished. Completely finished."

Looking at the anxious Stormfront, Homelander pretended to be relaxed. "Don't worry. Every superhero's phone is monitored by Vought. The moment anything abnormal happens with Queen Maeve's phone, Greevs will notify me right away."

"Hah. How do you know Queen Maeve and Greevs aren't working together? Don't naively think that just because he helped you a few times he'll wear the same pants as you. Please. He's only doing this for Vought's sake. In that regard he's no different from Edgar. Don't forget our plan. One day Vought will become the tool we use to conquer the world.

Greevs and Edgar are just the stumbling blocks standing in our way." Stormfront sneered.

"Let me interrupt. Honestly I have zero interest in that bullshit plan. All I need is for my fans to worship me like the sun, just like they do now. As for conquering the world, it can go to hell. That's Nazi shit, not my shit."

When Homelander mentioned Nazis his tone was pure contempt. In his view conquering the world was hard work with no real payoff, and if you failed you became the target of everyone's spit, just like how people still spit on the ground whenever they bring up the little mustache guy.

"No. You have to do it. We spent half a century finding someone like you. This is your destiny…"

Stormfront's words were cut off by the impatient Homelander. "Who the fuck am I? I'm fucking Homelander. I don't need anyone telling me I must do this or must do that. Oh shit, don't bring up that goddamn destiny. Let that thing die. I'll do whatever the fuck I want!"

Seeing Homelander's firm attitude, Stormfront didn't push further. She simply believed time would change him and his mindset would slowly shift. She had confidence in that.

"Fine. Have it your way. I need to go find Maeve now."

"Maeve already left Vought Tower. Just now." Homelander suddenly looked out the window.

"How do you know that?"

Stormfront asked instinctively.

"Because I have a pair of super eyes." Homelander lifted his chin slightly, a trace of pride in his tone.

On the other side.

Queen Maeve, who had just gotten the photos, was standing on the sidewalk hesitating. Watching the traffic flow past in front of her, she was deciding whether to go look for Starlight. Her current situation was best described as riding a tiger and finding it hard to get off.

If she had known Homelander's alertness was this high she would have waited a while longer before making a move. Now look. She found the photos, but she also made Homelander suspicious. From what she knew of him, he might already be somewhere in Vought Tower watching every single move she makes.

"Damn it!" Queen Maeve regretted how reckless her move had been. It had left her stuck between two bad options.

Right now she had two choices in front of her.

Either turn around and confess everything to Homelander, or go all the way and completely turn against Homelander and Vought.

Compared to the first option, the consequences of the second were something she didn't even dare imagine.

"Shit. With Homelander's personality he will definitely kill Elena, then tell me he prepared a wonderful gift. After that, when I push the door open, what I'll see will definitely be Elena's corpse." Elena was Maeve's girlfriend. She could already predict exactly what would happen if she chose the second path.

She was different from Starlight. Starlight's mother had already been rescued by Butcher's crew, while she still had a weakness sitting in Homelander's hands.

For the sake of her girlfriend's life she had to consider whether the remaining sense of justice in her heart was really worth doing this.

After a moment of thought.

Maeve ultimately compromised with Homelander. She bent down, pulled the photos out of her high boots, then pretended nothing had happened and walked back into Vought Tower.

The moment she stepped through the entrance she happened to see Homelander and Stormfront walking straight toward her.

In an instant a chill ran through her entire body. So she had been watched all along. Maeve could only be glad she hadn't gone to look for Starlight and the others. Otherwise the consequences would have been unimaginable.

"Your choice is correct. God forgives those lost sheep who find their way back, and so do I." Homelander smiled with open satisfaction.

"Give me the stuff."

Unlike Homelander, Stormfront's disgust toward Queen Maeve had reached the peak. She wanted nothing more than to kill this two-faced bitch on the spot.

"What stuff? You mean this stack of photos that prove you're a leftover Nazi? I really didn't expect you to be this old. What should I call you from now on? Aunt Stormfront, or Grandma Stormfront?" Maeve didn't flinch at Stormfront's threat at all and went straight for the mockery.

"Don't force me to tear your mouth open, you light-fingered little slut."

Women all hated others talking about their age. Stormfront was no exception. She was about to go insane with rage!

Sizzle rumble crackle!!

A few strands of bright blue electricity appeared out of thin air and wrapped around Stormfront's arms.

"You fucking bitch. I think I need to give you an unforgettable lesson."

"With just you?"

Queen Maeve took a few fearless steps forward. The bulging part of her combat suit nearly touched Stormfront.

Seeing the two of them at each other's throats, looking ready to fight the moment one more word was spoken.

Homelander standing to the side separated them with his hands.

"Maeve, I can forgive you this time, but it's also the last time!" Homelander snatched the photos from Maeve's hands, flipped through them, and after confirming none were missing he spoke again. "I think you should explain to me why you did this, and whether this photo has been sent to a second person."

Facing Homelander's questioning eyes.

Maeve shook her head. "I'm the only one who has seen the photos. As for the reason I did this, I only wanted to keep Elena from getting hurt."
