When their vacation time was up, they would
head straight back to Marine Headquarters and wouldn't be returning here.
"Have a safe trip!" the old mayor urged, leaning heavily on his cane as he watched the two of them prepare to leave.
"Got it, Mayor! You make sure to take care of your health too! I'm still waiting for you to hold our future kids!" Baishui shouted back with a grin.
"Good, good, good! I'll be waiting!" Hearing the mention of children, the old mayor smiled radiantly.
"We're off then!" Baishui bid his final farewell, and then steered the ship away from the island.
Baishui was his usual relaxed self—resting his hands behind his head, bouncing his leg, and humming a little tune. Aqi sat quietly beside him, sweetly reading a book.
The East Blue, Little Garden, the Florian Triangle, Drum Island, Water 7, Naga Island, and even Skypiea.
In their remaining five days, the two of them visited an absurd number of places across the Grand Line.
The God of Skypiea, Enel, even ended up becoming friends with Baishui. Of course, friendship between strong men is usually forged through their fists.
Aside from his lack of Busoshoku Haki, Enel's strength was not at all inferior to Baishui's.
This actually surprised Aqi quite a bit. She hadn't expected there to be someone as monstrously strong as Enel in the first half of the Grand Line. After all, according to what Baishui had taught her, the first half of the Grand Line was synonymous with the weak. The true powerhouses of the sea were all concentrated in the second half of the Grand Line—the perilous sea known as the New World.
The five days passed in the blink of an eye.
Baishui and Aqi finally returned to Marine Headquarters.
But the very moment he set foot in Marineford, Baishui sensed that something was terribly wrong with the atmosphere!
Oppressive. Gloomy.
That was the heavy feeling hanging over Marine Headquarters. Baishui could hardly believe it; this wasn't how the heart of the Marines was supposed to feel.
When Baishui arrived at the Fleet Admiral's office, the person he saw inside only deepened his confusion.
"Fleet Admiral Sengoku, what's going on here? Even Admiral Akainu is back!"
The Three Admirals were monumental figures. They were usually incredibly busy and rarely lingered at Headquarters. Yet now, one of the Admirals had actually returned from the front lines.
"You're back. As for this matter, ask Sakazuki. He knows the details best," Sengoku sighed, rubbing his temples. He sounded utterly exhausted.
"Admiral Sakazuki, what... happened?" Baishui asked, looking at the usually stoic Akainu.
"A large number of prisoners suddenly escaped from the Impel Down great prison. Although most have already been recaptured, the 'World Destroyer', Byrnndi World, is still at large on the seas. He has yet to be brought to justice!"
"His strength exceeded most people's expectations. Even Momonga and the others were no match for him."
"Yamakaji and Onigumo were both defeated at World's hands. That is why I was urgently recalled to Headquarters!" Akainu's deep, magnetic voice resonated through the room.
"How did they escape? Isn't Impel Down guarded by Magellan? With his strength, how could he let pirates break out of the prison!"
Baishui was bewildered. How could Impel Down, universally feared as an impenetrable iron fortress, fall?
Could something have happened to Magellan?
"Fleet Admiral, Admiral... don't tell me something happened to Magellan?"
Baishui gulped, asking tentatively.
If it were an ordinary officer asking this, the two heavyweights would probably have scoffed and told him to mind his rank. But Baishui was different; with his potential, he was destined to enter their inner circle sooner or later.
Therefore, both Sengoku and Akainu tacitly permitted Baishui's overstepping.
"Sigh... Yes, it's exactly as you guessed. Something happened to Magellan. Otherwise, Impel Down would absolutely never have been breached!" Sengoku sighed heavily.
